The opening is quite unmemorable for me tbh.

Decent episode, the backstory felt a bit overplayed imo.
So far it hasn't become all that annoying to watch and is more on the comedy side(which was also quite weak tbh) but it slowly builds something up.That's a way better structure than having "lee feelz" from the get go imo.
Still a bit sad that they didn't make more with the potential of the concept from the first half of ep 1 though, but what can you do.
So far it's a decent watch for me and at times enjoyable. That's good.

The ending scene with the galaxy in the background looked nice, but the little sister kinda ruined it.
ED song is great though.

The MC is devolving into goodie two shoes by exploring his FEEEELINGS and being AMAAAAAZED at all those NIIIICE people.
We already started KEY's trademark sobstory backstories but its way too hectic to "feel" anything.
We got some mystery stuff and scifi stuff but it all feels like an afterthought to otaku pandering.
We also got some out of place angel-beatsy "comedy"
The rest of episode filled with typical KEY dirty otaku bait

This really does feel like Angel Beats 2

Lol yea felt the same that backstory was poorly written and way too typical of Key, but I was pretty much expecting them to go this route since "feels anime" seems to be the only thing they can do. I'll continue watching just to see how bad it will get lol.

Decent 2nd episode, but still much less tragical than AB's second episode. As I expected, it's going to be a good successor of Angel Beats so I'm looking forward to see next episodes.

I laughed many times at this episode, it's definitely key's show - the same kind of humour ;)

Wow tht was a 2nd episode that could have made or break this show. It was so well done, from what i thought was gonna be a stupid fantasy show to a more of a meaningul show like this, Key really brought it home. Hope it continues to get better.

However, it feels like the director is still working on Nao's character cause i feel like her character isnt consistent yet

Also I really wanna know why Nao's mom agreed to them going to tht school. She probably knew her son was gonna get exprimented on. Poor guy

I agree. I didn't love this anime the first episode. Like it was alright, and I could continue it. But I like a lot more after this episode. Now I'm truly looking forward to the next episode!

Let's see, there will be more backstory about another character, plot twists, growing romance and later the tragedy comes.

I hope Jun Maeda will deconstruct this pattern, if not this would be Angel Beats Mk. II.

So, the reason they forced Yu into their school was to stop him from becoming a test subject like Tomori's brother did? That certainly makes this whole scenario even more interesting, especially considering that it kinda seems like Yu's "older brother" may have suffered the same fate. Once again, I'm enjoying seeing these characters utilise their flawed powers in the ways they do, particularly Takajou and his teleportation. It's also interesting how Nao can go from ultra-moe one moment to aggressive and violent the next. I'm sure that has something to do with her past. Also, the OP is amazing and my new favourite of the season, and the ED is very good as well.

I'm just hoping that this series doesn't just lob in some random person with superpowers that the student council have to deal with every single episode.

A bit boring. still hating Nao and her back story was boring and the reason for going to that school was rubbish laughable to be honest. i don't know why Yuu is so interested in Nao at this point because she beat him up for no reason in the last episode. also i never knew that if someone starts crying it means they will not do the "bad" thing they where doing. i thought that Nao was going to beat him up like she did with Yuu (but to be honest he did deserve it this tie for shooting a arrow at her). 2/5.

Ok at least they added a real strong reason why they're going after people with abilities. Kinda cleared up the bad feelings I was left with from episode 1.

I quite dislike the character designs of Tomori and Ayu. I feel like their facial proportions are off bc their eyes are just too big...

Using the teleportation ability for a trivial thing like getting sandwiches without waiting in line is still going a bit overboard. It wasn't that funny, tbh.

Nao's backstory about his brother was a bit sad though. Wonder who that trustworthy person is that helped her and her brother.

Ayu would be much more likable if she didn't use words and phrases like "desu" and de gozaru. It feels like she's forcing herself to be adorable/cute.

Somewhat decent episode. The OP implies a lot of incoming feels. ED is pretty nice though.

