GUYS. Simpy McCuck is simply irredeemable, this is 2 page spread from latest, 157th chapter. FUCKING ZERO PROGRESS

Seriously? I thought that after he was able to control himself with Ruka, when she stayed over, and in the swimming pool, and being around Sumi, would have triggered some progress with Kazuya. I had some hopes for it. But unless chapter 157 throws us some nice curveball somehow, it indeed feels like having come full circle. Maybe he can even get back together with Mami again, to fully get back to the situation from chapter 1?

Glad I decided to write some fanfiction for this series, and added some progress to a few of the main characters, without making them too grown up suddenly, because that also would feel weird. I'm not saying it's a great story, but any progress feels better than zero progress.

lol, what did you expect from this anime/manga? (you make me really glad to drop the anime)

i don't read the manga, but let me guess, looks like she gonna take the money.

At this point this anime/manga really just about a some kind "realistic" mc with bad behavior that spend all his money & life for Simping with a greedy low key pr*stitute heroine, that always spoil the mc.

Like what thanos say "You couldn't live with your own failure and where did that bring you back to me"

Yeah. I saw the manga parts of Kazuya's so-called "self control."

All the reasons why Peter Grill, despite how low the score is compared to Rent-A-GF, is a way better series than this crap will ever be. I miss the days when male leads "just did it" and were glad they succeeded.

As much as I like this series. The main character does annoy me and reminds of Makoto from School days.

Well, it may appear that in this case Kazuya decided to rent her again because he wants to cheer her up, and sees no other ways to make her agree to come. So it's not as bad as it seems perhaps, but still, keeping up a lie for over a year, and hurting the other girls who either openly or secretly care about him, not the best behavior.

Hey now, Makoto deserves to be rated higher than this MC in terms of...ability to get laid(?) He at least had coitus multiple times and with almost all the girls too (in the VN).

On the other hand, this MC is content with just fantasizing about it (and it turns him on even if he is not included in said fantasy).

I am only hating this series because of the story. In my opinion, if the last scene of the anime before the credits was also in the manga, the series could have ended there if he straight up said he really wanted her as a real girlfriend (not as a rental). Since it has been more or less obvious that Chizuru also has feelings for MC, they would then be able to officially be a couple.

The female characters are all really cute and the VAs sound amazing which is the main reason I watched it till the end of the season (and will probably watch the next season too...maybe)

True, regardless of what girl the MC ends up with, whether or not the most supported couple, or one of the others, and regardless of my personal preference, that is the main reason I watched all episodes. Well, except 12, just need to get a nice moment to enjoy the season finale in peace, saturday is often the "let's get some things done before sunday comes and the shops are closed" day.

It even inspired me to write some fanfiction, which until a month ago, had been nearly 10 years ago. The show is not perfect, all characters have some drawbacks, some more than others, but in this Covid-19 plagued world, being able to watch and read anime/manga like this, is one way to keep you from becoming another salty person. Although I've seen plenty of examples of people who do watch this and other anime, and still have turned into salty individuals. But maybe that's just their take on life and how to treat other people.

For me, I respect any honest opinion about this or any other anime, music, etc, as long as there are some good reasons given, instead of "you s*ck if you like this" and "the series I am watching is much better than that thrash, but then again, you are thrash too" etc. What's wrong with wording it as "I like this series better than that one" and not being judgemental?

Love is already spread thin at times, no need to spread it even thinner, right?

Did you expect anything from this manga when the author himself clearly says men exist just to support beautiful women? The author himself self inserted himself as Kazuya. Don't expect Kazuya to get any better, because he is pure garbage, and no real girl would actually fall for him (that's why they should classify this series as a fantasy LUL).

He starts off as pathetic and after 100+ chapters in he is still pathetic. He knows this but keeps on making the same mistakes over and over, and does so little to fix himself. The female leads are the ones saving this series.

Yeah, by now it's clear that progress doesn't have priority. If there is any progress, it's mostly with Mami (getting worse, she seems to really need professional help asap), Ruka having learned she can't force someone to love her, but knowing Kazuya was so close to making their relationship official, and being head over heels for him, can't stay away. And Sumi slowly getting better at expressing herself.

Kazuya does realize at some point everyone has progressed somewhat, and he hasn't, and he has a good heart, which he showed at some moments, when saving Chizuru when she fell off the ferry. Or maybe even more, protecting Ruka when she fell down the stairs, even though many at that point would have thought she deserved to get hurt. Ruka even was so surprised about this, she assumed Kazuya rather wanted her dead, so she couldn't cause more trouble for him and Chizuru about the rental thing. So letting her fall down seemed like a great opportunity, but Kazuya was like 'not on my watch!'

