The Japanese magazine CG World is doing a series of behind-the-scenes for this MV. Here are the first two:

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202001-idolish7-vol1.html

(How Orange approached the project, and some Easter eggs hidden in the MV)

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202002-idolish7-vol2.html

(How they made the VFX, like the ice, flames, and aurora)

The articles are in Japanese, but using Google translate on the page was clear enough to get the gist. It's really cool to see the actual tools and techniques they used. So much goes into making a four-minute video!

Here's part three, about the costume design and animation.

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202003-idolish7-vol3.html

There's some mind-blowing attention to detail, like the fact that Nagi has three rings that are the eye colors of himself, Mitsuki, and Yamato, because they're the Pythagoras Trio. Or how they adjusted gravity and windspeed over the course of a single movement to get each character's shirt to animate the way they wanted.

Every time I read one of these articles and go back to watch the MV again, it's like seeing it with new eyes.

Part four is about the background art.

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202004-idolish7-vol4.html

The concept art is gorgeous, and I enjoyed looking at the in-progress paintings of various scenes from the MV. There's some discussion of what is done digitally vs analog. Also it's fun to get a look at the materials that are on the art director's desk.

Part five is about the choreography, and also the dancers who did the motion capture and how they interpreted the characters.

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202005-idolish7-vol5.html

It's cool to see how it came together, starting back when it was just a demo track and some vague instructions from the director.

Part six: the editing. Something that's incredibly important to the video overall, but hard to explain and demonstrate.

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202006-idolish7-vol6.html

It has the story of how the song's hook was changed after the mocap and a lot of the animation had already been done (oof) and also some frames that the editor liked but had to be cut for the final MV.

Next month will be the final installment of the series.

The seventh and final part is about the creation of the music and the lyrics:

https://cgworld.jp/regular/202007-idolish7-vol7.html

I didn't expect this topic from a CG magazine, but of course it's the core part of the making of a music video. The Q&A format in this one seems to be more challenging for machine translation to parse so... it takes some creative thinking to understand what they're saying if you can't read Japanese.

I did like this line at the end of the article (thank you Google translate): "This MV is just a little less than 4 minutes in time, but it was packed with the love of the production team that seemed infinite."

I hope these links turn out interesting for somebody who finds this thread in the future. If not... well at least I enjoyed it! XD
