Chikako is bae. I really like her character and her interactions with Tsukamoto. Tsukamoto having a soccer match with that one bully was really great. Tsukamoto outplayed him and even Chikako cheered for Tsukamoto.Really liking this anime more.

I totally laughed at the Tsukamoron moment.. Oh my god, is that his new nickname? Liked Chikako a lot- although kinda skeptical about her being manager tho.. Why you always gotta do this in sport animes? I don't get it with female supporting characters as manager in some sports anime.. Hmm.. But I'll have to get used to it. My favorite character so far is Kazama cause he's so amazing and pretty chill. Overall, good episode.. As far as character development wise- I think Tsukushi is winning me over with his practicing and showing off skills.

Miss Washboard became their Seiseki's soccer club Manager.
The more she gets annoyed to Bakatsuka, the more that she could not take off her attention to him. A bit sweet!
4/5.

In short, Chikako is appeared before training camp, but joined to club after Tsukamoto won that judo guy, i.e. after camp. They also skip story about Tsukamoto's mother, but probably show that story before tournament start.

I knew that flatbread was going to become manager.

Basically, she's pissed at people who try harder than her. Butt-fucking-hurt. Owchies. ouch.

Manager-chan projecting so hard in this episode. I like her, though.

This was actually a decent episode.

not really like this episode tbh, but overall i enjoyed it :D
but there is something that bothers me a lot; what that asshole grabbed mc's clothes while playing soccer, ISN'T THAT FOUL ? the heck with that seriously ? i don't like that at all tbh. one of the worst scene imo from this series. but other than that, it was okay.

The girl who got focused more in this episode was annoying which is the main reason why i didn't kinda like this episode. well, she has her own cute side but still, annoying.

It's not a professional match but casual school gym lesson. No one really cares.

I'm more surprised that Tsukamoto was able to over power judo guy cause judo people are specialists at over powering.

Seriously fed up with judo people always being shown as some simple minded pricks. Japan totally does not respect its own sport.

I really liked this episode, Tsukamoto lot to learn and keep running (even from morning to night), i really admire his ambition to devote himself to the world of football. Besides many interlude scene after scene that makes thin laughter in advance. I can't fault Chikako because of her attitude toward Tsukamoto, she was rude, but maybe she saw to the fact that the desire is too high will make you fall into a deep abyss.

even get this far, i'm glad to see everyone is aware that "you can't judge a person by its cover"

btw, can i ship Chikako x Tsukamoto? haha

wait, so why did Chikako become the manager to begin with? It's not like she actually knows enough about soccer to give advice or anything - guess managers don't need to know deeply about the game itself?

Axelucard said:
she's right but she was harsh about it

wasn't the whole point of the episode to say that she was wrong??
Like yeah, we know Tsukamoto will never become Kazama (because he's not trying to) and what he's doing isn't pointless (because he's obvi gonna get better and become captain in two years).

The whole scene with the girl pretty much came out of nowhere and felt unnatural to the point I didn’t really care. There was a similar episode to this one in Yosuda’s OverDrive, but it was handled much better than here. Unlike Days, there was a proper built-up leading to the scene between both characters.

Honesty, so far this whole series just feel like a poor man’s version of Yosuda’s previous work OverDrive, but instead of cycling, we got soccer. I also find the transitions between most scenes to be somewhat jarring. Maybe, the manga is better in that regard.

As far sport shounen series go, I’m still enjoying the series, but to a certain degree. Sad we never got a second season of OverDrive though (or Giant Killing (a more ground-level soccer series) for matter fact).

Would be great if Chikako & Tsukamoto hooked up.

But idk. Saying Kurusu, a soccer player, is stronger than a Judoka isn't very realistic haha.

I liked the new girl a bit by the end, but she was so annoying this episode.
This anime was so good before the annoying girls were introduced.

I hope the manager isn't shown much. The anime is better without her.
This ep was pretty jarring. To be fair, there should be a cutesy girls anime where
there's one episode with a boy as the main character that turns out to be a recurring character.

That's as dumb as this ep.

Chikako taking out the frustrations of her own failures on poor Tsukamoto. But it's nice to see that she can change.

At least Ubukata started to care for Tsukamoto, but she wasn't the only cause for Tsukamoto to be late *Looks at classmates playing baseball in classroom*

Quite an strange way for the captain to injure his foot, thought it was in a match or something

Where is the damn teacher when that judo guy made that foul

lol. I love how bad he is at telling when someone's trying to discourage him ;)

How'd she manage to get the manager gig? Wouldn't it be in fairly high demand with such a renowned team? Did she make the former manager have an "accident" or something?

Good thing it was only for half the episode but seriously, what an awful way to introduce a new character. Portraying Chikako as an absolute bitch while having her trying to bring MC down as a way to feel better with the fact of her being a failure at writing novels... rather lame, honestly.
And also, such a renowned high-school and the football team didn't have a manager until now?

Grabbing him by the shirt and holding him in place is a straight red card. 2/10 for realism.

Funny how Chikako went from asshole to relatively nice in a single episode. That's some rushed character development.
Pretend there's something flashy and cool here.
