So I tried to reread the manhwa for this part to see if there's any difference.
So I guess they'll cover the whole Jeju island arc for 3-4 episodes. Fair enough. |

Although the narrative is extensive, it contains numerous superfluous scenes in the anime. If these scenes had been omitted, the conclusion of this arc could have been achieved in two episodes. |

Hmmm, we expect insane fight from SJW with Goto Ryuji..honestly A1 did poor on this sparring scene. We didn’t get the trembling reaction by Gyoto Ryuji after the fight between him and SJW ended. That should be the best part of the sparring where he felt overwhelmed with SJW power. Kinda disappointed with this ep and yeah, so many important scenes got cut. But, the only nice way to end this ep is by giving us sneak peek of Beru’s power. |

Ya this one is very very crucial and I felt very disappointed when this scene got left out. Idk why. The fight is also not that great but at least, give us Goto’s reaction after the match. This ep is kinda disappointing |

Epic, felt like the beggining of hell in the world of the protagonist. And I love the idea, just like hunter x hunter with the chimera arc. |

Fucking THANK YOU. I was so angry at the bitch at the end prolonging the healing of the guy who got wounded. For once, karma striked fair and fast! And yes, this anime is now a total ripoff of Hunter X Hunter and I'M LOVING IT, lol. As for the S-rank hunters, the kinda appear rather weak now that they're on the island, outside of that fire attack that makes you wonder why they couldn't eradicate them before. Can't wait for Jinwoo's epic appearance when he switches with one of the soldiers he planted in the S-ranks' shadows. |

- This episode covers chapters 92 to 96.
- As usual, they cut most of the hunters' inner monologue on the spar to shorten the duration.
- They don't show us Goto draining in cold sweat after he fought Jinwoo. Either they removed it altogether or they saved it for a future episode. Maybe when Goto fights the OP giant ant?
- They show us how the internet criticizes Jinwoo for not joining the raid.
- They kinda censored the severed head with SFX text.
So I guess they'll cover the whole Jeju island arc for 3-4 episodes. Fair enough.
@DJKuroinu Fuck you for spoiling stuff. This forum is for anime-only watchers. Keep it to yourself. I didn't want to know who Goto is gonna fight. |

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |

as someone who has read the Manhwa, I find it a little rushed. Do other manhwa readers think the same and also anime only watchers? I don't think rushing some bits in order to fit the story in the episode count is bad, it's just my observation. |

The cliffhanger was even worse this episode LMAO. They didnt even do the typical thing of pausing on the last frame for a bit and then the neding playing, the frames of the big boy and then instantly cut to the ending.
Can't wait for the next episodes. shit will be PEAK

@MyNameSans Honestly, a fun and unusual way to do a cliffhanger. And the scene was shocking and telling enough to not need extra dramatics before being cut off. |

That fight between Goto and Jin Woo would have been aomething to see. Crazy to thibk so many S-Rank fighters there freaked out over what could have happened had they let them continue. Jin Woo opted out of the raid because he thought they could handle it without him and he wants to spend time with his mom. It's probably a good thing he put shadow soldiers on some of those guys taking part in the raid. It was pretty clear she was going to die before being able to heal that guy but it was still epic. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this arc (season). |

The fight between Koreans and the Japanese goes down, so far it's fairly equal and every now & then it will cut to characters repeating something we already know. Instead of getting an exciting choreography and a fight filled with adrenaline and excitement, we get LINEAR SEQUENCE cut to characters talking LINEAR SEQUENCE cut to characters talking LINEAR SEQUENCE cut to characters talking and then out of the blue BOOM SOMEONE WAS DEFEATED, it's sooooo lazy, like legit theres no excuse for a fight like this, between such powerful hunters, to be so tremendously shallow and BORING; and, of fuckin course, Gigachad Sigmalord arrives just in time to defend Gigastacy Sigmalord from getting her skull caved in with a kick from some Japanese dude, I literally PREDICTED this in the past episode lol but I thought that it was too shameful, so I deleted it—I guess you can never truly expect anything from this show. And of course Jin-Woo also disarms this guy in an instant despite this dudee having taken an S-class by surprise, this is so ridiculous. Sung Jin-Woo is quite possibly one of the worst and most boring protagonists I've ever seen. This dude dodges a fucking SAITAMA punch (only a scratch on his face) from Goto while hes talking, bro this is so predictable. The same lazyness is applied in this fight btw. Jin-Woo is such a fucking idiot. He's not going to Jeju Island because "her mom needs him" but, hey, the PUSH UPS WILL NOT BE DONE BY ITSELVES!! At least we drift away from Jin-Woo in screen, to somewhat of the show's detriment as the other characters are extremely one-dimensional and as bland as Jin-Woo, although not as frustrating luckily. Oh my god this is such a shameless HxH ripoff. THATS LITERALLY MERUEM AND THE QUEEN LOL. Budget Meruem liberates a fucking gnarly screech which sends a huge ray to the sky and I'm supposed to believe that no-one saw or felt such a thing. Outside of Japan and Korea, the world is surprisingly stagnant to such a growing threat, kinda ridiculous. In a better world construction, this island would get Oppenheimer'd by bombs powered by magic stones, magic stone nuclear power or something like that or even ambushed by an international association of S-class hunters, for SURE more than Japan and Korea, but instead magic stones are used for vain purposes or to make dumbass swords and bows. Fucking SUNG JIN-WOO was really like "yeah I'll protect my mother, I can't go to the Island" and his dumb ass is next seen at the park doing push ups. It's not like any ant will come to the city anyways, they are self-contained within the island. He left shades in the S-class shades so its obvious that they'll struggle at some point, Jin-Woo will come to save them, it will climax with Jin-Woo fighting the strongest ant or the Queen and thats how this season will end. It's not like this has any stakes, considering Gigachad Sigmalord just acquired /tp from Minecraft as a hax. Even that last death a la Muv Luv was predictable. Fuuuuuck this show seriously. I am really gaslighted, by this anime, to believe that a modern world as such didnt contribute in the creation of magic stone atomic power. I'm also surprised they didnt nuke the island to oblivion BEFORE they could fly, like these bitches would just drown lol. Jin-Woo choosing to not go to the island is a meaningless decision anyways, because he can just tp in an instant lol. 1/5 |

