THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Ah this episode had more drama than I had expected.

I kinda felt bad for Poko at coming in during that argument. Kid almost feel into the waters. That fishing skill though. It's a damn octopus! I like how after Poko came in, the tense feeling of that argument got cool.

Poko always brighten anyone's day~

Ah yes, serious discussions of life choices, careers vs families, with a fishing backdrop. Plus more adorable Poco levity. Catching an octopus is pretty good, I guess, just beware the tentacles! XD

Wait that guy is a doctor? Who knew. I thought it would be some work involving physical strength.

Nice episode but ye nothing special so far. I will sound shallow but I would have preferred if Poko was a girl. I don't even know why I am so particular about that, but ye.

Also I am not liking the Gaogao thing, annoying.

Slow but really nice episode.

Nakajima is a bully but he's a nice guy. xD
It was nice seeing Nakajima and Souta converse about career and family and also reminisce about the past fishing trip.
Poko was adorable throughout the episode.

They caught an octopus, Wow, :O Poco is terrified by it. xD

I guess that's Souta sister at the end.

I'm still not used to the gaogao part maybe if it was done with puppets I'd be more interested. Nakajima is an interesting character to say the least and next episode we meet another new character. I like that nakajima's mom is trying to get him to find a bride I found that part funny and when he asked about poco being a boy or a girl and to be honest I'm glad poco is a boy and not a girl because I've seen a few anime's that follow this kind of plot single guy takes care of little girl so it's nice to see a boy for a change. I enjoyed the lessons in this mainly how much souta has changed since his high school days and how he appreciates being back home.

Another good episode!

I liked how Nakajima went from disliking Poco to laughing and having fun with him, looks like no one can resist that charm.
Seeing Souta and Poco interact is heartwarming, he really takes good care of the boy.
I wonder if the appearance of Souta's sister is going to make things harder for him.

That's good... My weekly slice of life was on point.

Nakajima scaring Poko with an octopus was really fun, I laughed a lot! He's a good character, but I'm more curious about Souta's sister. O:

Nice episode. Nakajima's got a nice car.
Hilariously irritated by Poko.

Nice to hear about Nakajima & Souta talk about what they've been doing.
Nakajima working hard as a doctor & wanting to help his patients.

Hmm wonder how Souta got that leg injury.
LOL Poko ate some of the bait. Didn't expect them to catch an Octopus.

Haha that Gaogao skit at the end & they ate the Octopus.

Aww I like Nakajima and how he messes with Poco. Also how he doesn't pull punches with Souta.

Despite the shape-shifting tanuki this show is actually quite down to earth, which I like.

Edit: not to say I dislike the Tanuki! I meant it as a contrast...

When it comes to this kind of series, a fishing episode is must! Just like Barakamon!

The linking of lighthouse guiding the boats in sea to come back home with Souta's coming back to home was nice and touchy!

This was an adorable episode. Poco getting ready was so cute xD Nakajima is a fun character. It was nice seeing him and Souta discuss about their lives. Pretty cool he is a doctor, but it seems that is all he could be. It was hilarious when he was poking fun at Poco, especially with that octopus xD I wonder how Souta got hurt.... And it looks like we are going to see Souta's sister next episode. Excited for the next one.

If you think about it, "Why is there a shape-shifting tanuki." I'm not complaining or anything, but it is strange to have a random suppernatural element in a really down to earth anime.
My guess is 1. It makes the show stand out and 2. Souta must suddenly have a kid somehow.

As for the actual episode, I want to believe Sugita and Nakamura actually act like friends in real life like they do in the show. I hear they're really close (and maybe too close).

Some friendly talk during fishing time. And they reach some "conclusion" after get a fish, or in this one an octopus.

This episode was really good. I don't know how to explain it other than it felt "real". I didn't care for the first episode but the second and now third have been above average. The only issue I have left is I wish they'd remove the cartoon at the end and give us 2-3 more minutes of the actual show.

Nakajima was a fun guy. "There's no patient at death's doorstep" lol. That's not what a doctor should be saying lol. But then again, it's a pretty valid reason to take things a bit lightly lol. I liked how he was swinging Poco around when he touched his car or whatever and then said that he would have swung him around if he had known Poco was a boy. How much would he have swung the kid around?

Thanks to Poco, Souta is coming to like his hometown again and is confused whether to sell the house and restaurant and go back to Tokyo or not. He is starting to remember all the good memories of his childhood and school days with being with Poco. And now I think that woman is Souta's sister who is now here and is seeing two grown men sleeping together with a kid.

