More like Daath didn't understand what he's facing in Shu. It's implied that Daath/Yuu has years of experience in weilding the Void Genome. But, both times Shu recieves the Void Genome, we get that Pillar of Light. We didn't see that happen when Gai took Shu's arm and the Void Genome.

There is a reason why Mana/Eve chose Shu to become Adam to her Eve. Part of that reason, may be why Shu was able to defeat Daath the way he did.

Going to have to agree with this - there is something definitely up with Shu getting the Void Genome and getting that giant pillar of light... twice. Remember, the 2nd one was also supposed to kill him when it was injected, but it didn't, if anything it seemed to make him stronger.
I think the pillar of light just plain means GOD HAS CHOSEN YOU. Something done many times and all.

Like many times people mention of Shu being compared to Jesus like the random helping of a UN soldier, the pillar of light is just a mention of him being chosen by God to save humanity. While Gai......well there is not symbols around him to indicate evil but do tell me if you see something as a sign about Gai that is evil. Such as sadness but that is more the emotional front.

He could give the whole cancer to Gai, since he can manipulate with its transfer(would be badass and ironic) at least I would do that to the guy who cut my freaking hand of. The scene with the eyebrows guy was rushed, since all he reveled was some pseudo philosophic bullshit and no real facts, but then again its common in anime, anyway I enjoyed the ep.

I sense a lot of haterade in this thread.

Anyway, this episode was okay. I didn't even pay attention to Shu on his scooter but kudos to whoever made "Rollin, be hatin" comment. I was laughing so fucking hard for a good minute.

I wished the Daath/Shu fight was longer but the show doesn't have enough time, which is sad. It felt rushed. Same with the backstories, I wish they had explained those a bit better but it's completely fine. Besides that, it was a typical GC episode.

Mana is back though. Bitch looks serious. Shu, please kick some ass (and hopefully, you and Inori will kiss once if you or her die....).

Not all anime requires deep thinking or some epic scene.

Sometimes you just want:

- moe/ecchi
- fights
- magic
- robots
- rocking soundtrack

GC fulfills those elements. So everyone stop trolling or saying its best thing since sliced bread.

Just watch it if you like it and watch something else if you don't (unless your a sadist)

I'd agree. Honestly, anything overhyped usually doesn't live up to the standards of its hype. Not saying nothing has never done this but I really only got attracted to this show because it was pretty. I was hoping it would be decent and it is just that. It's okay. I'd probably just go tell someone, if they want to see it, to watch Reassortment and just watch like bits of the second season. I enjoyed the show for what it's worth, even if it wasn't too much.

I. DO. NOT. UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gai wants to stop Mana by killing her to stop and finish what started on Lost Christmas.

BUT when he comes back to life he automatically wants to be Adam and work WITH MANA.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL. God this series just shit on itself.

Hmm awesome episode :)

This entire ep was crazy. Alot of part still left out as expected. Running on borrowed time it rushed alot of things. The attack by UN and Undertakers could've been more epic. Super weapons confirmed, the reason why I'm loving this. Specially all those void remnants surrounding them. Epic and flashy battles just the way i love them.
Prediction : Gai switches side because he wants it all to end at one point after being defeated by Shu during their "battle of the overpowered weapons" or something along those lines. Gai takes in the virus inside Shu and he's set free. Inori's memories are returned. Happily ever after just like Tsugami said. Season 2 - Daath kid plotting something.

Can everyone mention a "season 2" once it's actually announced. The bullshit "season 2" proclamations are getting on my nerves already.

Damn, Ayase was cute in this ep. Daath boss battle was good but was rushed. Shu's killing blast was quite anti-climactic.

Almost at the finish line! For next week, I'll guess that Shu and Inori live. Gai will see the error of his ways and probably sacrifices himself to stop the apocalypse. Tsugumi happy end!

here's what I think.

Gai will die. How? Unless there is a surprise twist here, at Shu's hand, or, wouldn't it be funny if Mana pulls his void, and then shu destroys it?

Mana is going to die too, and then Shu will play inori's song. What will that do? I'm not sure, bring all the virus to Shu who will become very advanced stage, and then he'll probably die. I don't know if Shu can cheat fate here and somehow create a new vessel for himself like Mana did with Inori... but I see the big 3 all dying.

Although I'd really like to see ShuxAyase if Inori is out of the picture, I just don't see that happening, unless they surprise me.

