In episode 5, it seems like Ranma's dad already know that the water there will shapeshift you, considering he (in Panda form) was fighting with Ranma (in girl form) on top of the hill (where Ranma accidentally pushed Ryoga off into the pig water). And it was shown that the Panda caught Ryoga (in pig form) at the water too. So, why did he bring the pig to the officer and let him cook the pig then?

1. They were out in the middle of nowhere, so whatever they foraged, anything that can be food.
2. At the time, they didn't know anyone else was out there that could have fallen into the springs, so they didn't expect it to be also human.

In the episode, Ranma and his dad were in the middle of a fight and didn't notice at all they were the ones to be blamed for knocking Ryoga into the spring. Let alone acknowledge Ryoga's presence.

Plus, the guide himself said it's been over 10 years since anyone visited. No one makes their way to the curse springs on purpose. So they thought it was a wild pig

Well...it's a silly scene, meant to be funny.

I guess you could hyper analyze it and suck all the comedy straight out if it, by missing that simple fact, completely, for the sake of overthinking and discussing a moment from a cartoon-remake in a very, very serious fashion

But...I wouldn't do that^^
I would try to have fun

Ranma and Genma (the panda daddy) are traveling martial artist who unfortunately don’t have money so that leads panda daddy to do a lot of stupid things that some or more have to pay for in the future because bro stay hungry.

If people like sho tucker, goku, ging, yujiro hanma, weren’t created then panda daddy would be the worst or at least top 10 worst anime dads of all time.

alot of the show would be cutout if they used critical thinking skills but that's not as funny