That Gaogao thing was funny. A giant sunglasses wearing octopus shows out of nowhere and is about to use its slimy tentacles for something questionable lol. And the lighthouse fires an earth destroying cannon which is flicked away like it was nothing. And Gaogao is starting to like earth more.

Damn Sugita, you really bully young tanuki bois. The episode was nice and relaxing, just two pals hanging out after ages and talking about life.

Based on the preview last week I thought this will be a simple fishing activity and yet these two men are talking about serious topic such as marriage and career. I kind of agree the theory that Nakajima mentioned where some people chose to build family to attain happiness while others try to concentrate more on career. It definitely is something that society has known about and have thought over... I wonder if upcoming episodes will discuss topic such as this.

I was definitely happy when the preview of last week showed that Souta will spent time with Nakajima and throughout this week's episode I can't help but see similarities between the characters and their seiyuu's friendship<3

Ah! Not sure if this is correct or not but at the beginning where Nakajima calls out to Souta it feels like a reenactment(?) of how Shizuo calls out Izaya in 'Durara!!' although I might be wrong since I didn't watch the anime.

And the thing I find lacking in this anime could possibly be the volume of sound. Not sure if it's because Kagawa Prefecture people does tend to have lower voice when speaking or maybe not..

As good an episode as this was, it really makes it way too obvious where this story is headed from here. Not that that's necessarily bad though, as I'm sure the show will find ways to be worth watching despite that.

Also, I don't like the Gaogao stuff at the end of each episode, but it was funny how the octopus was voiced by the same person who voiced Koro-sensei.

Ahh. Marriage and career. Things that most people are allergic from.

Now that is how you make a SoL. Simply real.

And I'm skipping the Gaogao parts, it doesn't belong here.
All people have their own sh*t tastes, therefore, there are no sh*t tastes, since everything is equally sh*t.

Aah this episode is a different route from the previous two.
More serious & it was nice.
I like anime that can show two sides & not just one side of cuteness or one side of seriousness.
I've always thought variety is the spice to life hehe

Anyways, I felt bad for (but also couldn't help laugh at) poor Poco being harassed by Souta's friend!

I like analyzing & from what I know from the first episode of Souta's sharp-toothed friend, is that he didn't like how Souta's accent changed since going to Tokyo.
In this episode, he's annoyed by Poco & he's annoyed with the idea of marriage.
He doesn't seem to like changes.

So from what I gathered, he was giving Poco a hard time because Poco reminds him of how much he doesn't want to get married yet, & also seeing his (best?) childhood friend, Souta, with a kid probably made him think of how close Souta was to entering fatherhood, if could, & thus could distance one another from hanging out as they did back in high school.

Or he's just a big jerk to kids xP

I mean, who can not like Poco? He's so cute~! >w<

Anyways, can't wait to see more!! I'm really loving this show, & I cannot wait a week! ;A;

Nakajima is such a man child. He reminds me of some guys I knew from school who never wanted to grow up, even after graduating from uni. He just has to attack whatever goes against his beliefs.

Poco was cute this episode, but I think his presence was to indicate the differences in attitude between Nakajima and Souta. One is a hardcore bachelor, whilst the other is way more easygoing and less confrontational.

Not saying one is better than the other, but to each his own lifestyle I guess.

Nice that this episode was focused on Souta's future. Nakajima really made this episode, Gintoki's seiyuu is so cool. It was funny how he always played with Poco, but was here to advice Souta :).
I hope that there will be other serious episodes because I would like that he resumes the restaurant.

I notice that Souta doesn't have a Sanuki/Shikoku dialect unlike everyone else around him (or I'm just not good at detecting dialect/accents especially when it's very faint) because his way of speaking seems like standard Japanese. Even when he was in high school, he had a standard/Tokyo accent.

LOL Nakajima doesn't seem like any doctor I've met. Having Sugita Tomokazu as his seiyuu just makes his character ten times more likable.

I know how they feel though, being almost 30 and people pushing you to get married. It's annoying. Funny thing is, the people telling me to get married have the WORST marriages and relationships ever.

Ah real talk this ep., this show has some stuff that unexpectedly hits home pretty hard for a comedy SoL.

I have never identified as strongly with someone as with Nakaji; I imagine that's exactly what I'll be like in 5 years time, albeit with better teeth.
