What kinda question is this? Of course it exists. Every anime exists (unless it's announced on April Fool, in which case there's 90% chances it won't)
Though I assume you meant the subbed version. Yes, it just got released.

Rip power source. This turned meh fast. Many questions still remain unanswered, too. I assume they didn't have funds for the sequel, but did plan to make one. Well, I don't really care. I liked the protagonist at first, but now idc. It was okay.

This girl pissed me off to no end. I get her reasoning for wanting to know "Why?" but not everything needs to be laid out, explained to you like a dictionary. She should do some critical thinking for herself instead of being the precocious teen that she is, who would literally do the opposite of what people tell her to do just because she's too stupid to think for herself and draw her own conclusions. I bet if she was told "don't step in the rice paddies" she would say "I do what I want!" and proceeds to step in it full of blood-sucking leeches, crying and moaning "Why didn't you tell me sooner!?"

It started off with a good premise, but given it's story and direction, it's no wonder the score is so low. At least the art and music were pretty good.

Edit: I'm also not surprised no investors would give this director any money to launch a DVD/BD release, even after nearly a decade for an old project, which is probably why he used kickstarter and only gave people the trailer so they can't say no after giving him their money. It's not like backers can refund it if they don't like it.

Thank you for saving me some pain. From your description I'm sure I would rage at this if I ever watched it. The girl sounds like the ones who convert to Islam or get themselves pregnant by several different criminals out of pure guilt or to spite their parents and the society that brought them up. What this people need is psychological help and discipline, not encouragement from media.

I watched this, and very much enjoyed it. It's not every day you get a completely mythical tale like this one. It's a true shame this isn't longer.

It ended with the power source going kaput, but it was stupid to rely on such a messed up power source anyways when there's endless ways to get power. Including ever-present ambient atmospheric electricity. Also, no one said their economy was all digitized fake money like ours, so power outage could have been only a minor inconvenience of having no lights/appliances. Maybe darkening a bunch of factories, but that happens with natural disasters. That power source was too corrupt and delicate, and price is paid. It's not really the girl's business, she's just a curious shrine maiden who "tripped on a pebble and broke the generator unintentionally".

I strongly disagree with you on this. I'm very much like her and always have been. I'm an extremely critical thinker and spend my time figuring things out, but when people, especially parents, tell you to do or not to do something and refuse to give a reason, it's usually because their reasoning is flawed or they don't know why themselves but accepted it as the norm - just as that teacher did. Backlashing with a typical response of hand-waving it.

As far as it being a dangerous creature, i think you missed the point that a non-retarded person would realize sure it can be dangerous, but why does that mean you should go as far as destroying it. She probably came up with some hypotheses that maybe this machine and all the rubble up there was due to a war or something with them, and it could have been the scared people that oppressed the spirits. You don't kill all the tigers just because one mauled someone you know. By the way, there are plenty of people who live quite comfortably with tigers, they're just aware that they are dangerous. If you grow up with a tiger cub and it mauls you, it's because it doesn't know it's own strength, nor how delicate human flesh is. For your dumb leeches example, if they just said don't go in because there's leeches, then there would have been no argument or defiance. Ignorant obedience is disgusting and really terrible for a child's mental growth. She went up to the cloud-tree place because she was looking for answers, because stubborn gramps wouldn't explain and everyone else was ignorant, so her only choice was to pursue truth.

Just saying it's dangerous.... technically anything is dangerous, those airships can probably cause as much damage if they crash as that angry sprout. It's a flawed argument. If gramps explained the whole story in the first place instead of keeping it secret and expecting obedience none of it would have happened, and they could have fixed the problem in a more responsible manner. So no it's not the girl's fault, it's gramps' fault. Maybe it's only dangerous when it gets mad... Good, then just don't get it mad lol. That doesn't justify butchering it.

I have to say you overreacted to a short film. It's immensely difficult to execute a decent plot within such a short amount of time, and you get things which could have been better justified with more time.

Ps: that kind of plotline with the girl protecting her friend despite (gramps or whoever) saying it's dangerous and it clearly wrecking stuff (after it was shot the first time mind you, it retaliating like an upset person), is pretty common in anime.

>She also did say that she's not the type to "walk on the left side just because everyone says to walk on the right", and simply wants to know thoroughly why it's so necessary (modern day you'd submit such a reasoning as an academic paper for it to be reviewed and critiqued). Wanting to know the reason why these things are said they have to be a certain way is a good trait of questioning and scientific analysis. That's what someone with strong intellect does. Often times though, there's no real reason to "walk on the right", and insisting it be that way is completely pointless. People who are critical thinkers often contrast to society, not because they're rebels, but because a lot of things society does are pretty dumb and at times completely pointless or nonsensical.

Pps: there's probably more political reasons why this didn't get attention, not the story itself.

6 out of 10 (at this moment) is quite high as it's 60% of a perfect score after all. In case of using the entire 10-point rating scale as they do in sports I can't rate it more than 4 out of 10. Although small children would presumably adore it since it kinda looks like a child's dream. That being said, as a draft/prototype Coluboccoro is still quite promising so it's understandable why many people rate it high.

hmm... it says "Aired 2007"

9 years later.... where's episode 2 like the end of episode 1 suggested it will continue... where she goes in search of the "mystical land" while abandoning her people with next to no power and one of the only person that knows how to solve issues. (which is pretty much assumed to be dead)

What happened to the 100,000 dollars he obtained? This one episode barely cost 1000 USD to make basing on usual animation for a 30 min episode...

Did the guy just spend up to 5000 on this and ran off with the rest of 95,000 dollars?...

___ ___ ___

Kinda gives proof as to why Kickstarter is not always the best idea to invest in... in fact, most times it's some sort of Scam.
Like that one guy from 15 years ago obtained 50,000 dollar and wanted to make a MMORPG "with everything in it" but was never hear from again... all money ppls invested gone.
Kickstarter is basically for stupid rich ppls that doesn't research beforehand on how exactly the project will be done and ends up regretting about it.

No, not at all. Just because the creature went berserk after BEING TURNED TO ASHES, it doesn't mean that the girl who TRIED TO STOP IT BEFORE IT HAPPENED is a murderer. Besides, it wasn't even trying to kill the guy that literally used it and it's unborn siblings to power the city, it just destroyed the machine that did it. And if you really want to call someone a murderer, go ahead, but only after you can show any proof that the guy really died.

I feel like there was lots of potential but it wasn't executed well enough :( It was a really unique premise, and I liked the world-building. But I feel like a lot of the events were really random and kinda just present for in order to keep the plot going. Like the ferris wheel inside the shrine gate...why? And a lot of things that happened had no repercussions. How did Coluboccoro come back to life after getting blown up? And why did it suddenly go back to normal after getting hit by the second beam? Also if the forest was caving in on itself, why did it not all fall onto the city and cause a big problem?

Overall I thought it was okay. It had a unique presence and a lot of potential and it kept my attention. If it had a longer run time, I feel like more story elements could've been drawn out more instead of how rushed they were. I liked some of the OST, and especially the ED (ngl the ED was prolly my favorite part of this lol)() Props to the guy who made it singlehandedly, I have respect for him for that. 5-6/10

The ending reminded me of Seiji Fujishiro's shadow pictures. Rare do I see that style.

Overall glad to see an independent production with so much input from 1 person, reminded me of Cencoroll in that regard. I liked the message.