Although, It could be that like Dr Who on occasion, some 'friend' throws themself in harms way to protect Shu in the end. Wouldn't it be funny if Gai snaps out of what's been driving him, and then protects Shu from mana, which might give Shu a double Kings Power. I dunno. Weirder things could happen.

My question is, what are you guys all going to talk about after the next episode? LOL

Write a few reviews about it, talk about how uniquely bad it is (I say "uniquely", not "terribly"), say I don't regret watching it, and look forward to using it as reference in future anime conversations. Going to miss the discussions though. I love talking about this show.

Daath, who is supposed to be way stronger than Shu, got beaten in just a few moves?? Was Shu cheating??

I doubt Daath was really trying to kill Shu. My guess was he was testing Shu's resolve and once he got his answer he just gave up and left (teleported away like he did in episode 12).

Also notice that Daath lead Shu right to where Inori and Gai are.

OK episode. The whole "I loved him because he's human" stuff is stupid. If she loved a guy because he was human, then she would fall in love with every freaking man on the planet. Shu's excuse for loving Inori back wasn't too hot either. He loved her because she believed in him? His mom believed in him. Why doesn't he fall in love with his mom?

The facade of romance is very aggravating but I can kinda applaud the pickup of the pacing of the story. Mana seems like a good way to end.

Daath said himself, Shu gaining the 3rd Genome, regaining his power, made them reconsider Shu's place in the coming Apocalypse. That's why he seperated Shu from the others and brought him to the place where they fought. To determine if Shu was worthy, or had the right mindset, to become Mana's King/Adam. Once he got his answer, he tried to Kill Shu, drawing the Voids of his Followers / Daath Members, to use against Shu. Once they were gone, Daath no longer had the means to fight Shu and had to withdraw. But, it's important to note that Daath never touched Shu during this fight. Shu on the other hand, not only parried, blocked or dodged Daath's attacks, he landed a very strong attack on Daath, throwing him across the room, stunning him. Forcing Daath to go all out against Shu, only for his attack to be countered and thrown right back at him along with Shu's own attack.
Summoning Dark: "What kind of human creates his own policeman?"

Watcman: "One who fears the dark."

"And so he should," said the enity, with satisfaction.

"Indeed. But I think you misunderstand. I am not here to keep the darkness out. I'm here to keep it in." There was a clink of metal as the shadowy watchman lifted a dark lantern and opened it's little door. Orange light cut through the blackness. "Call me . . . the Guarding Dark. Imagine how strong I must be."

I hate to call you shallow but you are really missing the point lol. When you read something you should always try to understand what it really means..use context clues..and if you still can't figure it out ask for help. Yes everyone is human, but what does it mean to be human? Its a philosophical question...and one that has pretty deep meaning.

If you don't understand it thats okay, but don't act like it was stupid because you failed to comprehend it. Its a rather deep admission on her part, and Shu is definitely the most human character in the series. We could discuss it further, but your post leads me to believe you have no interest in what either of them were really talking about.

-That satellite bluff is bullshhiiiiiizzzzz. Lame excuse yet again even if it makes abit of sense. They should've made the bluff discovery more dynamic than being all monotone.

-Oh Ayase still needs to die. Souta still needs to die.

yeah the satellite bluff being mentioned so quikcly kinda makes it seem like they just wanted to shorten the plot or something (or maybe they genuinely wanted to add the useless detail to draw out the sub-sub story out a bit more? I swear this happened with Haruka as well, she seemed to have identical hair to Shu originally, but became more ginger a few episodes before the one where it reveals they're unrelated.

also do we actually know what Yuu/daath is or does? I know they're some sort of "will of the human race"-gone-cyber-eyebrows, but how does that fit in with the sci-fi theme, it just seems like the took the idea of that "god" from Serial experiments lain and plonked it in GC (protocol 7 anyone?)

what's with le hate de Ayase anyway!?

It makes a lot more sense if you explain it like that. Thanks :)
And. Although, it was never explained, but it is somewhat heavily implied that he is using his void to control it. Plus, it glows purple as well. And he mentions voids quite a few times. We can't be sure, but it's very likely. What really bothers me is the fact that it seems like he's LEGITLY connected to the machine. It looks like there's a hole in his chest. Or it could just be the fact that it's dark for whatever reason in that thing.

