So despite being strong, competent fighter, making it through the preliminaries in the toughest martial arts tournament there is, as soon as Goku agrees to marry her, her first thought it to run out and buy pots n pans.

Wow, probably the most epic episode yet. That was a pretty good proposal from Goku, but I don't know why Chi-chi didn't stay to watch the tournament. Also, Krillin seems to be doing pretty good so far in his fight with Piccolo; I'm sure that will change soon.

Haha Goku has no idea what he just got himself into does he, poor guy he should have listened to Krillin =p. Also maybe if Chi-chi was still wearing that skimpy outfit she had on as a kid he would have recognized her >.>...

Anyways decent episode Krillin has put up an impressive fight so far but I have a feeling Piccolo is about to stomp our poor bald friend into the ground =(.

Great episode! Regreting watching DBZ before this 6 six years ago. Anyone else noticed Master Roshi's voice wasn't voiced by Kouhei Miyauchi in this episode :s

Edit: lol just confirmed Jōji Yanami filled in for him.

Damn sweet that Goku proposed to ChiChi!!! Didn't thought they'd include it in the story, I do hope they'll show something more about it than this! Really nice episode especially the start of the third fight as well, Kuririn sure has become powerful as well! Lets see what's next!

That was her thought for the past six years and eight months, at least. And she always was insanely strong, probably got that from her father

I knew I was going to like this episode based on the title alone. I can't believe Goku proposed. The first half was hilarious and the second half was pretty tense. Can't wait to see how the fight between Krillen and Ma-Junior turns out.

Well, to be fair, that was the entire reason she was there.

Proposal was quite cheesy, but still pretty cute.

One thing that really confused me about Goku though, one second he's saying something about understanding what his heart is telling him to do so he proposes (aaww), then immediately after, when Chi-Chi says she's in love with him, he's like, "love? what do you mean?" I mean, clearly his previous statement indicated that he does indeed understand the concept of love and he's been living in the real world with real people for the past 6 years (well all his life really if you count his gramps) and surely at some point he would have picked up one of the most fundamental concepts of human existence that's pretty much been present in some form in all his relationships with friends and family and I'm looking way too far into this.

Probably just a mistranslation in the dub. Seriously, just stick to the subs, much richer viewing experience, imho.

I thought that might be the case so I checked the subs and he still says he doesn't understand what love is, so I'd probably just chalk it up to poor writing.

Well after watching some 140 episodes dubbed I don't think I'll be switching over now haha. I find the dub to be really fun though, even though it has been rewritten quite a bit they've added in some really funny one-liners that aren't in the subs and that's been one of my favourite parts of the show!

LOL, Goku proposed but has absolutely no idea what he has done! Ahh that was hilarious, Chi-Chi has been waiting a long time for that. The first half or so of the episode was just so funny! Lol, Goku is going to get married!
Kuririn has gotten a lot stronger, he landed a nice surprise punch on Ma-Junior. And Kuririn can fly, that is awesome!

You didn't check the right thing. I've been watching the sub all the way through, goku doesn't say anything like "doing what my heart tells me to" at all in the earlier moment. He basically just says well I promised anyway and proposes. He doesn't know what love is but Im sure he'll figure it out... eventually.

Well... yeah I guess of course that's Chi Chi. I knew they got married at some point. The friend who got me to finally watch this series told me at some point. But that was so sudden. It was kind of amazing though. Especially that Goku just agrees to it despite not really wanting to and not fully understanding it. I'm excited to see more of Chi Chi, she's been interesting these past few episodes and her fight with Goku was fun. Hopefully she doesn't spend the rest of the tournament buying pots and pans or whatever. Finally holy crap the second biggest surprise of the episode was how much Kuririn's improved. His like heat seeking dodonpa type deal. And he can fly now too?! I can only assume Piccolo's going to kick his ass here. But he's already exceeded my expectations for this fight. This is why I love Tenkaichi Tournaments. An interesting thing happens in every episode. Sometimes even more than one thing!

It's hilarious that the only way for Goku to get a wife is for it to be forced on him, but Goku is too strong to let that happen by other peoples will, so Toriyama made Goku force himself to from a past promise. And the line "well.. a promise is a promise, so wanna get married" is so Goku.

