they rushed a 30 chapter arc into a 4 episodes equivalent movie.
a 20 min episode is about 3 manga chapters long, that way this movie only animated like 12 out of 31 manga chapters of the dumpster battle arc. If even now u think the movie was paced right or is a gr8 sequel for haikyuu, i'll respect your opinion but the movie was nowhere near haikyuu level. only thing movie focused on was hinata & kenma's rivalry and not on Kurasuno and Nekoma rivalry. I read this arc after the movie and the movie dont do justice to this arc.
Yes animation was really gr8, but is that all it takes for you to consider this movie good. it had no heart whatsoever. there's a whole chapter discussing why kurasuno and nekoma are rivals and anime onlies who are praising the movie dont know how many beautiful moments they've missed. all the side characters get their chance to shine in the manga but not in the movie.
a 10 episode season (like season 3 ) would have done much justice to this arc rather than this cash grab of a movie.
and if they do the same thing with the final arcs and the final movie, it would be a most tragic end for such a gr8 series as haikyuu.

ur thoughts about this rushed and finely animated movie ??

This arc is my favourite in the manga cuz it focuses on the teams and their rivalry, it was really heated in the manga, and yes the anime was really good too but it was rushed. I remember reading through it and was so excited to see it animated but sadly they condensed so much.
don't get me wrong though the movie was a fun watching but it could never reach the level of hype I had while reading the manga

I agree with you, but the improved animation makes me consider this is not so bad, But I hope for the same thing as you. I need a small season with 8 to 12 episodes to cover every content in the manga with good animation.

This happens to a lot of animes, and I hate when it does, but it doesn't happen without a reason. Haikyuu's manga ended 4 years ago, and I think that's the biggest reason they rushed to end the series and made a movie instead of giving Haikyuu a proper final season. Once a manga ends, it's harder to make money off the anime unless the sales are insanely high. Promised Neverland was also a victim of this case. Its second season was rushed to the point where they basically ignored all the plotlines, which is even crazier than what happened with Haikyuu. They did it for the obvious reason, the manga ended, and without ongoing content, there’s not much incentive to continue making seasons. Demon Slayer is a different case. Even though the manga ended, it’s still insanely popular, and the sales were huge when it finished. For Haikyuu or Promised Neverland to get the same kind of respect and treatment as Demon Slayer, their manga sales would probably need to hit at least 100 million copies or have a major sponsor who's willing to throw millions into it. Haikyuu's manga has sold around 62 million copies so far, which is why this movie, and the upcoming one, will likely feel rushed. Don’t get your hopes up for the next movie unless some millionaire sponsor steps in and wants to turn it into an episodic series instead of just a movie to wrap things up.

I don’t doubt it but from an anime only perspective it was perfect. I loved the Kenma/shoyo dynamic and each character on the teams still got their moments. No doubt there’s more to the manga, but if you haven’t read it it’s a great standalone work. Not to mention the cinematography and animation were some of the best I’ve ever seen, with Kenmas POV and the long rally, everything really hit with emotional weight

As a manga reader who doomposted this, I think they executed it well. Most of Haikyuu can be repetitive as it's just volleyball so condensing it and only keeping the new refreshing relevant parts was actually a really good idea imo. Especially since media is now a lot more fast paced.

Agreed. The movie was fine for what it is—didn’t hate it or anything—but even having read the manga over three years ago I can tell there’s a lot missing.

I think their decision to end the series with two movies after Season 4 largely stems from the huge success of the first Demon Slayer film and subsequent anime films that made big bank in theaters. Even though animated Haikyu is much better structured for TV, I think those numbers were too big for greedy execs to ignore.

Makes me really worried that they’ll butcher the *spoiler warning* final arc/time-skip arc, which is one of my favorite endings of any manga/anime content, period. Even if the last movie is like 2 & 1/2 hours long, that arc will still probably get no more than 20-30 minutes.
