So, I wanted to create a quick topic to see what other people thought. With only one episode left in the season I'm already on the edge of my seat, hoping for a season 2. I can say this, if they decide to make a second Season, I'd like to see them expand upon the origins of the "Otherworld". I would also LOVE to see Black Matagi be part of it because she is one of my favorite BRS Charachters and I'm personally upset she wasn't in this. But what do you think? What or who would you like to see?

After watching this garbage, I quite frankly don't want a sequel. Heck no.

But if they DID make one, they should have better character development and a hint of realism to it - so the whiny tone is less existent.

OH! I apologize for the lack of the clarification. And I'm not whiny - I almost love every anime show I watch! It's just when I watch a show THIS bad - well, I get in a bad mood. And you think THAT'S whiny? ... Well... not going to say anything. I'm a fairly reserved guy myself, I think. Plus, I added what I wanted them to have without any tone of douchebaggery at all! Man - why am I getting so upset over a BRS fan 'fixing' me up? U_U

ANYWAYS...

No - that's not what I meant.
What I meant was I want the creators to make the characters seem REAL and believable - obviously the whole 'otherworld' thing is pure fiction and can't be portrayed realistically no matter how much you try. What I meant was that they should make the characters believable and not seem so conceived and fake - as it stands, they seem like something out of a badly written drama (and me saying that is being generous).

Fixed. But yeah, I sincerely apologize on the lack of clarification on the whole 'realism' part - now you know what I mean!
And if you disagree that the character designs are poor - may the Deer Lord have mercy on us all.

Not a single person wants a sequel. I don't see what people didn't like about the anime. These were 13 year old girls blowing things way out of proportion like children do. Obviously none of you have ever had brothers or sisters or even kids. they think the smallest thing is the end of the world. It would have been different if these were highschool girls but seeing as they were barely in their teens I can sort of understand them being over emotional. The problem most people are having with the anime was they were hoping for nothing but BRS and Dead Master fighting for 8 episodes straight. I think this was the best they could do with the amount of time they had and the money they were given.
That's why I'd like to see a second season though. maybe slow down the pace a bit more and explain the origin of the otherworld, or how it works. they have enough charachters in the BRS universe to make another season so I think it would be totally possible.

I feel compelled to point out that some of you folks are freakin' sheltered. It's obvious from the comments about "melodrama" that some people have never, ever experienced the depth of teenage irrationality, nor do they have much in the way of experience with abuse victims or the mentally unsound.

Absolutely everything that happened in this series is perfectly in line with individuals who live in a not-so-sound household, with the mental predisposition for some kind of faulty, irrational thinking, in addition to teenage hormones running really, really high.

So obviously those of you who could only think of how terrible it was because everything seemed "blown out of proportion" just aren't going to get it, because you've lived a sheltered lifestyle with no experience with the mentally unstable. Congratulations? It doesn't diminish from the series as a whole, it's just not going to click with you. Accept that and move on instead of constantly badmouthing it everywhere you go, would you? Hmph.

Not unless the same animators that worked on the ova participated.

Thank god. I think you are the first person who hasn't shot it down saying the main charachters are whiny little girls. Actually if I had one gripe with the show it's that when there original plan and where the show ended seems like they made a lot of last minute changes while they were shooting it. for the longest time, they had it playing out that Saya was the ultimate evil in the world, creating new demons through greif and sadness. Then she suddenly became good and with a very vague and sudden change. I know why they did it but it feels like it was a last minute idea and I think they should have stuck with the original plan because it would have been easier to follow

I did overall enjoy the series. I really like the fighting XD that was probably the most coolest part.

Since I am a teen myself, I understand what they are going through. I'm just going to complain about the characters design... I would prefer the Yomi/DM from the OVA than this series. I don't find the attractiveness of the characters design at all...

and maybe another thing to complain about is the story line. I find it to be too short and I believe there are some things haven't been answered yet. I think its better if this was a 12 eps or a 26 eps series. I totally don't mind for a sequel, just hope that it will be better than this one :)

Don't want a sequel. Need a remake with 12 episodes.

Need more setup before loading on fucktons of drama. With nothing going on in between, it's just a melodrama overdose. Nobody cares about drama when we don't even know the characters in the first place.

Actually I hated the show but I would like to have a sequel.

What would I like to see? Something nothing like this, go back and look at Huke's original artbooks and characters and GTFO with the shit they made for this.

Just look at this, it's beyond words. (comparison between TV and OVA)

You do realize the amount of money they had for the ova was over double what they had for the show. No shit it's going to have better animation. The OVA was a big enough budget to be put in theaters out here. I don't get what animation budget has to do with a good show.

Low animation budget=bad animation. Please don't tell me you can't understand how having bad art and animation makes a bad show that's from a franchise built on art. Not to mention every other show this season had much better animation and art.

Also why an OVA would have a bigger budget than a TV series is beyond me, can you tell me where you heard that? Genuinely curious.

I'd prefer an alternative setting, Besides.. I don't think there will be more of it if they made another season.

Well, you know, what is the embodiement of their very souls are made to fight to death in a parallel world, with the loser essentially losing part of their souls and part of the memories that shaped that soul the way it is. All the while, someone is secretly manipulating things in both worlds.
And I ask you this simple question: What on earth were you expected, that those girls would behave perfectly normal? HOW? If anything, if they were going on as if nothing happened, while their souls were butchering each other, I would consider it very, VERY unnatural...

On the topic: No, I want no sequels. What could they come up with anyway? Yet more of the same? It's gonna get old really fast. Or just battles in the other world? That is going to get old even faster... Unless they remade the whole franchise, got rid of the 2 worlds and just crafted some final-fantasy-esque world for the fighters, in which case yeah, if they think they can pull it off they're welcome to try...

What I want to see? Definitely not a sequel.

This thing won't work like that. It has no way of working. So long as the creators won't get out of the "Alternative world that reflects our troubles through chicks fighting" line of thinking, this will never work, for a very simple reason.

When I want to watch BRS, I want to watch cool chicks beating crap out of each other. I don't want drama. If I wanted drama, I'd watch Honey and Clover or something. Here, I just want to see BRS kick ass with her BFG and a sword. With the "alternative world" setting, you have to focus on our world, that's why they show more of friendship drama bullshit, and less of awesome fight scenes. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against drama if it's done well. But BRS is not a character made for drama FFS. She's designed to beat the crap out of her enemies with style and look the part.

How this COULD'VE worked? Maybe make a Meduka-like setting where the girls are some kind of mahou shoujo thing and get teleported to another world when they fight? Or make the main character athletic girl (to justify her skills later) and have her suddenly land in another world out of which she has to get out? And to do that, she has to fight Dead Master & co.? But you need to focus on BRS, not on some other girl for which BRS is an avatar...
