| Fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX were left disappointed by Konami in 2024, as this year marked the anime's 20th anniversary yet there was no new update for GX in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links despite multiple important characters not being in the game. As of December 2024, there hasn't been a single GX update in Duel Links since the release of James "Jim" Cook during the summer of 2022. On December 21 2024 (JST), the official Twitter account for the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime confirmed that GX is getting the remaster treatment to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The remaster is simply titled Yu-Gi-Oh! | @GrimAtrament Considering that GX is coming back, they could very likely bring back the first generation as well. It'll be the OG's 30th anniversary in 2028, and DM's in 2030. One can always hope. Additionally, 2028 also marks the 20th anniversary for 5D's. Could also return. |
