| Hey guys I'm sure most or many of you have whatsapp and since it can have up to 20 people in a group lets form one or maybe even two groups. It'll be perfect for chatting about anime and also just anything else. Nothing beats chatting with locals who share your interests. So I'm not sure about privacy and stuff would you like to post your number here or send it to me by PM. And finally what do you guys think of this idea? Looking foward to it guys. |
| Bot sure about the privacy aspect of this but it sounds like an awesome idea. I'm always using watsapp and it'd be a nice addition to the SA anime club as well as keeping it active and social :D |

| Havent used the group function but if its similar to normal one on one chatting, then im afraid I will have to say its not a very good idea. You may get text that you dont want to read or reply to but if the conversation is very active then your phone wont stop buzzing. Imagine this happening late at night. And switching off your phone isnt helpful as you will miss other text or calls. This board should be fine, maybe a Skype group would be better for instant chat in place of whatsapp. |
| Hmm I see the main concern is privacy. The problem is the only person who starts the group can invite people. Also if you're bothered about too many messages and feel it's getting in your way you have the option to leave. I've formed an anime group with people from JHB and CT and its really working well socially. So why not give this a shot among us local mal users!? :) Edit: just found out you can change tone settings on your group to vibrate even if your vibrate function isn't even on and you can even set it to 'none' so you get messages from the group with no tone sound being made. So that should help a lot:) |

| I say the best way to see if it works is to give it a shot. A skype group sounds like a good start and if there's enough interest we can start a watapp group? Or the other way around? I dont mind setting it up if people would feel safe enough to pm me their skype names :) Or alternatively numbers for a Watapp group. |

| Well the whole point i'm suggesting Whatsapp is because a lot of us probably have it as it's available across all phones, we will have quick access to it and therefore it's a lot easier to chat to everyone and also practicality. |
| Well whatever is finally decide on, will join. Though I do like the idea of whatsapp, as the main point at the start was to be able to chat whenever with other members, but in the long run it will be great to use something that can be used on PCs as well as phones. But hey, lets just test it out, see how it goes and build on from there :). @PixelBandit, I have no issue with you setting it up :), after all you are one of the main people here who is active and is always hauling in new South African members :D. So will be PMing you now |
