I look at the votes and get that i am in the minority who didn't like it. I hoped for a good season with slow pace, instead we get what hardly can be called a story and few visuals that supposed to be a fight. I am very dissapointed, i hoped for a good visials of fights. Also i would be wtf if i didnt read the story, because there are no explanations of whatsoever was going on.

Poor guy, he's still at a low level. What saved him in the fight was his team comp, unfortunately. He should go farm more XP to fix this problem.
@Mari_Marx if you haven't read the novel than you don't know his lvl. In anime it's nowhere where it shold be. When we saw 1-st part and saw MC going to hell or that job quest one can think wtf? Why? He is still a green onion, whining and scaredy kitten, while fo those who read his deciasons were clear. Those who read saw his progress and knew what was in his head and how he changed from what we saw.

@weeb_cheeks_04 No wonder people didn't get that. Because this shit is so bad. That A level hunter Kim was killed by MC and he extracted his soul and he became another Knight like Igris and MC named him Iron. It was so short, so no wonder you got confused.

Very good episode, I liked it.

Jinwoo is becoming more OP, will he ever have a real challenge?

Now, knowing that Jinwoo can "recruit" the souls of dead humans with all the skills they possess... could he kill an S-ranked one and have their soul at his service? ._.

@Ryuseishun There are limitations but in the anime everything is rushed (like 1.5x compared to the manwha) and there are many cuts. The same happened in the 1st Season. A few details would have only needed 1 extra episode at the end but I think not being Japanese-sourced means having less consideration.

@Tsuki_ They could. They rushed everything like in the 1st season. Going slower and adding a 13th episode would have made it perfect. The same is happening here, with many details being cut :/

@ejleon Is a friendly way to call someone else. Used when you are close to someone. Honorifics are widely used in Japan and they change according to how close you are to the other person starting from surname+honorific and ending by calling someone else by name (you need to be really close for that)

Yes, there are scenes where the dialogue is shortened or the explanation is not explained in depth, but I don't think focus should be put there. Not everything has to be presented through dialogue, if it has or will already been presented to you visually. A-1 Pictures focused mostly on highlights of the show which is epicness, coolness, scaleness and limitness, which this series possesses and wants to entertained viewer by it. At least that's my expression of Solo leveling.
@Tsuki_ Some missing dialogue will prevent you from empathizing with the character that now is like a robot. Many emotions have been cut. There are many missing scenes where he's still goofy or angry. After killing a person he's like "oh well". If they intend to animate the whole manwha, later on, it would be difficult to explain some stuff happening in his mind (no spoilers, don't worry.).
-
Moreover, they cut other parts that have some importance later on. In one scene in episode 1 (so, no spoiler) it's night, everyone is at a campfire while Jinwoo is "training". Next scene is day. What happened during the night? In the manhwa is shown. Many other aspects of the system and how it works are completely missing. Even after reading the manwha like 5 times, I needed to recheck these chapters because something felt weird and, if fact, important details for the story are missing.
-
Point is; The adaptation is good but rushed. It could have been at the same level of FMA, Friren and others but they kept it at a good level (like 7/8) only to not add an extra episode (or removing the opening/ending to use up to 3 extra minutes). All these possibilities have been used in other anime so it's not so strange or impossible to do. They DECIDED to do it like this. That's the shame.

The fights really are even better than before. The storyboard artist is doing a great job.

The episode was great.

Personally, I'd like more drama in the story to complement the soundtrack, since we have Sawano and XAI to express that

Has been excellent choreography in these first two episodes.

Having not read the source material I wonder about if the elf was too high level or if Jin has a limit on how many people he can bring back?

I feel like this ability to turn anyone killed into an underling of sorts is a bit too OP an ability but I see the narrative purpose of it to avoid having only one on one combats. At least that one leader of the ice elfs was clever enough. Seemed as if it was suggesting these beings in the dungeons are NPCs though with the whole glitch thing that happened.

The underage comment hits different when you know South Korea's consent age is 20 which is older than their age of majority. Weird country.

Hmm, I like the part when Jin-Woo is fighting like a total chad. The fights are definitely rlly good yeah but sometimes it can get pretty tiring like the mc slowly but surely getting overpowered or all it took to defeat his opponent who's stronger than the mc is in one episode but heh that's just my problem kind of thing.

