THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER.
----------------------------------------
This mind game battle between Satoru and Yashiro is coming to a climax this chapter with the pieces coming together. And I gotta say, it is quite thrilling.

Satoru better get out of there fast though or it will really be game over for him D:

Yeah I'm bummed too that the mangaka ended up taking the simplest way out with the killer reveal.

Judging by the partially obscured dates of the next few chapters according to the contents page of this volume, something funky is going to happen, so that'll probably be interesting to see how they follow this chapter up. My guess is that the 'present time' that Satoru came from still exists and that he's probably going to go back there before this volume ends and see some notable changes.

I mean, if you impose that a likely culprit (based on our third-party knowledge as readers) should not be the actual perpetrator, because it would not be as thrilling, then that's a prescriptive problem. It seems to suit the story, and all the nuggets of information left throughout the first 28-or so chapters, both providing some kind of narrative intrigue and suspense, while not being too arbitrarily corny or "out-there" (remember, we're not reading Scooby Doo--the culprit doesn't have to be the most negligible character).

Whatever the case, what a waste of a perfectly good plot.

The plot, while concerning mystery quite a bit, has always stressed the idea of Satoru trying to reclaim what he'd lost--what he'd neglected. The story is more about reformation through action than solving a case, so I don't really see the glaring "waste of a good plot" in having the murder-mystery not drag on for ages.
It's natural for a person to deny he's a failure as a human being. That's why he searches for somebody who is more miserable than himself. That's why so much animosity exists on the internet. Those who aren't able to find a more miserable person, turn to the internet and call other people losers, even though they've never met. Just to make themselves feel superior. isn't that pathetic? There's a sense of security that comes from speaking badly of someone else. But that isn't true salvation. — Tatsuhiro Satou

Goddammit teacher. I wonder what will happen now with Satoru, it can't be end game for him already.

Meh it's actually the teach, talk about disappointment. I really liked the theory where Kenya's father was the culprit and the teach was just a highly convincing red herring.

So I'm guessing another rerun and this time Satoru tries to gather some hard evidence all while preventing further killings. Whatever the case, what a waste of a perfectly good plot.

????

Waste? Is it, Because your theory of Kenya's dad being the culprit did not became true??

Kenya's dad was just mentioned, he did not appear in front of the kids, even to the mc himself.

I suspected him ever since the first time I saw him yet I'm a bit disappointed by this revelation and how the hints were dropped in the past chapters.

Yo that was way too easy, in chap 27 everything was showing that it was the teacher, so I wanted to believe it wasn't him because it was so OBVIOUS. Turns out, it actually was him?! Like, everything was poiting towards that guy. I just wanted it to be more complicated than that lol

I don't care if the teacher's the culprit, this chapter is awesome. Man, the mind game between Yashiro and Sotaru should be good.

Well... talk about the disappointment....

I mean come on. Out of all the suspects, the author chose the most obvious one. He could've easily made the teacher a red herring with the "sensei" called by the manager on 2006 and red herring it to the 1988 events.

But noo.... it was a disappointment that it's so obvious that stupid people can realize it on first couple of chapters.

Oh well, I'm just gonna see how this will end now. Can't argue now that they already establish the killer.

I knew it from start, the killer's identity was predictable.

It is good because it was so obvious from the start, then the author tries to slowly make you think he is not the culprit and then just give you the middle finger.

+1

The mangaka kind of pulled a reverse twist by making the teacher so obvious we thought it couldn't be him just to say, "Ha! It actually is him!" This was excellent writing and an exceptionally thrilling chapter regardless of how "obvious" the culprit was.

In addition, resolving the "mystery" aspect early instead of making quite literally the entire manga revolve around that also makes it seem more innovative and gives more opportunities for something fresh.

I just hope this chapter is, indeed, followed up with something fresh and unpredictable.

For all those saying that this anime is bad think about it. Its actually pretty good, i haven't seen many series from the past few seasons that were even worth having a discussion about. Yeah the anime could have some improvements, but its a pretty good plot compared to some of the other anime plots that we have in winter season 2016. Compare this to an anime like, Sushi Police (no offense towards directors of that anime) but you'd come up empty handed from an anime like that. Not as much from this one though

Everyone seems to be disappointed by the fact that it's the Teacher but when you think about it after so many hints if he wasn't the one then it'd mean that all the hints would be just coincidences and that would be pretty stupid tbh

So now he knows.
Wonder what will now happen, another rerun or moving back to his timeline, cos I doubt he would be just randomly saved.
