I would have a more "mixed feeling" than "not recommended" and that would be only because of that crybaby who ruins the show. Didn't watch this third season because of him but thought I'd give my thoughts on the matter, review wise. There are trolls who write whatever jibberish they can think of a series and then there are genuine who don't care much of some plot or other stuff so my advice is, don't care what others think.

If you enjoy the series, you enjoy it. That's basically it!

I didn’t see any isekai in this season. In my point of view the season was missing the extreme situations where MC sees his friends die. Sure, it was character development, but still - it made it a bit boring

Mushoku Tensei is definitely the real king of Isekai, and overall this season was kind of weak so far. So I can see how it hasn't been everyone's cup of tea.

Even if someone is not a fan for whatever reason, taking a popular, well written and well animated show like this and contriving a load of negativity and denying all the obvious qualities seems like an attempt to look cool or superior by expressing an unpopular opinion. In the eyes of the majority they just look like dicks. But of course they want to stir controversy and generate responses from whoever they can, so it’s a win/win for them. Best thing is to completely ignore these trolls. They don’t express any objectivity, it’s just an attack on everyone who enjoys the show they are targeting. Don’t engage.

I don't read MAL reviews but mix feelings is probably more suitable for this season. Some pretty weak episodes and the decision to air the next few episodes in February is also not very good for people who were watching it weekly.

Just write a recommend review and the more of them might outweighs the not recommend. I'm sure you don't recommend things people like and recommend. I like re;zero a lot but there's people who like completely different genres. Maybe they find it too violent, don't like the stories or characters. Maybe they're mad their two favourite characters aren't together. Who knows their reason, other than maybe what they wrote down on why they don't recommend.

The dialogue is horrific and so is the directing. I feel as if somehow they went with the first written draft for the script despite having three years to make it. They cut away to different POVs at the most bizarre times just killing the pace. But the biggest offender is the laborious dialogue, I feel insulted after the masterclass we got in Season 1, and then the very strong dialogue in Season 2. The "From Zero" speech was 20 damn minutes long and every single line in both content and delivery was far superior to any single line said this season so far, I just don't understand how someone who did that has failed so poorly under much less pressure. How many damn "Heh I don't have time for this" lines do we need to hear from Corneas until he does anything? There is an absurd quantity of just pointless and droll lines that makes me pine for the tightly edited and well paced narratives of Season 1 and 2. Hell, Corneas is nowhere near as he scary as he was when we first met him in the movie.

TL;DR Horrible dialogue and poor directing. Hard to be hyped when 90% of an episode is yap. Subaru's broadcast was good, but I'd expect that given this is more to do with Kobayashi Yuusuke's talent, and directly lifting from the LN.

P.S. "he's supposed to be nonchalant", or "the archbishops all talk a lot" is the INTENTION. It is not executed well enough to justify that in S3. Betelgues talked a lot. He had phenomenal presence. And being nonchalant is not an excuse for writing the same line eight times in a row.

P.P.S. I also want to add that in this arc they had a similar issue to Gojo during Shibuya Incident with Reinhardt. However, their solution was laughably terrible and completely unbelievable. If Reinhardt's father really is so dangerous that he cannot use his speed to free felt, there's absolutely no way some bugs and a wriggling hostage would create any believably safe opening. And that's not even counting how ridiculously contrived that entire situation was anyway.

That doesn't mean the show is not good, some of them hating it because it's the trend, some of them are just their opinion. Don't let other's opinion makes you trigger, every anime have haters. I personally think this season is cooking, the best ep so far for me is ep 2.

Why re:zero fandom has this much fanatic weirdos? Every fandom has few of 'em but no fandom has THIS MUCH AMOUNT. Seriously, I never seen this much freaky fans together for any franchise. Not even in crazy popular ones. I'm genuiely curious why, there HAS to be a reason for it. (I'm not saying every fan is like this but there's a significant amount of them, that's for sure.)

probably just because re:zero is literally the most review bombed anime of 2024 when there are series that were more popular and were worse overall, the amount of hate isn't normal

This is really quite ridiculous if you think about it. 53st highest rated anime of all time (at the moment) with an average rating of 8.73 has more negative reviews than positive ones, lol. Of course, the main reason, is that most normal people don't rate an anime before it fully aired, but those who didn't like it and dropped it are more likely to do this. You shouldn't call people with a different taste than yours "brainless", though, that's just poor taste.

Another point - currently the rating system works in a quite stupid way, where people who don't like a review rate it as "confusing" or "funny" as sarcasm, because of course it would be so-so bad if we just had a reaction that's a more direct representative that you think that a review is trash. And as the number of ratings determines a review's position, leaving controversial shitty reviews is rewarded by the site.

Anime fans aren't a monolith.

Just because it personally resonated with YOU does not mean it does for everyone else

There's a variety of reasons why someone might not like s3. Maybe the ensemble cast resulting in the pacing/your focus being spread too thinly. Maybe some people only like seeing flashy fights. Maybe some people just can't stand certain characters. Maybe they don't like the tweaks to the character design

There's a myriad of reasons on why someone would like or dislike a show. Thoughtlessly insulting the people who don't view your favorite show in a good light, would probably just prove their points.

P.s. It doesn't matter if you think something is the king of a certain setting (I'd be hardpressed to call isekai something more than a sub-genre). Some people's inherent disdain of the very concept of isekai would naturally mean it'd rate lower on their list

I love Re:Zero so much lmao, but it's so fucking funny that everyone's getting mad over negative opinions. They're just opinions. They're not going to change the state of the anime. This prolly the reason why I stay away from the anime community. I happen to come here just to update my list till I stumbled upon this xD
