They are nothing alike, Outbreak Company is some wish fulfillment bullshit that tried to make diplomacy in the fantasy world by turning them into otakus or some ridiculous beyond stupid reasons like that while Gate Jieitai tried to solve diplomacy through war and politics. tl;dr Outbreak Company is pretty much a poor man's Gate Jieitai and not the other way around. |
| Was onboard til’ the show tried to hammer down the fact that Itami is both soldier and otaku, with the latter being emphasized more than i was comfortable of. It makes the seriousness of the situation feel so awkward, and end up being a serious hiccup in a otherwise decent millitary-themed anime. |

| Have a mixed feeling picking this since A-1 and all. Also, why the visual in this one is much better while visuals for Denpa Kyoushi is ugly as heck!? As expected of A-1! Average otaku just turned into Lieutenant of soldiers in several days! Screw logic! Like, what did he do anyway? He's only screaming for other people to run, and just randomly and somehow skilled in stabbing one random enemy soldier! Pretty sure there are other soldiers did more than that in that incident! Why did he get so much recognition? Urgh, whatever. If there is any reason for keep watching this, is because of the 3 main girls, that's it. |

| Youji sure adapted quickly to the flying dragons and mounted soldiers killing people in the streets. Barely even a 'wtf' moment. But i guess, being an Otaku and loving that sort of shit, he was right in his element. Will be interesting to see how far those tanks go in the new land, since they will take an enormous amount of fuel to keep running. They better have a great supply line, or at least several fuel trucks following. The violence of the battle was a little too toned down for my liking, but i can live with it, as long as the plot keeps me coming back. Decent start anyways. |

| It was not very impressive, overall quite bad I'd say. The music was okay at times. GATE is basically the Imaginationland episodes of South Park in anime form. 2/5 I guess. |

| It was a decent first episode, although I would prefer it the invasion segment was longer, just to show more of the invaders, so we could know what drove them to the invasion. Maybe this will be shown later. Who knows. The show has much potential, hope they won't waste it. As for the upcoming three heroines, I wouldn't worry. Like in countless movies or shows, they will be there to act bewildered at every aspect of human civilization, and then foster a dialogue between Earthlings and whatever their world is called. |
| Love the first ep!! The MC is not a useless person getting saved by somebody else! He is intelligent and resourceful from the start! The episode had everything I was looking for: action, comedy, fantasy, good animation... (I really hope this doesn't end up being an harem/ecchi anime) Can wait for ep 2! |

Also, judging by the fact that it's 24 episodes long, and that the source material ends in 5 volumes, you can expect a pretty good and faithful adaption out of it, without a makeshift impromptu endings to make a season finale, and, that is often the case, are crappy. | First 5 minutes I was like "boy, that escalated quickly." Promising first episode. I definitely like the premise of the anime though. OP and ED were solid. |
