Hahahaha sorry for being retarded enough to notice that Liz gave a scorn when Asuna mentioned Kiritio was screwing up with some AI in a fucking simulation.

Oh and also since he's a smart enough programmer to pull of a holy miracle and revive YUI, which was very much unnecessary cause it's at that point SAO lost everything it was supposed to stand for.

This dumb bs again.
1. Kirito isn't a programmer, he literally pressed "convert immortal object" in the console.
2. Yes you finally understood what Kayaba's line about "overcoming the limitations of the system" meant. Kirito isn't the only one capable of doing this, he was just put in that situation. And before you say "that was explained properly", no, you just failed to put 2 and 2 together.

SAO discussions in this site have always been laughably bad when you have idiotic criticism like this but man. Why are you making a show that is making you that emotionally unwell?

Asuna literally does the exact same thing just minutes before when she breaks GM paralysis. But "muh asspull".

Long time lurker; first post.

I'm no SAO hater but this is so incredibly nonsensical. Even if we ignore all the other MAJOR plotholes so far (like why is RATH using a medieval world with swords, magic and flying dragons as a model to train an AI to implement into the real world). It seems as though the rules established just a few episodes ago are already being broken.

I distinctly recall Vecta saying something like "The world we're seeing is NOT MADE OUT OF POLYGONS and cannot be experienced by someone not connected via their fluctlight" so how in the hell are all these American players able to log in? Did Critter somehow change the fundamentals of the program all by himself in just 10 hours? What the fuck

Underworld is based on The Seed, which means that players without STL can connect to it just by doing account conversion. The STL is only here to provides the full experience of Underworld. If you don't remember, The Seed was a progiciel created by Kayaba Akihiko (the creator of SAO) to create full-five virtual world.
Critter just resync the world to real-time and open the network to the world.

The goal of RATH is to create a "numeric spirit' that can be used as a bottom-up IA (I'll let you type that on Google).

Adding to this: Underworld as it is now is just their first experiment. They started out with a medival world since it'd be a less complicated enviorment for the AI to develop in. Once they create a valid prototype like Alice they would then examine her and ingrain her traits in the next batch of AI after resetting the world.

What constitutes "The full experience of Underworld"? Logically thinking, the fact that it doesn't inhibit pain is probably one of the main features. In that case, it makes things a bit inconsequential as Amuspheres wouldn't (or should I say SHOULD'NT) be able to simulate that, which makes things a bit inconsequential as Liz and co wouldn't have anything to worry about

The amusphere can do pain, even if it have a pain absorber, in ALO arc, when Kirito opens the administrator commands and disable the pain absorber, we see the antagonist of the arc with physical damages when we see him in the real world.
What you need to know is the amusphere is not different from a nervegear, because pain is a sensation, then the pain is translated to the user.
The Underworld has no pain absorber to give realism for the experience, they needed to say that dying is a big deal. We see multiple times that NPCs (which are real souls) suffers and can die of pain. And this is no exception with users with STL, they feel pain and if they suffers to much their soul can "die", in the other side users of amusphere and nervegear will feel an intense pain, but will not die, because only their senses are virtualized.

I hope I made it clear.

This episode was probably meant to be a heartfelt one with some sort of emotional gathering of the community that'll then save the day.
I won't talk about Liz's speech because I skipped it.

If we ignore all the factual issues that have already been mentioned, I feel like any rationality was just dropped in this episode. I felt a huge disconnect when they showed the real world scene of the U.S. where the people started talking about dismembering like it was some kind of revolutionary concept in video games. The voice acting was horrid, but even the script writing in that scene was nonsensical. All the previous SAO games had realistic violence, but it's like they didn't care enough to write something different. I honestly can't see the reasoning behind that scene.

I'm sure someone has also mentioned this previously, but I'm getting a little tired of top secret government run facilities just letting high school girls in. In what universe is this realistic lol.

The pain in Isakhan's eyes was heartbreaking to see. Imagine watching your friends wall to their deaths like that.

Another week, another masterful episode of SAO: WOU. Lisbeth's speech with Unlasting playing over it gave me absolute goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. The virtual world can be just as real as the "real" world. What makes it real are the friends you make and the bonds you create.

Will definitely be sad to see SAO go on break after this, but I know the last episode will make it all worth it.

