Idolm@ster being outsold by Ro-Kyu-Bu will not last and No. 6 hang it only temporary, remember what was stated earlier, just go to a site like Andriasang for game sales for the rest of where the BD sales went. Note Vol 2 is out 11/23. Dog Days and Denpa Onna both BDs I currently import as well as Idolm@ster (vol 1 I got as a boxset though) top the list. Glad for Ro-Kyu-Bu as well. Ro-Kyu-Bu outselling Usagi lol We know who the better lolis are now according to the otaku. |

At what point in the week are game sales usually announced? I assume we should have Imas2 sales soon. Also, I thought I heard that we don't get LE/RE breakdowns for games, which means we have absolutely no way of telling how many people bought the standalone Imas2 and how many bought the SE with the BD. At least we won't have that problem for the G4U volumes, since the BD comes with every one of those. Note Vol 2 is out 11/23. It's worth noting that the standalone BD for Vol. 2 isn't exactly tearing up the charts. It's on track to sell no more than Vol. 1 standalone did, possibly even less, even though there isn't the PS3 game bundle SE to cut very very deeply into standalone disc sales. So, I'm not entirely convinced the Imas anime is quite the powerhouse everyone is assuming it to be. (Imas itself is, and the anime is driving a lot of game and CD sales which is what matters of Bamco and friends, so I'm not saying it's not lucrative as hell.) Sure, I know there are the G4U bundles having a similar effect to the game bundle with Vol. 1, but either they're taking a much bigger chunk of the Vol. 2+ sales than I would ever have guessed, or Idolmaster really just isn't more than, say, a 10k anime on its own merits. If Idolmaster were to be a 20k seller, that'd essentially mean the G4U bundles are eating 75% of the standalone disc sales... seems high to me, but I may be underestimating the allure of videogame gravure photoshoots somewhat. I get the appeal, but wouldn't have thought it'd totally dominate purchases that much... Ro-Kyu-Bu outselling Usagi lol We know who the better lolis are now according to the otaku. Hey now... Usagi Drop is amazing, and I'd totally rank Rin the cutest character of the summer season, with only maybe Iori or Yayoicchi challenging. And Daikichi is easily the best summer male, though I'm pretty partial to Natsume's Takashi. Hell probably best male of the year next to Okarin. Anyway I don't think it's shocking that RKB would outsell Usagi. I hoped for slightly better sales for Usagi but I'm really just happy it didn't do a dismal ~1k like Hourou... Knew it wouldn't be an AnoHana of course, even though I personally think it's just as good in many ways, better in some. Hm, out of this week's list I'm buying Natsume, AnoHana, Dog Days, Idolmaster (as game bundle), Denpa Onna, Usagi, and Steins. Plus Nichijou which will only rank BDs. Too many imports... Around late Wednesday, early Thursday for game sales. The G4U bundle is pretty much eating into the Vol 2 sales. They may not be counted as game sales, i could be wrong about it and they are counted as game sales (What would be the point of that though?). G4U is fun and you get trophies for each girl you shoot, I had mine delivered yesterday. Usagi may be amazing but you have to admit there's more advertising and such for Ro-Kyu-Bu , Dengeki G's even has exclusives which you can get a Daki of one of the characters if you bought some of the Festival Vols. |

I get the appeal, but wouldn't have thought it'd totally dominate purchases that much... Vol. 2 of the G4U bundle is in the top 25 in video games on Amazon Japan, and that should guarantee it about 30-40k sales. Video games are much higher sellers in general... 30-40k might sound like a lot for an anime BD but its not really that much for a video game, so thats why you can still sell that much with making Top 25. Its barely any more expensive than the standalone BD (like 2k yen more), and nearly everyone who is into Idolmaster will own the PS3 to begin with, since its an anime aimed at hardcore gamers. Theres really little reason to not get the G4U version if you're an Idolmaster fan. It should outsell Persona 4 when it comes to video game adaptions if you count the total sales, at least.. Idolmaster has a much bigger fanbase. Also, about the vol. 1 sales for the Idolmaster 2 game... I think it would be fair to count at least 1/3 of the total sales as legit Idolmaster 2 sales. The regular and limited edition were constantly about the same ranking in the video game charts on Amazon. I'd expect that the regular edition sold a bit more once you got out of preorders, but 1/3rd being limited edition sounds about accurate to me. |

I'm glad to see Natsume Yuujinchou sell pretty well again... Usagi Drop should've been higher than some Summer 2011 shows, though... How good are Nurarihyon no Mago's sales? Is there any chance for more of it to be animated? As for the songs, Beelzebub's OP theme probably deserves such sales, it is pretty good... Persona 4's Album CD? That sounds good...:P |

Selling 5 times the lifetime sales of the 360 version in just one week? Fanbase isn't that big. Even the original only sold 100k lifetime. Xbox only has like a million total owners compared to like 20 million PS3 owners, so it didn't seem weird to me. Idolmaster was always one of of the "Killer Apps" for the 360 in Japan, so I thought a lot of Japanese with PS3 have been wanting to get it forever, so they went out and bought it in droves after the anime. Doesn't seem the case this time, though. |

Idolmaster was always one of of the "Killer Apps" for the 360 in Japan, so I thought a lot of Japanese with PS3 have been wanting to get it forever, so they went out and bought it in droves after the anime. Well, I'm thinking that it is indeed a killer app (albeit on its own more niche level)... one that already drove a lot of the hardcore Imas fans to buy a 360 when they otherwise might not have. I guess I just wouldn't be too surprised if the 100k that bought the original represents a pretty large percentage of the Idolmaster fanbase already. Hardcore fanbase, I mean...the ones who would buy the game and anime and stuff, as opposed to just think the characters are cute and like them in fanart (e.g. exactly how I'd have described myself before the anime) or maybe bought a few doujins, but never owned or planned to buy the games. I don't know too much about game sales (compared to how closely I follow anime sales) but how much can we expect this to add, lifetime? The 360 version went from about 34k 1st week to 49k total. I was wondering if the PS3 version could hit the original game's 100k (all versions). It might. It'd be a comparable percentage increase from week 1 to what the 360 version did (basically add an extra 50-55% of initial sales after week 1). Video games typically aren't as first week oriented as anime is, but I think Idolmaster may have same trends as anime... The preorders for it on Amazon Japan made it look like it would sell about 150k, since video game estimates always consider many more normal sales than preorders, while anime is the opposite. Idolmaster 2 ended up mainly selling preorders it seems, which is closer to how anime operates. I think it won't go up much from here. Maybe 70k, 75k max. |