But you need a good memory to keep those moments in mind, when for the rest, he remains stuck in the same circular thought pattern, and must by now have gotten a volume discount from a tissue manufacturer. But the moments with the main girls keeps me interested.

I don’t see character development of the MC at all.
He’s horny since ep 1 until 12. And he keeps lying and adding more troubles over and over again.

If I rate this show low, the MC may be one of the reasons.

No need S2.

I do like to see a second or third season, but only because of the girls. These do show some progression, like Sumi taking more initiative, and Ruka, while still trying to get Kazuya's attention, takes a more subtle approach at times, and sometimes 'switches gear' if she realizes she's overdoing it. Mami needs therapy, maybe we will someday get an explanation why she has a dual personality. And the other main characters need to learn the meaning of the words 'truth' and 'honesty'.

I guess the crazyness and the cute designs for the main girls are what mostly explains it's popularity. The music in anime is great too at times.

Definitely fantasy. The MC keeps on making embarrassing and shameful mistakes but isn't really punished for it but for some reason is heavily rewarded instead.

There is some progress with the MC, but so little that even he himself in the manga states that everyone has made progress, except him. At least he does realize that he needs to make progress, which could be considered as progress, I guess?

Everything is good except the MC, Hes somewhat become to obsessive with Chizuru to a stalking level. Come on, she is doing her (Job). The series did not show much but bet Kazuya hiding in the bushes and prying Chizuru with any guy

I really liked the series. However, there was times where I was swearing and annoyed at the MC for being somewhat annoying/useless. The similar generic harem anime, some of the MC is okay and bearable but Kazuya was on another level of annoyance.

chizuru is same shit like mc, well her job is for lust satisfaction & making costumer got manipulated/addicted and depended on her. There is what happen to mc (especiallt this kind of mc) because her decision, literally all his money & time just to make sure he can rent her. I see all his development is back to zero again, everything it's build on money all this time. Kindnesss come from money? lol. I understand, Though Chizuru is doing her job and orginally trying to be as professional by stating rules of do's and dont's. Until Kazuya, begs and cries like a baby to get Chizuru's sympathy. I would say about half the time, hes done that. Don't get me wrong I am a Chizuru shipping but Rika would tick Kazuya's checklist to what hes looking for most parts.

lol, i hope she corected what this mc try to do, so at least she do her job as heroine, But....... here we are, a PERFECT BEAUTY BITCH, she really doesn't hesitate to take his money & spend it, even thought mc do it to cheer her after her grandma death. She literally say to him that "hey, you can cheer me with your money", It's Always Money that all matter, the sadness of your beloved grandma can be replaced with MONEY?

what kind of support that she give to mc like people say? never make him a better person, she just make him a submissive man/slave to her, never corrected that all his bad behaviour & wrong decision, instead she make him believe what he doing is right, she really Pro in Her Job. "At this point she at same level with Mami".

(*btw he spend like 633.80 dollar from his work just to simp her?! this man is what most people related? wow, even i still have sanity to not doing that for a prostitute, you can invest to something more better).

Indeed some characters are not being honest with themselves and others. Chizuru said she'd only kept dating Kazuya to help him find a real girlfriend, but never takes any action to make that happen. Instead, she repeatedly crosses the line between client and rental, and if anything, makes it less likely Kazuya will open up to anyone but her. But both him and her are not getting much closer either.

I read a lot of people hating on Ruka because she gets the blame for keeping 'dream couple' apart, but if you look at it from a distance, and get the full picture, it's more like Kazuya and Chizuru are responsible for the situation, and just keep dragging Ruka into the mess they made, because Kazuya does at least partially appreciate her as girlfriend, beyond just a 'trial'. And because Ruka sees that Chizuru really wants to stay close to Kazuya, and get even closer, she responds to that by getting defensive, or even goes on the offence. It's a natural reaction to the MC and Chizuru trying too hard to maintain the status quo, even though it's not a healthy situation to be in for everyone, with all the lies and dishonesty involved. But if Ruka tries to break that cycle, she gets the blame for things not going right.

100% agree, Chizuru not being honest and using the reason of being a rented girlfriend to somewhat stay with Kazuya . At the same time, earning money which is better than none (^_^). Ruka has questioned few times if Chizuru likes Kazuya but the same excuse. The same goes for Kazuya, he had soo much courage

It feels like people want his character development to happen overnight. Manga readers will know (and probably have noticed) that he had his fair share of character development. The way the anime advertises his character is the surface of what the manga has achieved so far.