Volume 23 of the LN came in a couple of days ago, pre ordered the first Blu Ray of WOU which comes out on Christmas, great week for SAO.

in my opinion a great episode... everyone's saying that the speech was amazing. and some even cried... I personally didn't cry but I think I agree with Liz... I only hope that all people just don't accept this... it would be good to just leave those characters out, people are not convinced so easily... I don't want whole ALO to join in, just selected a few characters...
and that mysterious character at the end I am excited...
one thing I was worried for was that this is going to be a boring dialogue episode like last season where 3 episodes were straight-up boring dialogues... but in this, there was a lot of dialogues but they didn't bore me

I would've asked what "factual issues" but since you openly admit to be skipping stuff I doubt there'd be much reason to reference the previous episodes where all these things were established and even foreshadowed. If you scoll back through the thread I'm actually sure somebody has already adressed whatever plot hole you seem to be upset about.

And no. The other VRMMOs doesn't have realistic violence, you might not have noticed but in Underworld there's blood and gore where as in the other games it's merely red pixels.

"Why are they allowing high-schoolers in this? It's not realistic"
Idk man, why does most anime involve high-schoolers in situations that kids would never find themselves in, in the real world? Thats simply how these stories are told. Most anime protagonists happens to be highschoolers or even younger kids. The entire cast of Naruto are basically all child soldiers, that's incredibly unrealistic. Comparatively the SAO cast are in fact older than most anime's. Kirito, Asuna, Alice and Lisbeth are all over 18 and the rest aren't far behind.

Of all the nitpicks you could've come up with this has to have been the absolute worst.

"As if we're dead weight that doesn't contribute to society. People who refuse to face up to reality, not paying taxes or social security. ...

"For me, this world is the reality where I have a real life, real friends, real encounters and partings, and real smiles and tears!"

That should keep you warm in your old age. And those "friends" will surely help you move when you need it. When you can't afford the rent because you didn't study or make an effort as you spent countless hours hiding in a game. As soon as you got uncomfortable thoughts about the real world, hide in the game. Where there are always people greeting you with cheerful hellos - so easy. Makes you forget your real problems for a moment. Getting a job, having a career so you can afford things like a car and vacations, having a wife and children and then grandchildren, having a life that doesn't make your parents and grandparents ashamed of you when their co-workers ask what you're doing these days, if you ever graduated - try to forget these things as you get the kick from leveling up and beating the newbies instead. Heh, newbies who only spend a few hours a week on the game, such noobs!

This sounds like The Otaku Speech. And of course it's delivered by a cute girl instead of a dull otaku who only goes out to the store late at night.

Probably you didn't understand what the point is. It's not your account you can eventually recreate. Now, consider that you can do something which could help you and other anime viewer to change your reputation and demonstrate to everyone you aren't only a stupid person with a stupid passion who can't deal with the reality. However, what's truly important isn't do this for what others think but for your passion itself. Everything contestualized in a context where this passion copuld be important like the daylife for you.
It's difficult to me to say that but I hope what I wrote is clear.

He does not seem to fathom such concepts as "camaraderie", "helping each other", "strong friendship" and so on. For many people who have been through a lot with Kirito joining him in his crusade would be an honour, something actually worthwhile they can do while rotting away in those VRMMORPG. Like a real purpose, feeling like real heroes, protecting something and someone with a "soul". Guess some concepts are too big for people on certain individual development level.

Lol this. The story and antagonist of this season is so retarded it hurts. "Oh no! Help! The Americans! REEEEE!" It's so annoying. The same story would have been much more compelling if they didn't make the SDF vs US military so black and white and instead made it a very gray battle with equally compelling viewpoints, and these kids just got tangled up in it. And yeah, that ED is amazing and that speech was corny as hell.

Wait what? SDF vs US? Where?! Are we watching the same series? "a very gray battle"? SDF and U.S.A. army are a definition of grey. But wait there is more... "compelling VIEWPOINTS"?! The guys are a military! They are either socially worthless or utterly retarded and should be filling prisons or labour camps or are psychopaths. Antagonist, if you have failed to perceive, is a psychopath, and is not going to turn Alice over to U.S. either way..... .... Ooooh I get it. You are upset about U.S. army being portrayed as villainy as it is. Okay then, you almost had me. Just for you, on this special occasion, words of wisdom:

Aww, little baby has been reading socialist extremist websites and now he comes to spout off to sound adult. So cute. Meanwhile you defend actual criminals.