Jin-Woo managed to tackle (only struggle quite a bit despite him saying that he and Igris are weaker than Baruka) and defeat him with a special help being "Iron" formerly Kim because he got killed and turned into a shadow soldier by our chad.

Nice to know that Jin-Woo looks like he can't use the shadow extraction skill too many times as he can only use it for 3 times/3 attempts. That'll at least won't make him too overpowered to the top.

Also, Jin-Woo finally caught the attention of another S-Rank hunter being Yoon-Ho huh besides someone who is hunting him down for what Jin-Woo did to a certain guy's older brother that is Dong-Soo.

Overall, another 8/10 episode. Been enjoying this quite better than the 1st season. I just hope not much stuff will be recycled which was the core problem of the first season.

so...if he hadn't made Iron become one of his shadow soldiers or whatever those black mists are called, he would've been able to take the elf as one of his underlings? they need to up his limit now after leveling up while trapped inside that dungeon.

cool episode... the fight scene was great, and I liked the strategy of make that jerk hunter into a dark servant (even better that they show Jinwoo reflecting over the fact that he killed another person later)...
the way they shown his tank skill to "provoke" the enemy was cool too..

also, the glitch scene that sugest more mystery... very interesting... good to know that there's more in the story than a compilation of situations to show off how cool and badass Jinwoo is, XD

Save it for the future so you can easily find the honorific you still don't know :)
@DarthDesigner Thank you for the help, and I will use it, should I ever learn Japanese like I hope to.

So if she used "Kun", does that mean she is older than Jin-Woo?

I think she was in his sisters class and she is older than him, right?
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Animation improved by a big factor here, more detailed frames, smooth transition in fighting scenes; esp. where jinwoo grabs the arrow which is just released from the bow. It is like any power-up common in shonen, but the animation and the way he uses his abilities takes it next level. definitely a entertaining watch

@ejleon In this case, it has the same value as -chan but for boy.

-Chan is rarely used for boys, they use -kun instead, with the same friendly meaning.
Close friends to be specific. After spending one week together in a "dangerous" situation, they are now closer (+ she's into him so she tries to get even closer moving from the more polite honorific to the friendlier one lol)

P.S.
Sometimes also -tan is used with the same meaning, especially for cute girls. In this season you can find it in Re:Zero used for Emilia-Tan by Subaru, the main characters of the show)

Man's really just casually attaining an army huh... "solo" leveling XD.
2 S-ranks casually blowing up a city seems a bit... irresponsible. Okay lol there wasn't actually an explosion.
I knew there was something behind all this but the monsters being forced to fight humans against their will is more than I expected honestly and the "not human" is pretty interesting as well though I figured something of the sort. The glitch causing him to reset when he was about to answer who they were was also very telling and suspicious like they are essentially being controlled by a higher power, yet because of their intelligence have enough autonomy to think and speak for themselves. Although somewhat murderous in nature, it does seem a little tragic. Also btw is it just me or does he always call himself "Sung Jin" and not "Sung Jinwoo"
Nah I like the elf king way too much he even egged them on and told them to 3 v 1 him. He's way too much of a likeable badass asshole XD. Like NGL there's no way that Jin isn't the "bad guy" in this fight. Destroying the loveable cool asshole with cheap tricks and overpowering him with numbers despite him being the stronger fighter. "solo" my ass lol.
This is like the opposite of the "Shonen/Goku - way" he kinda fighting like a b1tch fr.
Wait... I was about to say "he's not gonna ARISE/WAKEYWAKEY that guy?" Like he's not even gonna try even just his army would be useful but no he is, he just waited for it I guess. Still kind of crazy he killed that guy just to add him to his army as an enraged numbskull but hey I mean... he was out for blood so fair enough.
The moment with the S-rank was cool but I kind of wanted it to go further though obviously they won't make them fight here yet especially since they are kind of on the same side but still.
Yeah I expected it to fail, just was surprised it seemed he wasn't even gonna try at first, that's sad though he's such a cool character/guy that'd piss me off too honestly as there's no way to try again later.