People tend to forget he was in a terrible place during the start. He just got off a relationship. Probably poured all of his love towards his ex gf Mami and got really depressed by it. Fuck mami

I think there's nothing wrong with the girls and the problems stem from the bad writing of the story in general. Kazuya is the lead so the blame solely falls on him then.

It just doesn't make sense to me how inconsistent Kazuya's motivations are.

1.He wants a gf
-Was originally dumped by 1st gf and is lonely thus causing him to "rent-a-girlfriend"

But then when he lands Ruka he wants nothing to do with her. At the end when he was about to ask her out seriously he just bounces and confesses to Mizuhara later that night.

2. He wants sex
-There's a big emphasis on how much he wants to lose his virginity i.e shows him jerking off a lot, the ending credits have him making a masterbating gesture, Mami mentions how much of a horn dog he is.

Yet when he gets the chance with his gf he wants no part in it whatsoever. Wtf?

3.Kazuya needs to keep secret with Mizuhara
-He needs to keep the status quo with rental gf because of his grandma.

This is such a weak plot device that makes no sense and is fixed by the future developments like he gets a gf, his ex wants him back. Theres no reason for Mizuhara to stick around and also the viewers aren't invested enough in her to root for him to be with her.

Overall there's just a lot of unnecessary story elements that don't work. The creator just took good parts of harems and made a Frankenstein show. Like him and Mizuhara are neighbors...they go to the same college...her identity must remain a secret. Even after all this set up theyre not even very close or know any intimate details about one another. Mizuhara is portrayed as uninterested compared to the real girlfriend Ruka. So it's just a mess of a show.

also the only thing that mizuhara intereseted in mc is his money, that's the only thing that keep her stick with mc, even with all trouble that she knew it will happen & sacriface her only family with lies. Literally she used him well for her own good & never actually help him to be better person. So she really potrayed how real greedy prostitute work. I really don't know how this girl got love by many people, maybe those people actually just have same mind like mc. If you see deep enough how her action, you will understand why i say this. At this moment mc only see mizuhara as an obbsesion like mami.

btw this all stupid fake relationship started cuz the poor decision mc + mizuhara make it worse with not denied it (the only thing i see from this decision is so she can indirectly blackmail him), i dont even feels sad about her grandma. Help family with sacriface their trust & feeling? how stupid

Some interesting comments. Indeed it's strange that while Chizuru says her main goal is to get Kazuya a real girlfriend, she basically does little to nothing to make that happen, more does the opposite at times, preventing it from making anything progress in that direction. If Kazuya had not been dreaming of Mizuhara, he would have instantly accepted Ruka's offer to start dating, because he clearly feels attracted to her, and it's the first time a girl has expressed her feelings to him. There are a few moments where he pictures them together, like when watching movies during the sleepover. Even before that, he starts to care for Ruka, and decides to make them an official couple, but then he spots Chizuru, walking with Mami and leaves Ruka behind again.

And when Kazuya tries to end the lies, maybe also because kissing with Ruka has again made him lean more towards her, and also because his grandma wants to give Chizuru the familiy engagement ring, which takes things a step to far, Chizuru stops him. Basically emotionally blackmailing him with her grandma's poor health. But had they told the truth a long time ago, as they should have, they would never have been in this situation to begin with.

Chizuru gets away with this, because she's cute, and also has some redeeming character features, but if you look beyond the 'angel/princess' facade, you have to admit she's the main reason for Kazuya remaining stuck in being a simp witih no outlook on a truly equal relationship.

Ruka gets called possessive, but when Kazuya asks her to leave, right after she has confessed, she does that instantly. Or when she notices he's uncomfortable doing something she wants, she changes the situation, so it might be better. Like during the birthday, he is reluctant to just touch her, then she asks him to apply some sun lotion, which should be easier to do, although Kazuya can get excited about just anything, it seems. I doubt Chizuru would listen and/or adjust to Kazuya the same way. Sure, when he rents her, he's boss, because he's the client, but without that, it's clear she's overpowering him and always has full control over him. What situation would be more healthy in a relationship, that both sides listen to each other, and know when to let the other decide, or when one side pulls the strings, and the other dances like a puppet?

Maybe the author wants to show these faces of love and relationships. Or maybe he lost control of the story a long time ago, and is now letting the characters and the fans decide what the next chapters are going to show.

The MC may be terrible but everyone around enables his terrible behavior.

Chizuru is actually the worst offender. She realizes how unhealthy and expensive it is for him to be in her company, but she doesn't really address it. In the anime, they may play uplifting music when Chizuru says "rent me until you can find a real girlfriend," but the situation is actually tragic. She's encouraging him to chase a fantasy of the perfect girlfriend while still expecting him to find a normal relationship.