NATIONALISM!!! NATIONALISM IS EEEVIIILLL! Says the baby who swoons when he sees something like Black Lives Matter praised on CNN, MSNBC, in New York Times and Washington Post. Criminals who burn cars, loot stores and attack people in the streets. But wait - you don't have the attention span to follow the media as they praise the criminals. You just read what OTHER people say online and repeat that.

And to sound big you have to put your nonsense quote in a bigger font. Cute! Gotta make sure the attention is coming your way!

So millions of people are just a "landfill". Now whose the sociopath, sicko? Of course, you are still just blabbering nonsense from leftist websites, so I know you don't mean anything you say. To mean it you'd have to be able to think about it.

@Hylianticipated he will also want to hear that. If I were to depict my appreciation of how well he had done this Alicization story, then the first season before mercenary attack, it (the appreaction) was walking up the hill, while this season my appreciation is slowly sliding down a slope.
I am in no way defending this particular season, or how the author does not do thorough research while writing. The fault, however, is nowhere near that childish U.S.- S.D.F. subplot. The worst thing I can see here, in terms of logic, is how S.D.F. got bribed by American intelligence. Otherwise, the whole thing makes sense from the perspective of reality, how U.S.A. army does things and its overall portrayal in art. Unless you are what I accused you of, fanatical nationalists with as many braincells as there are vowels in the name of the nation, you are welcome to explain me, in terms more appropriate than "look how stupidly he writes, this whole plot is stupid", why the whole plot is stupid.

Um, sure, the U.S. military attacks the Japanese military to steal technology. Using mercenaries to do it. LOL

Please, go on about "fanatical nationalists" some more, Big Socialist Intellectual. While you support political terrorism and mass murder. Because your school teachers and your fave websites tell you to.

Or better yet, leave all your crap outside this thread that is about discussing an anime show. You're just an embarrassment.

Though I have to admit I laughed at "the guys are a military". You're what, ten?

Not sure whether I love or hate this episode. Thematically, it was brilliant. Tonally, it was brilliant. But something about interweaving so many past characters for the finale of a two-season arc that's been largely independent feels mechanically off a little. The underworld almost feels tainted now.

But, that being said, the episode was so well done that I'm not sure whether all that is negative OR positive subversion.

We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths.
As death comes to embrace you, you will realise what you are.
That's what death is, don't you think?

Even Reki himself has admitted of being a bad writer and wishes to improve so IDK how the fuck you can be so dumb, dude.
SAO was written by a guy who thought 20k was a very big number for an MMORPG's population.
"Overcoming the limitations of the system" No that's just an asspull to make edgelord look even edgier. If you've ever touched a single line in studio code, systems don't fucking work that way. Do you know what that's called? A plothole. For trying to be a serious anime, SAO throws it all in the toilet and flushes it halfway through season 1. And now alicization, the quest of retrieving Alice. The premise was looking nice and all but since Reki wrote is way back when he was not trying to improve but fantasize about his harem, he fucked up, again.
And if by any chance you think "oh its an anime, anything can happen" then it has to be some superphenomenon whereas SAO is set in a world governed by conventional physics.
And the very fact that an in-game player was allowed to use the console, in a DEATH MATCH ruins the whole point. "Oh let's use this console here to revive my AI daughter cause of course she's more important than logging out the players trapped here."
I don't have much problem with a writer who's honestly trying to improve himself. Actually, that's quite admirable.
The problem is the SAO fantards who try to pass off the original series as the greatest thing that has ever happened to humanity since the extinction of neanderthals.

Even Reki himself has admitted of being a bad writer and wishes to improve so IDK how the fuck you can be so dumb, dude.
SAO was written by a guy who thought 20k was a very big number for an MMORPG's population."Overcoming the limitations of the system" No that's just an asspull to make edgelord look even edgier.

