New case! This one involves a professor and students at an university. Some of those students seems like they have curious minds in their field.

There's still case analyzing and the usual gimmicks added to the case. Amamiya's skills shouldn't be underestimated here, as she's been an asset to the team in these cases.

Might just be the fastest exit for a newly introduced character... ever. All offscreen too. The interactions are all perfect.

This case is quite hard so I'll just make random guesses

I suspect the culprit might be the assistant professor, but there's also a rare chance that the culprit might actually be the professor who's currently in another country, remotely explode the lab by some kind of method.

The motive is unclear, but I guess it's to destroy the computer in the shield room, and whoever open the room first is just a collateral damage. I assume the culprit falsify data to get a stunning lab result to get published in prestige journals and want to destroy the evidence. He can't simply delete the data as the deleter's name will be recorded in the log as told by one of the male student.

The threatening letter is to make sure the police think that this is some kind of revenge to the specific person but in fact the victim is just a collateral damage from the explosion.

Like Ron said, the motive isn’t clear yet and I feel like we may not have had enough provided to figure it out ourselves yet.

He reacted once Isshiki mentioned that those two researches were using the lab frequently together. The one accused of stalking Himeno and the one who kept getting warned by her for the cancellations. Maybe they started to see each other romantically if they were always at the lab together and some sort of grudge caused one or both of them to kill her?

I have a feeling I’m way off this time, but this might be the most interesting setup of the season so far. I don’t think we’ve had a case yet where the culprit wasn’t made obvious this season.

This has been getting kind of boring. Regardless of any major details that they're omitting, one person is for sure at the center. Whether they're a culprit or not isn't clear, but there certainly won't be anything unexpected. I haven't seen an episode I didn't already have solved before the reveal. Excluding the ridiculous shadow organization (I forgot the name) centered ones… I'm not supposed to discuss theories here. So I guess I have to leave it at that.

God, I miss the Crunchyroll comment section. The internet gets crappier every year.

Man I was so ready to call this a filler episode until the Himeno twist happened, FUCK. That actually broke my heart she was such a pure and bright girl. Loved her in the few mins we had her. I feel like all the lab students and the professor were probably in on it. They all seem kind of sus. There’s also the actual head professor who’s at that conference. He could’ve rigged the place somehow.. that England call Aoe took seemed sus as well.

S/O amamiya for the fake “phone call” so Ishiki could over the investigation and get justice for Himeno. I feel like that’s supposed to harp back to Aoe taking a “call” from England in the first half of the ep and that was probably some excuse to help rig the lab

Can’t wait to see who’s behind this and have them brought to justice. Himeno deserved better.

A bit of a shame we’re not far off from the season ending and we still haven’t gotten back to the main conflict with House of M, but I won’t turn down any case with Monki involved lol. This one seems very interesting too, I like that we don’t have a clear culprit this time, instead it’s pretty much everyone in the lab, I really wanna say it’s one of the students because each one has a reason to hate Himeno, but Professor Aoe isn’t looking so innocent either, his reaction to Himeno’s death almost felt like acting to me but maybe I’m looking into it too much, but really you can’t do that with a mystery anime lol.

Poor Himeno tho, I knew with the episode title being what it was and how sweet she was that she would probably be the one biting the dust, and look what happened lol, a real shame tho, even if those other students didn’t kill her they are definitely assholes for how they saw Himeno, but it doesn’t matter how nice you are, some people are just gonna hate you. Hopefully Toto and Ron will bring her death justice next time.

I'm kinda expecting the professor to be the culprit but who knows the others have grudges too. That professor might be using others to publish those papers and she might've caught on and was disappointed in her hero.

Besides it would align with how Chikori idolizes Toto and she made a quick bond with Himeno before she was murdered.

On top of that, I figured the MRI machine would be used in this trick somehow. Like that one time in that Detective Conan movie Scarlet Bullet where they talked about quenching.

On another note, it's kinda nice seeing Toto getting a little observant.

Obviously, it was either her fellow students. Or the Professor. I don't know why he jumped into my mind just now, but he did.

My guess is the professor is the killer, but Himeno wasn't the intended target as he wouldn't have known she would be in the lab, hence why the letter arrived after her death.

As for the motive I really have no idea, perhaps the data was the real target?

So what happened with the House of M shit? They teased it so much but we're pretty much back from the usual formula of the show and this is ending in a few episodes.

Nah idgaf if she was there fora couple of minutes Himeno’s sudden death fucking got me man my jaw dropped bc how could such a nice soul like her die man? From her bright attitude to how she and Chikori bonded made her death even more sad for me😢😢😢

I’m thinking the Professor did it idk his reasoning but I thought it was a little weird tbh at bro had that letter in his box near his desk and didn’t show Amamiya but showed it to Toto and Ron🤔🤔

I’m still sadden at Himeno’s death man I thought she was gonna be a reoccurring character like Chikori but hey let’s hope that Toto avenges her

I wonder when we’re gonna get back to the House of M stuff but I think will get that between episodes 10 and 13

For me the killer is the professor, why? He is methodical. Why did he make a mistake in matching the hours of use of the machine? Also, why does he have the letter and not show it before?

The place was toxic to begin with and I don't want to point fingers but the guys are the most suspicious since they had reserved the lab beforehand.

Hmm, yeah I really don't know who did it but I noticed that Ron seemed to have figured it out once he saw who was using the lab in the afternoon which were the girl and one of the guys so I'm thinking there was a love triangle and the girl may have wanted to get rid of her competition.

Looking for a case with the reporter Chikori sees Ron and Toto visits the university lab researching cognitive psychology where there is lots of animosity in the air. Predictably a murder takes place.