Meanwhile Shirou's tragic backstory, told in brief flashes, is not hectic at all, indeed not too hectic to feel anything for the loss of his parents who we never even see, but we nevertheless understand it's importance despite never ever being shown what it is that he even lost

Ever heard of unit 731?

They were a japanese military unit in WW2 that conducted all kinds of grotesque human experiments too gruesome to describe here on captured prisoners of war.

All their members were pardoned by the US war crimes tribunals in exchange for the data they had collected.

So yes, you can totally torture the ever loving shit out of people and get away with it totally scot-free because of politics.

Also, don't forget that MKULTRA was totally a thing.

Key property, and P.A. Works <3. LOVE IT. Thought this was really a great episode! That scene of when he goes sandwich grabbing was hilarious. Also, the visuals when they entered the student council room, wow. That teleportation ability's not a bad way to catch culprits, lmao. I'm loving Nao, and her backstory's interesting and sad. Looks like there's a really dark side to this story. I can sense feels already. Loving both OP and ED, can't stop listening and watching! And imouto <3. Loving Charlotte so far! Bring me next episode already. Really want to see how this whole story unfold. I'm sure this is going to be great!

The opening is amaaaaaaaaazing, can't stop rewatching it.
A small detail from it: the girl who's floating on water in the opening has a similar hair style and color to the singer of Zhiend, the band that Nao's brother was part of. There are also feathers coming out of nowhere in that scene in the opening, so it might not be far-fetched to say that they might be related. It might also have something to do with the person who "saved" Nao.

Especially if said world has a setting of superpowers, which likely means the government would take even worse actions than in the real world.

I liked this episode a bit more than expected.
Opening had top notch animation.
Still have hope Yuu will not become a generic character according to some of his actions and manner of speak in this episode.
The "comedy" part was a bit unnecessary, considering how Yuu was lectured about his misuse of power....
The explanation for how they found out Yuu was kept simple but believable.
Its nice that archery photography guy atleast tried to use his powers, unlike a certain someone *sigh*. Good to see he got the whole explanation without getting beat up.

Sooo... they are catching people with special abilities so that other organizations wouldn't get them but they are putting them into big academy where every organization have to know about them... LOGIC!

And as I expected.. main hero stopped being mischeivous asshole about 5 minutes into his life in the school, and now he totally obeys what they tell him, "great" developement, really! (*sigh*). He even go as far as to apologize and in the end he is quite likeable.
Why to even have the past like that when it was scrapped during first episode? Surely to bait people who like edgy characters, right?

And what with this nonsense comedy of using their abilities in the school and to such stupid actions (sandwich steal f.e.)? They are acting way too carelessly, I doubt this is real world.

Still, I'm not really sure Ayane Sakura is good choice for Nao role.. Cause she still acts the same as in Oregairu, her VA characters turn all the same.

The second part of this episode was rather good I guess. The comet makes another appeareance which only proves its importance. I also liked their visit to Nao's brother and her explanation (whoever this mysterious benefactor is I wonder? Surely someone who doesn't want them to leave this world. And the girl on band poster? I bet Zhiend is someone who wants to get them out instead). And if Nao's brother had the ability and Nao has it, than surely Ayumi will have it too. I just wonder what that will be.

I think I'm already got the gist of it - they are doing everything to prevent being imprisoned by scientists yet they are already imprisoned in their special school. Heck, she even explained that in her brothers story, even her mother was doing everything to instill fear of leaving into her. Surely other students are fake and their sole purpose is to keep them there.

I bet they'll have to overcome this fear and escape. To the world where they'll be free to play guitar.

Great episode, the drama begins to appear in the anime dosing with good moments of comedy, especially regarding the different uses of the characters' abilities

I like this personality of Yuu, he seems to be honest with himself, but always shows a different side to the people around you, for now his only worry seems to be his sister, I would like to see his side trickster more present in the anime

I am beginning to think that the person who helped Nao may have some connection with Yuu, because a little mystery was left in this part as well, I want to see even more drama in this anime, I look forward for the next episodes ..