Jinwoo doesn't want to join the raid because, family? Ah so it's not because they want the raid to last more than a few minutes, alright. Well obviously we know that Jinwoo is going to join the fight later, (Ok just realized I kind of went on a rant, or just a aimless ramble really, with more spoilers for jeju island below, although most people should be able to guess what happens anyway. Still, shrunk the text so you'll have to go through more effort than clicking a spoiler button to read it. Not that you should or that I want you to, no one got time for that and you'll just be wasting it. But it's kind of like journaling and I don't want to just delete all my thoughts so I hope you don't mind if I leave them here. Everything below relates to the jeju island arc, and is not just based on this episode. Although I think I've given enough spoiler warning to warrant it being okay, I hope.) when Beru wipes the floor with the Japanese hunters- including Goto, who doesn't even get a fight either and is decapitated just as fast as everyone else. Any antagonist-type characters (the Japanese hunters had the objective of making sure the Korean hunters were left as dead on the island, iirc) in solo leveling are just props. Maybe it's too much to ask for character development from a story as flat as its art style. This is being compared to the Chimera Ant arc from HxH, and while characters do die in that arc, by no means are they falling like flies. Any death was significant, it held as much weight as to when that character was alive themselves. In solo leveling's case, lets present some s-rank hunters, have the ant-king kill them instantly to show his power, then have Jinwoo beat the ant-king to show HIS power. A tried-and-tested formula, but man maybe this is just me but could we have had more of the Japanese hunters survive so we can see them later in the story? "Idgaf about those characters anyway so who cares" - exactly my point, we can't get invested in any characters because they just keep dying. And even if they do end up having more than five minutes of screentime, the writing isn't even good enough to get invested in any of the them. I'm referring to our Korean S-rank hunters, who most of them survive almost anything, but man they are little more than props as well who are there to say: "oooohhhh wow Jinwoo strong!" Guess I'm saying is keep more characters alive, even if they are antagonists (because solo leveling likes to kill them all after a few minutes of screen time, making their presence carry almost no weight whatsoever), and also put more effort in the character-writing department, give them more weight. Anything beyond being props will do. Also have we progressed so far into the story already that Jinwoo is so strong that the title of S-rank hunter means almost jack sh*t now? Like yeah Beru is extremely deadly and they have to emphasize that by showing him insta-killing s-rank hunters. But could said s-rank hunters shown a bit more of their s-rank-hunter-ness and maybe defended against Beru's attack? Like get out of the fight heavily injured, but being able to survive? Ok this first group of hunters that got slaughtered is understandable, they are somewhat full of themselves and have let their guard down. The shirtless guy DOES have a gaping cut across shoulder, and the healer girl PROBABLY doesn't have the combat power to repel Beru's attack. Sure. But then everyone else proceeds to get wiped out in just as quick a fashion, again, including Goto, who was not caught by surprise, was fully powered-up, was not weakened in any way, AND is like the strongest S-rank hunter out of Japan and Korea combined. And yet, head chopped off just like that. Ok ok, we have to use power scaling to show that Beru is just really REALLY strong. Now let's get real nit-picky here. In Jinwoo vs Goto, Jinwoo was just toying with Goto, probably going nowhere near his full power. Nonetheless, Goto managed to get a small hit on Jinwoo. Jinwoo is strong, but by no means Goto is someone to be underestimated. Now Beru INSTA-kills Goto. Jinwoo clearly could've killed Goto, but I just feel that Jinwoo's not quite at the level of an insta-kill on someone like Goto JUST yet. But then Jinwoo proceeds to beat Beru, and he wasn't sweating THAT much iirc, so he won with relative ease. BOY they totally nerfed Beru for his fight with Jinwoo. Sure Jinwoo could beat Beru, but making it a long and hard and taxing fight on Jinwoo where he's barely making it out of the fight alive, like his fight with Igris. Idk man I know that all of solo leveling is to make jinwoo look overpowered, but I wish the power-leveling system just was built on a bit more of a solid ground. Right now nothing really holds any weight to it. It's all fluff. Comparing this to the chimera ant arc again, I felt more aura from Mereum just standing there, without any flashy aura effects or anything, than any character in solo leveling. While on that topic, while characters in HxH can look goofy as in other anime, it's fine because that fit IS their character. Meanwhile in solo leveling, when the hunters change into their fighting gear, it looks like they are going to a costume party. Well, maybe just the korean hunters. The Japanese hunters do have those cool cloaked uniforms, although that does take away from their individuality. Have gone on a pointless ramble long enough, but basically I just want better character writing and power scaling man. Because those will make Jinwoo actually feel more powerful than he already does. Right now it's like a edgy pre-teen's kid attempt at writing to make something seem cool. Anyway the pacing is brisk, but ig that's a good thing so we can get to the main meat of Jeju Island and wrap up the arc as the season ends. Was worried that the season would end on some sort of cliffhanger right in the middle of the arc, but it looks like everyone who said they had everything planned out was right, and that we're to look forward to epic highs and a satisfying conclusion for this season with the arc being completed and NOT leaving us in the middle of the fight, cough cough dandadan cough cough |

