Ready for the next big anime con? Pinching pennies to get that one rare artbook or plushie? Maybe you've got a great new cosplay in the works? Come and lets us know what you have planned out!

I've never been to AWA or any anime convention at all. I just, never have the time nor the money to burn. Although I do have a decent amount of anime stuff in my room.

Always wanted to go as Char's Zaku II S for fun. Remember reading a copy of Anime Invasion[now Insider] and seeing one of the editors playing ping-pong against a Zaku II costume and always wanted one but in Char's colours.

You should definitely make it to an AWA if you get the chance, even if you don't have money to spend. The dealer's room is awesome, but other things like screenings, artist booths, and cosplayers make it a lot of fun even if you're not there to shop. My first year I spent like $50. Last year (07), I spent over $600. (x_X)

As for cosplay, I've never cosplayed before. At least, not intentionally. I wore my NISMO (Nissan Motorsports Int.) polo shirt and forgot to shave, so everyone thought I was cosplaying Iketani from Initial D. (~_~)

Your Zaku II idea could be fun but I bet that would be hellacious to piece together. If you decide to do it, let us know.

Ha ha oh WOW that's a lot of money to spend but I see how you could do it. I'd be buying so much stuff my bank account would implode on it's self. I have made plans in the past but my jobs have been 'either you work this day or you're fired' which didn't leave me much choice at the time. I'm gonna try to make it this year though...

I bought the live action Initial D movie but the bad music kept me from sitting through the first fifteen minutes of it. I'm gonna try it again someday.

After seeing someone do a Big O and God Gundam I kinda want to do it even more-so now. Man it's gonna kill my bank account balance if I do. -_-

I have been to AWA once, and have always wanted to go again. But like Kisuke said, having the money and or time to go has become a problem. However 08 might be different considering SPSU is not to far away and my budget looks good so far.

AWA has some rare finds, like the pistol from the BLAME! manga and when you pulled the trigger and a line of LEDs light up down the inside of the gun. and gunblade fans will never leave the dealer room. the midnight rave parties (awa 10 rave was hosted by anime sushi) and you better get in line for the costume contest an hour before it starts, lol. you also get to watch BRAND FREAKIN SPANKING NEW anime movies years before they come stateside (e.g. we watched Hero with jet li when it was had just been released in theatres) i fervently support anyones decision to go no matter if you have money to burn or not. if you broke then the experience alone is well worth it, and your broke butt better have some money the next year, lol.

Yeah i agree that as long as you have the money to get in you should go, regardless if you can buy stuff or not. That was my situation i was in the first time i went. It is a great a fun thing to do.

Also there is Momocon. Which last time i knew, i didn't go this year, is held at/near Georgia Tech. Plus it is free to get in. Here is a link to the web site:

No joke. At AWA 2007 I picked up a First Edition copy of Die Sterne (Evangelion Artbook) for pennies on the dollar. I about wet myself by held back and continued my pleasurable shopping experience. (^_^)d

I intended to go to AWA as an urbanized version of Fate/Stay Night's Caster, but in the end, I didn't have enough time to really create the outfit that I wanted. But I fully intend on going this year as..........something.

Momo-Con is a small, free convention that they have at Georgia tech every year. It's gets a quite a few people there. I not sure if next year is still gonna be there or be free because of the amount of people that were this year.

I went the second day with four of my friends, all cosplaying of course. The second day was really fun but I heard from my friends who went both days that the first day was 100 times better. It was still insanely fun. After we hit the dealer's rooms we just sort of walked around singing Never Gonna Give You Up, we made some new friends and all in all a quite enjoyable experience. We're all now eagerly awaiting AWA.

I'd imagine most everyone has already seen this but here's a link to the site where you can look up the prices for attending.

http://www.awa-con.com/index.php?page=membership

If for some reason you can't/don't want to visit the link I'll break it down for you. From now until May 1st you can get your 3-day, single-person ticket for $30. From May 3rd - September 1st it'll cost you $35. On the days of the event it'll cost you $45.

If everyone wants to meet each other at the event we'll see who all is going and figure out where to meet up, etc. We have plenty of time though.

Since the last post I've attended Anime Weekend Atlanta for three years (although one of those years was mostly dedicated to working as part of the staff) and I've attended MomoCon for the past two years. Unfortunately it looks like I'll most likely miss MomoCon this year, but I may attend Seishun Con or AWA. I really want to check out JapanFest this year though, which is usually on the same days as AWA, so we'll see how that goes.

I'll be attending AWA from today until Sunday evening, but won't be cosplaying this year either (maybe next year at one of the local cons I'll try it for the first time). If anyone else is going I hope you have a great, safe, and healthy time.
