Mangaka Etsushi Ogawa has announced via his Twitter account on Saturday that his Chinese cooking manga Chuuka Ichiban! (Cooking Master Boy) will get a sequel series titled Chuuka Ichiban! Kiwami to be serialized on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app on a bi-weekly basis starting November.

Chuuka Ichiban ran for 17 volumes between 1995 and 1999. The series began its serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine, then moved to Magazine Special, before returning to Weekly Shounen Magazine in 1997 under the title Shin Chuuka Ichiban. A TV anime adaptation by Nippon Animation aired in Spring 1997 for a total of 52 episodes. The manga also received a live-action drama in China in 2005 under the title Zhonghua Xiaodangjia. The story takes place in China in Qing Dynasty where Mao Hsing Liu, a young boy, challenges himself to be a great chef.

WHAT!? SERIOUSLY!? This really gives me hope of the continuation of the anime series, at least the remake so it would be faithful to the manga and with the newer animation.

The anime is the best cooking anime I've ever seen as I already rewatched it like 5 times.

OH! This sure is some good news. I really enjoyed the Chuuka Ichiban series but never expected a sequel - so I'm really happy and looking forward to this one.

Seriously? After almost 2 decades? And heck I totally forgot that I watched this when I'm still a kid.
It's not even on my list since it's too ridiculous for me to watch it. (I'm a kid so I loved comedy and action)
Oh well, I could really careless about it, but if I saw good reviews on the sequel I might re-watch the anime and read the manga as well.
Haters always gonna hate.

Shougeki no Souma? Get out of here. This is the real cooking anime LOL

Seriously though, this was my childhood. Watched it when i was still like 10 or so. If they adapted the sequel into anime i would very much like it.

Wow another reboot from a classic series. I'm really curious as to how this will turn out but it will probably not be as good as the original. Well hopefully this will encourage a remake or continuation of the first anime series.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. 20 years later wow.

This was my childhood, hopefully it'll get an anime reboot too since this is the kind of show where a more modern art style/animation would work perfectly unlike some other recent reboots cough Kino no Tabi cough.

Is this in 2018 or 2017? If it is in 2018 then wow what a great year for sequels..
