THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I'm falling for this opening, it is like pretty good.

Now we know that the lady warrior that appeared at the end of the past episode is not Milo but rather another member of the organization against Revisions, she demonstarted the value that she posseses in this series.

The battle between Daisuke and the enemy was well-animated and well-coordinated, Daisuke won showing how much he waited that moment to arrive and eventhough it was his first time controlling the robot he still came on top.

The Police appearance at the end was a little ridiculous but well that can work to advance the story. At the end Daisuke and the rest of the students were declared a team to fight against the Revisions organization and it prepared the stage for what is to come.

Daisuke is quite obnoxious. Hope something stops his delusions. I am glad that at least his friends are ready to call him out.

Yeah he's quite confident in himself and even obnoxious, the words of Milo grew too much on him

Exactly, same thoughts here.
Hopefully, there’ll be some unprecedented danger lying in the coming episodes to ‘discipline’ him, I honestly can’t stand him acting like a wannabe champion/hero during a crisis of such level.

Pretty cool fight, nevertheless! We’ve got the police and the other big shots of the town meeting up to come up with plans of security and such but it clearly isn’t working out yet. 2 more of those Puppets and only among those five childhood friends can maneuver it, no surprises there. Looks like the town has been jumped to 2388 somehow, hopefully we’ll get more info on this in the coming episodes. Cliffhanger after credits suggests that the opposition is planning for a grand scheme, that is unironically the ‘Salvation of Humanity’. Looking forward to seeing how this goes from here onwards!

Tbh, I already had low expectations, but I didn't expect the writing to be this bad. Will probably still finish this just for the lols because there are so many things that don't make any sense and are written poorly.

Though the situation itself isn't realistic, the way the police and the normal citizens acted was very unrealistic. Like why would the first thing the citizens do, going to the major and demanding an immediate explanation. And everyone just happens to think that's the top priority.

Or why would the guy talking to the major tell him how the internet wasn't working, how he couldn't call anyone and then afterwards he says "oh btw, apparently everything surrounding Shibuya is in ruins". Isn't that the first thing any normal human would tell him?

And then they question whether this Milo girl is from the future, but despite that let her carry a gun for self defense? Idk if I even understood the situation right, because it was very confusing and they suddenly went from not believing her to believing every word she said. Maybe I just misunderstood the situation though.

And then the way Daisuke acts, I honestly can't stand his arrogance and how he literally threw a tantrum in his prison cell because he wanted to pilot that mecha.

Oh and I nearly forgot the usual "it seems only these high school students can pilot the mechas".

Although it was bad written, I still enjoyed it, but more as a so bad it's good kind of show. So far 4/10, might consider dropping the score to 3/10 depending on how it continues.

I am afraid that wasn't my experience. I think it's clear some citizens would want explanations. Nothing unrealistic or badly written there. We didn't see the entire population of the city. Only a fraction.

Authorities will tend to re-state relatively obvious things as part of their reports. This happens in law enforcement as well as in administrative positions.

The self-defense bit is really just a formal excuse. They can't really take it away from her. I believe the point was they didn't completely believe her, but were pragmatic enough to go along with it.

Daisuke is supposed to be arrogant. It's part of how the other characters view him too. You can dislike it, but that isn't bad writing. We know his motivation.

High school age pilots are normal in mecha anime.

Not really sure the term "trainwreck" means any particular thing if you're applying it to a relatively standard show.

Yeah, they want explanations. However if you think realistically, do you think the major would have the answers to these questions straight after that happened? Probably not. He would probably be in a similar situation as normal citicizens. If the internet doesn't work and mobiles don't work either, so you can't call anyone, the same goes for the major as well. So how is he even supposed to find out what happened and give the people an explanation. The last thing I would do in a situation like that would be going to the major and demanding him to explain it because he probably doesn't know what happened either. So it would be pointless.