Tenkaichi 3 had a horrible set up, do to what I've said before, it would've been much better if Piccolo jr had just shown up there and we got another adventure before it. But even that wouldn't make sense cause Kami-sama knows all. Despite the bad set up, Tenkaichi 3 has had the best episodes to date. The Chi Chi fight was hilarious, and it was so perfectly paced in comparison with a fight like Panputto's. Both were a means to an end, as in Panputto's was to show how strong Goku has gotten compared to an average pro fighter, and Chi Chi's was to get him married, but one was about 10 minutes well the other was a full 20. She may be a simple character, but she's really funny.

And man oh man, was I wrong about Kururin getting destroyed by Piccolo jr. Kururin immediately pulls three tricks and gets the first hit, applies intense aggression, and catches himself with a secretly learned flying technique(probably with pointers from Ten). I'm sorry for doubting you friend.

This episode, and the last had me so into them I couldn't look away, and both had jaw dropping moments, this episodes was the Piccolo jr fight. Assuming Kururin can't win because it's setting up for a Piccolo jr. vs Goku fight, I'm interested to see how well Kururin can keep up with a powered up Piccolo jr.

Side note, the designs to reflect time passing, and the new voice for Goku are some of the most impressive parts of this anime. They feel so natural and really give the impression of time passing and change within the cast.

The proposal was adorable. It was only mild of course since DB is not even a romance anime. But I don't mind a little love story of course. The moment Chi-chi left, Goku went back to business and warned Kuririn to watch out for Ma-Junior as if nothing happened lol

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

That proposal by Goku is so cute and amusing. Of course, the only way for an extremely dense Goku to get married is through a forgotten promise. You would think that someone like an 18-year-old Goku who has been living amongst civilization to know about the fundamentals of emotions and feelings. I think it is an endearing quality, regardless.

And boy did Krillin surprise me. He immediately whipped out various new techniques that left Piccolo Jr. no other choice but to fight unrestrained. Good job, Krillin, as impressive as ever. I am curious as to how he would deal with a fully aggressive Piccolo Jr.

I just love how naive Goku is. His appetite is so big that all he can think about is food. Chi-chi's temper changed rather quickly, haha. This match will be an interesting one. I highly doubt Kuririn will stand a chance, but it will be interesting to see nonetheless. Goku will get an idea of Piccolo Jr.'s strength.

16 Eps to go

I thought the fight would be amazing but it was rather funny, haha!! Only Ulong was intelligent enough to remember her. I expected Master Roushi would be the one to understand this. However Goku's not recognizing her is very possible. After the last tournament he was continuously under pressure. He had to do such a hard training. And Chichi is also changed a lot.

The fight was good enough but the knock out was amazing. Goku didn't even touch her. What a decent move!!! However everything was funny after that. I immediately remembered the promise made by Yamcha when Chichi was trying to let Goku remember his promise. Haha!! I knew Bulma would be so furious. And Chichi also mentioned this, haha!! The most amazing thing was when Goku said he thought bride is a food, haha!! A lot of us knew that Goku surely thought bride as a food, haha!! This was too funny.

Junior IS really stronger than Piccolo. He is too calm and confident. He is like 10 times more powerful and intelligent than Piccolo. Krillian surely is become very powerful. And he mastered the flying technique. I wonder why there is a stage for these fighters! Krillian's tracking beam was nice though I don't know its name. But next episode will be hilarious.

Still what is bothering me is that how in the world they filled the huge hole created by Tien last time. We never saw the end of it. Must've taken a lot of mud in there to fill. However this time I don't think the stage is somehow needed except something happens like last tournament, haha!!

Ah, so this is how Goku proposed to Chi-Chi :) I hope they host and show a wedding party after the tournament.

The second half started with an incredible fight between Krillin and Piccolo with Krillin holding his own which I was glad to see. I still think Piccolo will win but not without Krillin hopefully continuing to put up a good fight as he has in this episode.

Goku is the only Shonen protag to get married a quarter into his series. It was also perfectly in character for him. Also Kuririn doing actual damage to Piccolo was great.

THE LINE ABOUT LEARNING FLYING TECHNIQUE IN THE FILLER WASNT A THROWAWAY?? 😳😳🤯

I loved this episode though, we finally get a lot of screen time for Chichi. She is just as clumsy as Goku, just a little more knowledgeable in the romance department instead of fighting lol. And we get to see the swagger of Piccolo vs Krillin, who put up an impressive showing. Since both of them can levitate, I’m fearing this is going to end in a beat down instead of a ring out….

Haha, Japanese logic.

If a kid = Then wear skimpy clothing.

If an adult = Cover up in a black tent.

No wonder Goku had trouble recognizing her. Rewatching this show after years, and this part made me laugh.
