This episode was OK.

I hope that thief boy will be a recurring character in the next eps although chances are low.

Didn't expect the little boy to steal from the shop. I thought he was just purely interested in the things they sell/wants to make friends with Yune.

This is a slice of life with a good dose of culture shock is nice. I like the show so far :)

I felt so sorry for Yune this episode, and I understand because Japanese shop keepers usually are there with you till you exit the shop and want to address your every need, I understand how she feels. :'(

I think this is the first real culture shock in this anime. Personally, I do find the difference between community-based and individual-based places striking. Born and raised in America, my parents are from Southeast Asian countries, and having visited them, I can say that it's certainly more comfortable there. The mindset of isolation and distrust fosters unfriendliness and self-interests here. On top of that, it's so weird seeing commercials encouraging this, such as commercials for home security systems, self-defense weapons, neighborhood watches, movies and television shows about local criminals, and the news making it all seem commonplace. Sure there's crime in every town, but it's something that I've never liked.

I haven't been to Asia in a few years, so various westernized places could have had their mindsets changed to be more individualistic, so I don't know, I might just be talking smoke. Then again, the internet itself is an interesting beast. Now that's an enormous community, but even then, there are imaginary and non-physical borders that separate everyone, some of which that are created on purpose by people. Eh, ramblings aside, I appreciate Ikoku Meiro no Croisée for getting more into cultural differences beyond food and mannerisms at least.

I feel like I want to be like Yune and trust everyone, but after bad experiences, you think like Claude. It's sad that you can't people are always trying to dupe you all the time and you have to be so guarded.