Yeah, but wouldn't you tell the most important fact first. And that's the fact that everything outside Shibuya was supposed to be in ruins. Maybe the guy didn't believe it, idk, but that's the first thing you would tell him. It makes total sense that he tells him that internet and phone calls don't work, however the issue I have is the order of importance in which he states these topics. Any normal person would report the part of everything outside Shibuya being in ruins first. He decides for some odd reason to report it last.

While I agree it could've been a formal excuse, the anime could've made that one more obvious. Also self defense was a pretty weak argument as an excuse since most people in that room probably weren't even aware that the revisions existed. Why use a weak excuse to explain why she still has her gun, when they explain all the stuff with the revisions 1-2 minutes later. There wasn't really any need for that excuse. I probably need to rewatch the part despite that because I got a lot of it wrong.

While yeah, I agree that you can make viewers hate your characters on purpose, that isn't necessarily good writing. I don't like it when the MC is that kind of character. I rather want to hate characters for their actions and not for their personalities. Daisuke is one of the most annoying MCs of any show I've seen so far. And tbf, I don't have many shows where I find the MC annoying. The only other that currently comes to my mind is Mirai Nikki. So even characters that you are supposed to hate can be written in a bad way. And I'm not even sure whether we're supposed to hate Daisuke because they go out of their way to show that he's in the wrong at first only to be right at the end. It comes across as if arrogance could achieve things, which isn't a fitting message for an anime, even if it is unintended.

I don't mind that they are high school age piloting mecha, I mind that they're supposedly the only ones who can pilot them for no apparent reason. I think this trope has been done to death in the exact same way in other anime. To me this feels more of an excuse to let the main cast be the only ones to pilot mechas out of the whole civilization of Shibuya. Idk if the reason for that will be explained in the rest of the anime, but I'm expecting it won't be.

Hahaha! The String Puppet is awesome! Looks like Daisuke's going to have to learn how to use it though.

Now THAT is how you animate a fight scene. Different camera angles, slow motion to see which ammunition he's using, and the quick info given by the String Puppet made sure you understood everything that was going on.

"They're the law enforcement of this era? Perfect. You saved me the trouble of finding you. Let's go." Based Milo.

"What happened to Daisuke?"
"He threw a tantrum and is sulking now." LOL

A bunch of asses in that meeting room...

Hiyocchi is voicing the bunny girl...

Daisuke's getting full of himself. Looks like this story is going to teach him that being the protector of the people isn't all fun and games when his overconfidence gets himself and others in trouble.

Both Milos are definitely the same Milo. A simple time loop would explain why Milo said this was the first time she met the students. The Milo they met several years in the past in the students' timeline, that was Milo in the future on her timeline. Also explains why she knew the "prophecy"

"We have 2 more mecha robots on the way to help protect the city. But for unexplained reason, they can only be piloted by these specific highschool students." wow, excellent plot writing, gj gj

I don't recall if they had already spelled it out during the second episode, but there is an explanation. They do come back to the subject later on.

For once in the history of the mecha anime the police is doing something. In the most cases the police or defense forces are not appearing on the screen and even if, they are just massacred.

This time they went for the most plausible solution. They got attacked and they choose to approve any help they can get.

"Master, huh" - the way he said that was priceless. Sounds like a retarded children found his new toy. What an annoying tool he is.

Man, I can't believe this Shinji 2.0 Daisuke guy with overconfidence will be the leader... I can't even take him seriously with that attitude as if he were in a movie or something. However, I have the feeling that he will have to face a big tragedy to realize that this isn't a game. I just hope this to happen sooner rather than later.

Other than that, it was a pretty bad episode but at least we had a bit more of Milos. So far, she's the only character I'm a bit interested in.

Ungrateful pricks. Technically, Daisuke could have told the police to shove it, since they aren't in Kansas anymore. But their reaction was understandable and Milo wants to cooperate with them.

Fortunately, the mayor is quite levelheaded. Establishing a provisional government is the right course.

Seeing a kemonomimi surprised me. I'm curious what her deal is.
