I'm so excited for this! The 4th part of Lupin is one of my all time favorites and I really hoped they would visit other parts of Europe with new seasons. It's happening! The country I was also thinking would be next likely candidate was France and here we are! This looks like a direct continuation from part IV based on the blue Jacket and I'm beyond hyped!

I guess your dear Lupin III will see his grand-father grave, Arsène Lupin is French after all (written my Maurice Leblanc). Else I suppose we will see Versailles, he already went to the Louvre in the last season. And I suppose there will be something around Napoléon.

I used to consider myself a Lupin fan since the 90's and still the last series was by far my favorite Lupin anything. I'm pretty hyped for this new one.

From that teaser artwork, it looks like a continuation of the 2015 Lupin show, except they're going to France.

It had its ups and downs. The downs were very painful but the ups were a lot of fun. I assume Rebecca isn't in the new season so it's already a doubly better show.

This. Oh and no Rebecca and more one-shot episodes please. "The Dream of Italy" ones were much more painful to watch then the rest of it.

to each their own i guess. I liked the standalones but i also like how it had an overarching plot, and i love when they bring psychedelic stuff into lupin so i liked the italian dream / mi6 stuff

i will agree rebecca was annoying and at times took away from the great mine fujikos presence but its not bad to have temporary characters like her sometimes as long as they are well done

Um no, Rebecca was a great new character and it'd be awesome if she returned. Y'all are crazy, this is the first time I've seen people complain about her. Or part 4 for that matter. It was the best Lupin anime in a long time.

And damn JudgeRuthless, I checked out your list and you've got a serious case of shit taste. Classics like Spirited Away, Tokyo Godfathers and Gurren Lagann 1/10's? That's mind-boggling.

Just let them be. I hope Rebecca comes back, she is great(and one of the hottest characters ever).

Is this being co-produced with France like the Italian themed series was?

I hope it digs into aspect of the original Lupin lore, it'd be cool if they hired Jean-Marc and Randy Lofficier as consultants.

I don't think so, at least for now we know nothing. If it gets a simultaneous French broadcast, then probably yes.

Unfortunately the series is super under-appreciated/rated on this site. :/ Despite it being one of the all-time classic anime series. I have no idea why, but they're missing out. I assume it's just younger and more narrow-minded audiences who are averse to anything that was made before they were born.

The previous series are totally worth watching btw. Part 4 is basically a hodgepodge of everything that was great about what came before it. I'd recommend starting with part 1. It's the shortest and more diverse in terms of tone and style. Part 2 is quite the undertaking on the other hand, but I've put together a list of what I, as well as various fans and polls, generally consider to be the "best" episodes to check out for people wanting to get into it if you're interested.

Am I the only one who wants to see some actual progression in Lupin and Fujiko's "will they, won't they, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't" relationship? I'm not delusional right? She clearly has feelings for him, but just doesn't wear it on her sleeve like he does.

Sorry bud, this is the Lupin franchise, it doesn't work like that. If it hasn't changed after 50 years it won't anytime soon.

Yeah, lol. Their eternal cockteasing is a big part of what makes their relationship so appealing and fun to watch.

my biggest problem with the 2015 Lupin was how they watered down the adult content....which is probably why it has a pg13 rating here on MAL

I'm so excited about this season! A part of the new show is most likely to take place in Normandy, Maurice Leblanc (the creator of the character Arsène Lupin) loved this region and many of the original Lupin's adventures are happening around here.

The Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandy

Can't wait! The scenery will be amazing, once again.

You kidding? If anything it brought back some of the edge that the main series had been lacking since part 2. They literally had an entire episode centered around assassins being killed by numerous graphic and bloody headshots, lol. There are FAR more appropriate entries in the series that you could criticize for "watering down the adult content." You do know that it's popular with all ages in Japan, right? That's why its "edge" levels fluctuate depending on the series/continuity.

Part 4 was a great blend of the various tones and elements that have made the series so entertaining and enduring over the years. I can only hope that part 5 continues this trend. And judging by the PV they dropped that very much seems to be the case.