IhnalakoKaina said: Farabeuf said: It’s seldom I write this but the anime adaptation might be even better than the manwha. It fleshes things out and gives just a tiny bit more characterization ... So this is the story "fleshed out"? I'm sorry but what is this about the manga being... ah, forget it. It's like trying to put your hand into what you think is a small, still puddle of water and it's actually a piece of very shiny plastic. It reminds me of a time when someone called csm something like "a mature story for intellectual young adults". I chuckled. This time not even. I thought it could not get much worse, but now that even the "let's brutally murder a somewhat agreeable, apparently faultless side character in a way that makes no sense and for no other purpose than to be gory and edgy, even though it's evident that jinwoo will win regardless and no main or main related characters will die" box has been filled, there's not many left. I'd argue that random gore in an action show is always a great kick, especially when we weren't forced to sympathize with a character before they were mutilated. It's a random girl that no one cares about. Creates tension and shock, without emotionally manipulating the viewer. I would think it was forced if she got a sad ass backstory about a sick mom and then they did her in. That'd just be pathetic. |

"Also have we progressed so far into the story already that Jinwoo is so strong that the title of S-rank hunter means almost jack sh*t now" Thats what I mean!!!! Same thing as "uhhh that SCARY aura!!" like, it means nothing now, holy shit thank you. That shrunked rant in the thread expresses some of the disdain I have for Solo Leveling, it is the APEX of anti-art in anime, so derivative, stupid and completely anticlimactic, Solo Leveling just fails in EVERYTHING, even in combats and "muh aura and hype." It's just cringe garble in every way of the word, Jin-Woo looks like a hentai protagonist and I'm gaslighted by Solo Levelers to believe that this dude has "aura" or whatever bullshit. The HxH rip off is insane. |

@BetaMaleUltra Oh my god thank you. I'm surprised this shameful work is allowed to exist and to be applauded so much, even if its quite literally the modern Sword Art Online.

RipoffKorean Meruem is here beheading a girl while Sung Jin Woo is staying with his family and totally not because the author is trying to give other S-rankers a bit more spotlight and prolong the arc ;) |

Hi, I'm no one. I even just said how it can't possibly create tension. It's true that if she had a whole episode backstory like overlord's tomb raiders it would have been pathetic, still never able to be something like goblin slayer episode 1 because that one, as awful as it was, kinda made sense. Instead, this one is cheap and unnecessary. But I guess that's kinda on brand for this series. Wouldn't have hated it this much if at least they had seen it coming and died fighting or something, not being absolutely unprofessional and unreasonably letting their guard down like that, but again, that's the brand since s1 ep 1. Every episode has something that makes me think that the writer never had the "I guess people won't just buy that, should think this one through one more time" moment. Like the first draft always made the cut, as retarded as it was. Shiny plastic though. Art good, animation good, monkey brain activates, masterpiece. |

@Kai200X That's the ant you saw hatching, just naming him isn't a big spolier tbh, possible you may have seen much more spoilery things but yeah I'd probably lay off / restrict the internet re Solo Levelling until you've finished watching the Jeju arc. |