Lmao at this entire post. No it did not throw it out the window after the Aincrad arc, it has appeared several times in the show, including in Underworld where incarnation is has been describe and shown off several times. Aincrad, the name of the map of SAO is Aincrad, An Incarnate Radius. Maybe if you tried to watch the show you would have gotten it by now but clearly you did not. "But code doesn't work like that" yes congrats anime isn't real life. Next you will say you won't get transfered to an isekai-like world after getting run over by a truck. It's called fiction. I know, groundbreaking revelation. "And the very fact that an in-game player was allowed to use the console, in a DEATH MATCH ruins the whole point." Ok and players weren't supposed to access it. Only instead of putting a lock he placed it behind an immortal boss. And no he wasn't capable of freeing everyone. You know for someone who criticizes the writing, you clearly haven't read the original work. Blame the DIRECTION for failing to portray this.
"Even Reki himself has admitted of being a bad writer and wishes to improve so IDK how the fuck you can be so dumb, dude." He has only said this about certain parts of the LN, none of which you have mentioned here. You tried.
"The problem is the SAO fantards who try to pass off the original series as the greatest thing that has ever happened to humanity since the extinction of neanderthals." Or maybe you are too stupid to even give actual and valid criticism of SAO. Literally every point you have made has been debunked. Always funny when haters say SAO is bad or has bad writing when they themselves are incapable of reading subtitles or putting 2 and 2 together. But I understand, you need to somehow feel smart and that's by parroting very bad and already debunked criticisms. Keep crying lol.

The episode overall was pretty great, but, I've been to anime for over a decade and I just feel that it's about time they portray Americans as people. Heck, we are even more likely to have colorful hair than they are! I'm just getting really annoyed. In this day and age, how is an industry still getting their cultural research from jokes and stereotypes? That scene with that American guy made me feel sick to my stomach.... at least he has brown hair this time though....

Couldn't agree more. The whole reason I liked the first season of Alicization was because it didn't have Asuna and gang.

Lisbeth's speech with Unlasting playing over it gave me absolute goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. The virtual world can be just as real as the "real" world. What makes it real are the friends you make and the bonds you create.

Alicization is exploding.

Really loved her speech

At first I was like just those random gamers thinking why should I risk everything I have just to help them, I don't get anything out of it...

Then when she started about how we think of the games we play as our alternate reality and as to why we play it...It really got through my kokoro...damn girl, that's all you had to say...

Its one of the few speeches that ever inspired me(not just from anime but also real world speeches)

Yes, it did bring tears to my eyes but they are happy tears.

I Love You People...

Amazing how I'm supposed to remember characters from Gun Gale Online or something for this last episode. I mean who were those girls?

Also, so what if Alice is used as an AI for the American Air Force? Is this Japanese anti-American bashing that I thought I'd last seen in Read or Die?

I guess that speech works for Otaku. The person giving speech must be a cute girl of course.
Damn I thought this Alicization arc was pretty good. Now I think it'll get worse. Don't really care though.

There are 12 episodes out and the new one releases next Saturday, so why does MAL say SAO Alicetization has 12 episodes only and is completed? It obviously will have 24-26 and even the end of episode 12 shows that. Someone needs to update MAL's SAO episode tag... (ಠ_ಠ)... i mean unless im wrong... but im sure im not...

lmao I like how the most important part isnt the inability to log out or that you will likely get PTSD from the pain sensation but that you could lose your character.

Not gonna lie, they nailed priorities of MMORPG players.

The only missing thing is acknowledging all the non japan players using VPN

Lol at the jealous ALO players who never got trapped in a game with a 20% fatality rate

Also lol at the engrish

I literally had to laugh non stop during her speech because well WoW players arent exactly top contributors to society

Realistically here the time isnt even an advantage. You dont want all the normies, you want the no lifer veteran players and those are online 4am

PS: With the amount of quinella flashbacks this season it feels like she has more screentime now than when she was alive

edit - rewatching this and it just occured to me how bizarre everything here is. Earlier it was set up the underworld is totally different from the other virtual ones, yet they can login without special equipment. And never mind calling your sub branch. How about you send for help lmao. To think I actually favoured this season over alicization.

I'm not a big fan of how they are now bringing old characters. This show was better without them tbh

I understand that Americans are no saint and American military is very unpopular around the world, but really? I don’t like how Americans are portrayed in most anime. If it wasn’t for American military North Korea would be invading South Korea and japan right about now.

Not to mention it was a Japanese research agency that started the project and Japanese SDF that colluded with the US military. Lisbeth’s speech was mostly characterizing Americans as dumb and evil. Needless to say the worst episode of the season so far. This anime is aimed towards a younger audience and I’d really wish that it would have been more apolitical. Watching this would just groom the younger Japanese generation to have a more negative view towards Americans.