Also the Abridged series is gonna have a field day with this they really have to stop making every single female character fall for him lol, what do they think this is an isekai?! Even though this is not his sister, your sisters friend crushing on you would equally be awkward for sure. Meanwhile mr. shiny armor out here with the "maidenless" expression. Nah my man really thought they had sex and jin just said "yeah so what she is a minor" the abridged REALLY is gonna have a field day with this. Though btw if she's underage that means his sister is as well which is kind of a big age gap. Age of consent in korea is 16... even if we assume it's 18 in this universe's version of Korea though that means she not older than 17 which is a 7~8 year age gap between him and his sister. That's quite a lot.

rant:
Like I have siblings but unless you have like 10 kids or something there generally isn't that big of an age gap. There's some exceptions but those are rare. I think I only ever met one kid who was an uncle at the age of like 12 because he had a sister in her twenties who was I think also his only other sibling. Though because of that he also had relatively old parent's like they were like late 50's or early 60's which at the time to me was more the age of grandparents.
And I guess I have one "aunt/niece" who is the daughter of my grandmother's sister... who is about the same age as me and my older sister (we are 2 of the 3 oldest nieces/nephews born on that side of the family which is large btw as my grandmother and father did in fact have 10 children)
But that's the 2 wildest examples I can think of. But one of them is just like "a late bloomer" and the other is more "a late comer." Whereas, I dunno they kind of made this seem like a somewhat normal family at first. But I dunno your only 2 children being 8 years apart is pretty uncommon over here. Which makes sense cuz like if you're 8 you aren't gonna play with a baby, and by the time the baby is like 4~5 which is an age you'd normally be able to play with siblings a lot more, Jin would be 12~13 and that's the age when you enter puberty at which you're pretty much "too cool" to play with younger kids and siblings certainly not 5 year olds. Then when another 6~8 years pass the youngest is just entering puberty 10~12 as the oldest would be 18~20 and basically be a proper adult/young adult and possibly move out. You essentially grow up completely separately. And in big families 5 kids or more that makes sense, they kind of just rotate out and the youngest and the oldest barely know each other at all. And the only one that knows everyone pretty well is the middle child. Now in my case it's not biological but foster care but still the oldest is 23 (left the house like 5 years ago) and the youngest is 15, though since it's foster care only arrived when they were like 8. Though that essentially means they only even lived in the same house for 2 years and barely know each other. Especially the youngest as your memory is kind of still developing as a kid.
I think they portray that dynamic fairly well though as they don't seem to know each other that well.

The animation was insane as always.

Wait, so those monsters can talk after all? But only Jinwoo can understand them. I wonder why the heck they attack humans. Could be the same reason humans invade their worlds and attack them. Resources. But there's probably some sort of higher power that's controlling this and see it as some sort of twisted game.

So, that idiot got killed by Jinwoo. That was cold. But he kinda deserved it. He'll be more useful as Jinwoo's pet.

"Han is underage." I doubt Jinwoo would even care if he actually was into her lol. But damn, that girl changed way too much after that encounter...
@0451 Apparently the System keeps harassing them inside their heads to KILL KILL KILL KILL

When in proximity to humans. Seems Players are exempt

I think the Gates are wormholes and the System abuses multiple worlds in the Universe (invaders/defenders)

ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!!

That weak A rank survived and had the nerve to go at the surviving team all because he was too weak to lead. It was your idea to split in the face place!
I started rolling when Jinwoo threw him across the snow.

I didn’t expect the all of the elves to show this soon…and with their boss. They’re something serious. Their boss confirmed that Jinwoo isn’t a normal human, but he still has the heart of one for not giving up the team. He ain’t one to back down either because he carries a whole military within himself.

That fight between the boss and Jinwoo was epic. The animation, the graphics, the music. PEAK. And for Jinwoo to kill the A rank then use him as a soldier was PRICELESS! He fought better as a dead man than a living one!

Now there’s Jinwoo (the King), the Knight, the Angry tank (castle), the mages (bishops), and the soldiers (pawns). He’s started to have an entire chess board as his military.

The President of the guild knows something’s up with Jinwoo, but you can’t be mad at him because everyone would’ve been dead otherwise. This won’t fare well moving forward though.

The comedy at the end was a nice change in tone. After all, she’s underage LOL!

The miscommunication scene was funny, also nice to see some limitations, like with the necromancer skill not always working, dependent on the power level of the subject it's cast upon, a lesser show/story would of just let him collect everything he beats.

It was nice to watch the entire fight inside Red Gate again. Jin Woo is disappointed he couldn’t get Baruko’s shadow. Kim Chul’s shadow Iron is dumb.

Song Yi changed the way she addressed Jin Woo, from Oniisan to Jin Woo-kun.

Yoo Jin Ho picked them up the next day. He misunderstood them for some romantic relationship. I doubt that on her part but not him.
