Eh, the episode was okay I guess, felt more like a transition though.

I'm starting to like the assistant coach slightly more though..
Seems like all the players are getting focused again. Idk how far they will adapt this but if they shoot for Nationals, they better be ready. A soccer ball spotted this episode. Be funny if they played a round of that in this series

I kinda like the new ED song. However, I liked the previous OP song better than the new one.

This episode was focused on the pause before the next match, but what I liked the best was the scene where they played soccer. So cute hahaha
Also, while I'm glad Ochiai helps them, I still dislike him quite a lot.

Oh, and the new ED song killed me. "Glowing" hahaha

I love the both OP and ED song, but as Stark senpai said the previous OP was better.

It is good to see the second string hyped for the match. It will be like a challenge game for them.

And about Ochiai coach, he is a good tutor but still the same don't like him.

Kinda gave up expecting Ochiai to change his ways. Still, he is good at what he does.

Hopefully the 2nd string team wins just so it hits Ochiai in the gut figuratively :P

Its not Ochiai that you should worry for, its Kataoka.. that man doesn't seem to have any real plan with Sawamura, he only cared about Furuya

Aren't you getting them mixed up...? Kataoka is not someone who just cares about the best player, as far as I know.

No am not... he did say all that pretty things about how he want all the players to improve, but as a matter of fact Kataoka didn't say a thing when Ochiai mention about how he's just using Sawamura to encourage furuya,

And there is also the event that currently take place in the manga, we can't discuss it here, if you want more detail then take it to my profile.

Interesting dicussion, sort of got me to see things from another perspective other than Ochiai being self-driven. Kataoka does only seem to give somewhat general advice, like things almost anyone can give, with him also speaking only words of encouragement . Yet for Ochiai, he is straight with the players on what he thinks of them, in one saying, those who act like your friends can be the most dangerous (since we are more defenseless due to not knowing what to expect) . Kataoka never really talked badly about any players, yet his career is all murky right now. He sort of sees the team, but not so much for individual players.

Furuya learned a new pitch too... it is like going back to square one for the two.

New OP and ED!

This episode was great. The parallel between Ochiai coaching Furuya ("you can be the best in Japan") versus Kataoka coaching Sawamura ("you've done well but don't get conceited") was pretty apparent.

Kariba's such a brother, putting things in perspective when Sawamura was about to be disappointed that he was pitching for the second string.

Can't wait to see how the intra-squad game turns out. The second-string getting all fired up compared to the first-strin is yet again another example of Ochiai vs Kataoka's coaching.

So basically he only taught eijun the changeup to douse all hope he had for becoming ace. Douche Ochai...is what I want to say but now furuya knows a breaking ball and i cant say i hate that. Also FINALLY NORI IS DOING SOMETHING.Waited forever for that guy to pick himself up and improve since the inashiro loss.

Ohh I like the new OP, once again! They should keep using GLAY forever. It's not as upbeat or makes me hyped up for an episode, but I guess you can say it feels like fall/winter song, since it's slower. I love all the training sequences in the OP too. I think best part is when that one guy's hat flies up (looks so cool), and when Miyuki made sort of a victory pose. No Inashiro though this time

ED is good too, Oishi x Tom-H@ck again.

As for the episode, uuuugh Ochiai. He needs to stop talking. But yeah, it's true that Kataoka didn't say anything either. He usually says what he needs to say, but if he's not saying anything after Ochiai said the stuff about Eijun being a motivation for Furuya, then it might mean something. Who knows at this point though. Anyways, once again, we see that Ochiai is really good at instructing, telling the kids the key points so that they understand how to pitch or train. But still, he's no fun...he couldn't get the first string to be more excited about the game, versus Kataoka, who hyped up the second string. Granted, the second string seems to want this game more than the first string, but still. Looking forward to Eijun pitching against the first string!

Exciting time in Diamond no Ace. Furuya is no Honda Gorou, but nice to see him try other pitches. Nice new OP and ED.
I wonder how many more episode could be left. I just looked, I didn't know the manga had already ended. Looks like it will adapt all of the first manga. Then it will be more than 5 years for the sequel manga to end.
So no new Diamond no Ace anime for a long time after this

Well Furuya won't give up his title as the ace so of course he always wanna learn. After all, he sees Eijun as his rival. There's no way Furuya will overlook how Eijun improved and learned the change-up.

Anyway, the OP and ED is lovely. Can't wait for the first string vs second string match. The second string are so energetic. I hope they are going to win. [pray emoji]

This was a pretty good yet slow transition episode. Ochiai taught Furuya a off-speed pitch which I'm sure will come in handy. Kawakami finally trying to overcome his trauma and try to his sinker pitch. Sawamura flat out told coach Kataoka that the whole team knows about him resigning and it's really firing them up. I have a feeling Kataoka may be having second thoughts and might withdraw his resignation?

I'm really excited for this first-string vs second string match though. Ochiai being in charge of the first string team will be really interesting. Meanwhile, Kataoka which be leading the second string who have barely had much spotlight but Sawamura will be pitching for them~ Damn, I really like the new OP; it has a 'a new beginning' kind of vibe. : ) The ED is pretty nice too. I have a feeling Furuya is really gonna shine next week but I hope Sawamura can keep a hold of himself as well.

The new OP & ED is great and the OP did a nice job of hinting at what's to come later on the series.
So Ochiai's real reason for teaching him that change up right before the match was to have Eijun lose hope in himself as it relates to his talents and probably even break his form.I knew he was up to no good :/.I have to admit though that he seems to be good at the technical stuff.
It seems Furuya took his grandfather's advice about going after what he wants and not to expect any handouts seeing as how he asked Ochiai to teach him a breaking ball.I wonder if his leg is really completely healed though.
It's interesting that Kawakami, just like Furuya, has been spurred on to want to improve after watching Eijun's performance against Ouya.He seems to be a good pitcher albeit a bit too timid and so far he has been overshadowed by Furuya's and Eijun's presence. It would be nice if he got his time to shine too.
I also can't wait to see the 1st vs 2nd string match.I love Kataoka decided to coach the underdog 2nd stringers.I think it will be great for Eijun to experience going up against the batting line up of their regulars.

lol, better re-watch the episode of their inashiro match, teito match and ugumori. kataoka didn't say anything to what ochiai has said because it isn't true or what not, but we can't say for sure that it is true. as far i can see, kataoka favors sawamura cause he sees himself in sawamura back when he was a player and his fearlessness and reliability when the game is on the line.

Hmm, this game will be interesting. I wonder what other reason Coach Kataoka has to have this game and why he chose to coach the 2nd string.

My impressions of OPs and EDs can change dramatically, but as of now, I don't really like the new ED, but the new OP is good ^^

I admit Ochiai is certainly a better instructor with teaching the breaking balls but as coach he sucks with the whole mentality of only using gifted players and wanting to improve certain individuals.

Obviously, Furuya is Ochiai's favorite, and I admit he's a good coach too, but I'm worried that his presence might mix up Coach Kataoka's strategy. It seems like all the players are starting to follow his advice. I hope they don't forget their goal to keep the current coach in the team. Anything can happen though.