For the 256 Leukocytes bluff, the man even says "they still have one that we didn't destroy", meaning that the attacks that were sent by the UN were destroyed by the one Leukocyte.

For the big ass ball from Shu, it's the Daath dude (Yuu)'s void, he used Argo's void to temporarily disable Yuu and then got close enough to draw out his void with his left hand, they even have a full few seconds showing his left hand glowing and going into his chest.

For Gai's revivial, Yuu said that he is going to be their king, and nothing can stop it. If he dies, he'll be revived. He says "I'm not allowed to end" as in I can't die then. Since Gai knew this, he knew that there was no point in trying to die again since he would just revive and left everything up to Shu.

Daath is an organization that looks over the law of natural selection basically. They guide humanity to evolve and this is what is about to happen. Mana and Gai are trying to kill of humanity and recreate it by themselves; therefore having a superior race of humanity. Daath is just there to guide it; Yuu had no power over whether or not Mana and Gai were chosen; he even says that LOL

And I recall saying that combining voids gets you a new void. Like combining Yahiro's and Souta's wont give you scissors shit that can open doors as well, it will give you a different void which is what Gai has been doing.

Shuu did not take out Yuu's void, he used the void circle boost thing (as seen in episode one where he uses it to block the missles and to get high in the air) to push Yuu away.

Well this can either end in two ways, as you may have realise, the opening for GC give a lot away about the story. I noticed this from the first opening too that a lot of the story is given away, even to the last detail. Well they may be misleading us - or in this case me.

Any who, I really don't want to talk about the ending at this moment. What comes will come, but darn right it better be a good cliche ending lol

This was by far one of the best episodes of the series. The whole series has been awesome and is one of my favourite anime.

Haha Shu's 'spirit bomb' was pretty dam awesome as well.

And by the way, this talk about a second season, was the second season after the little break they had or is there another one to come, because I dont believe Yuu died and if there is a seconf series I think Daath will play a bigger part. Anyway if you could let me know that would be awesome.

I don't think Yuu died.
He just kind of... left.
By second season, I think people meant 2 cours instead.
A second season would kind of be nice though... I would hate for a rushed ending, but if they can pull off a decent ending in one episode, wrapping everything up with an ultimately satisfying conclusion, go for it. Surprise us.

I was thinking the same thing but there's been a lot of talk about interviews with the producers and they've said another season will be made, but I have not yet found this so I'll keep looking and if I find anything I will post the url on here.

Really? If you do happen to come across an interview of sorts, please post it here. I know about a spin-off, side story novel of sorts, but I haven't heard of any news of a second season.

Uhm ... well that was ... INTERESTING ... only one more episode to go, yay! ;D
Gai's attack was pretty awesome. I must have missed something because what's the thing in Daryl's chest?! O_O
The talk with Inori loving Shu made me -_-" Then at the end with Shu doing the same ... ugh wtf IS this crap?!
The battle with the eyebrows guy really was lacking IMO. I don't see how he could have lost with all those powers he had, and WTF was that red attack at the end that Shu used? Seriously, just powers magically powering up right? Super lame ... although the animation was quite cool I suppose?
Yay Mana's back! :D She's SO much better than Inori in EVERY way, seriously ...
ALSO WTF WHY MUST INORI KEEP SINGING. SERIOUSLY. HOW THE HECK DOES SHU HEAR HER?! NO SENSE AT ALL PEOPLE -_-"

i can imagine them making a second season, they have a lot to go on like daath and maybe inori's past which wasn't properly revealed, also guilty crown is pretty damn popular and its merchandise is selling in high quantities especially the music, if they do however make a second season i would want it to be just as good or better than the second half of the first season (episode 12-22)

Well not much to say that hasn't already be told so am just gonna give a trivial information.
Mana means "mother" in Greek so i guess he name wasn't a coincidence since she supposed to be the mother of a new humanity or something like that.

At the very begining of the episode, Daath is tellng Gai that the Apocalypse is coming and he, Gai, can't stop it, Daath can't Stop it (Not that Daath, both the individual and the Group have any desire to stop it.) and not even Mana can stop it. Add to this how Inori was going on about how Human, How heartbreakingly Human, Shu is. It feels like that we're being set up for the Revelation that Shu isn't human and he has the power to start the Apocalypse, Or the power to Stop it.

Don't worry, it will be. One way or another.