Another instance where Chizuru fails to call out Kazuya's terrible behavior is after she found out he's been stalking her for a whole day. While the two can barely can be considered friends at this point (more like co-conspirators), it's still very unacceptable behavior. Yet, Chizuru plays along and let's Kazuya have his sad moment, even giving him a gift to comfort him. I get it was an misunderstanding and people can talk things out. But realistically, anyone would feel uncomfortable with the fact that someone has been following them around all day. Most would be a hesitant to even stay in contact.

Oh, and sorry for the rant lol

I agree, despite Chizuru saying that her main goal is to get Kazuya into a healthy relationship, she keeps him on a leash, while taking his money, and keeps up the fake girlfriend act for their family and friends. This shows clearly in episode 12, where he decides to give Ruka a fair chance, but before he finishes his sentence, he spots Mami with Chizuru and runs after them instantly. And that happens in the manga later on a few more times. Also, Chizuru asks Mami to give Kazuya another chance in that episode, while in the beach episode, it was mostly Chizuru's doing that Kazuya and Mami didn't get a chance to work things out. They seemed very close to either finding closure, or get back together, but things worked out very differently, because she decided to join him on the ferry trip, as 'last date'

that's why chizuru is actualy worse/bad heroine for me. I dont understand with people who love her, maybe cuz her outside look, but never want to see deep inside her action. Her personality same worse like mami, but the mc never noticed cuz he easily being used or manipulated by her.

Maybe many people love her because, like her grandma and family, as well as Kazuya, they only see 'the angel' and 'princess' she appears to be. It's pretty ironic that during the visit to the shrine, Kazuya makes up that Ruka is a pathological liar, when he and Chizuru are the ones who are constantly lying, and Ruka is the only person who keeps urging them to tell the truth, because the lies can't go on. And not just because Ruka would benefit from the truth coming out, but she is the only one who sees clearly that it won't lead to anything. Kazuya and Chizuru are not only lying to others, and each other, but also not being honest to themselves, each denying they did cross the boundary between client and rental girlfriend not just once, but many times.

i agree with you. That's why when the worse thing happen to her grandma, actually i don't even feel sad for her. *oot , stupid thing that i see on that part is mc&heroine can play the film with projector from beginning, if they really care for her health, even if grandma insisted to go. idkl maybe author want to make it more dramatic."

Remember that one episode where Kazuya was complaining that he was lonely then Ruka wanted to spend time with him and he said no. He also has a grandmother and parents he could spend time with. I don't know how you could be lonely when you have many options.

Then he proceeds to STALK Chizuru the entire Christmas Eve. Who the heck does that?! That is next level creepiness I'm even surprise Chizuru didn't really do anything about it.

well he triggered a lot people so maybe yeah? not me though i understand why kazuya acts like that. he doesnt believe that someone like mizuhara who is in his eyes 'out of his league' would like him at all. people are confused with his actions. i watched this when it was airing didnt know the rating was this low lol but its deserved cuz the anime was kinda boring anyway

He isn't even that bad. Just a horny teenager. At least to the point I got, I haven't finished the show yet. Maybe it gets worse later on.

YES, Kazuya deserve all the hate he gets and this show is about him. Dude is dumb as fuck cannot make a rational decision, addicted to cuckery, literally an idiot.

He wants a girlfriend he rented one. GREAT! Now he's not lonely anymore for a few hours. Proceed to do it again and again to the point that involve working girlfriend Chizuru into his family affair, which indirectly affected her family affairs as well. Now both of them sits on a pedestal of lies so high in the sky they can convinced flat-earthers the world is round.

If such an app exist (they do) she can technically report/ban him from using the app again, save herself from all the inconvenience he had caused. But business is booming.

MC is lonely, needs a girlfriend, then he gets a confession outta nowhere, THEN still have the balls to reject her? He literally contradict himself here. If this is not a dumbass move idk what is. Proceed to head over heels for Chizuru... wtf? He practically got a girlfriend for FREE and still decide on which hoe is the best, f2p or p2w. If he is rich I wouldn't mind his addiction walking his third leg.

Chizuru gave subtle hints to make him rent her even more. She isn't bad, when you can manipulate your client its even better. Business is business. Its easier to manipulate dumb people. At least she understand what sells. But her relationship with Kazuya is based on lies, where its a lose-lose situation, could potentially hurt someone in the family. BUT yeah lets keep on lying till someone dies of old age, right? It's alright to keep leeching on this dumbass anyway.

He also slandered Ruka being a pathological liar when she was trying to tell the truth. He's definitely one of the garbage in the landfills, if not all.

I like all girls in this show (except Mami), they understand what the MC does not. The MC is an idiot. I hate the MC and this show is about him.
