That´s great
The movie makes the ending feel way less cheap, adds to some unexplained plot points and the main characters.
How was Ergo Proxy? I'm sure it was confusing but hopefully thinking about it, the show was worth it in the end.
Also, New poll! Vote if you want to
Kyoukai no Kanata is very unfortunate mediocrity. Kyo Ani brings the CUTE with the visuals but fails to grasp a consistent tone. Is it a dark fantasy with conspiracies and overcoming the thought of having killed someone? A light fantasy where killing colorful monsters nets you money bonuses? Or a typical school rom com with all the cliches you'd expect? Problem is that Kyo Ani isn't exactly an action based studio, as while the fight scenes that exist look pretty good, the show does all of the Kyo Ani cliches relying on over cuteness, high school clubs, four people ensemble, etc. Normally this is fine but doesn't work when considering the serious plot it wants to tell and how flat and dry the characters are. Most memorable scene from the show is a scene at the end of episode 6. You'll know the one.
The last few seconds are really dumb on their own, but I'd recommend following it up with the film.
Yeah, K-on was great in how it focused less on plot and more on just cute high school girls being moe and shit without being a one-trick pony. Probably one of the most fun series I'll ever watch, but nothing will be as fun as Baccano!. Wonder how Hibike will compare.
Happy New Year, Katzuki! I'll do my best for 2017. You be sure to do the same, and I'll root for ya with uni!
2017 could not come soon enough. This year was pretty tough for a lot of people, what with politics and world events involved, and I've had my fair share of problems as well. What's your New Year's Resolution if you make any? Mine is to get back into society any way possible, whether by job or going outside more lol
Planetes reminds me a lot of Shirobako in a sense, a good sense
Yes, the goals of cleaning up space garbage (reminds me of my least favorite Mario Galaxy mission) and creating an anime are totally different, but both shows are nice and something more in regards to showing attitudes in the workplace. The space setting gives the show a standout feature for other shows like it as far as mature plot ideas, and in regards to the animation it shows really well. Much like Hyouka, because the show doesn't have to conserve budget for flashy action scenes, they can have a lot of movement even at the more casual times, which helps not only to make the show look better but replicate the zero gravity feeling of being up in space. Holds up really well thirteen years later. Thanks Studio Sunrise! The characters are alright, but I'm sure they'll grow on me. Favorite so far is probably Fee. It's a show about dreams of many different kinds at the moment, a slice of life set in a space station that's pretty enjoyable so far. It was also directed by the guy who would later direct Code Geass.
Haven't been watching too much anime lately, but have been slowly catching up on my episode intake everyday, so I've been stuck on LL for a while. Will finish tomorrow with the movie. Pretty good for a musical series led by women characters, though K-on has a good edge above it with animation, songs, the cast itself and a broader sense of fun. Also heard Hibike Euphonium is good as well, and also by KyoAni.
Mostly bought Nintendo stuff until 2010. Played all the main Zelda games on console (Wind Waker is, without a doubt, my #1 game of all time. What's your fave Zelda game?), love Metroid Prime and Fusion as well as Zero Mission, the Mario Kart series, Fire Emblem, among other series I've played. Also, that's cool.
Exactly on all the points you made for Iggy. Definitely added more foundation to Re-l, Iggy, their relationship, as well as putting a nice touch on his final moments. Also loved her final goodbye to him; "Iggy. Even now, I still don't know who you really were. But I promise, I will someday."
Dubs for comfort and gauging the performances better, though I was a dub elitist before I opened up to amazing sub-only series like Anohana and Monogatari, so now if I can't stand the dub due to laziness on the ADR's fault or for cultural reasons, I'll switch without a problem now. Thankfully, I've only watched a few bad or lazy dubs compared to the rest, which range from fine to outstanding, so the Americans are doing a good job on that front, for the most part.
Pacing is off...
Hope you enjoy Proxy though, that one's great
Actually forgot to ask, but what games and other systems do you own as well? Also, to stop myself from beating around the bush, and excuse me for being blunt, what's your PSN account username? Always happy to make more friends on other media and share experiences. P.S. If you wanna share it secretly or not at all, I'm cool with that as well.
Even after watching it the 2nd time around, definitely Pino. It's a difficult task for anime developers to write strong or memorable child characters without falling hard on certain tropes or stereotypes, but with few exceptions like Pino, they can succeed. I love the wonder and curiosity she retains and obtains throughout the series as both a robot who obtained a soul and the girl birthed from gaining that soul, and she's a valuable companion to Vincent and later on another character. Also, the Tanooki suit. Something tells me it's more of a security blanket than just making a cute character more cute, but dangit, she's super adorbs either way! Also love Re-l, Vincent, Iggy (You'll see why on Ep. 13), gained more respect for Raul on 2nd viewing, and Daedalus is good too.
Btw, which do you prefer: Dub, sub, or depends on the series itself?
