| Why are people so obsessed with this? At first, people were passionately asking for GL tat for Gushing over Mahou Shoujo girls, although it was obvious to everyone that it was yuri. Now people are complaining about the lack of a romance tag in a show that apparently has a gradually growing romantic attraction between the protagonists. Why argue over a formality? |

a lot of weird ass dorks to start off this thread and throughout confused about why someone would want a site that is good for finding, organizing, sorting, discovering etc new anime to have tags that properly reflect the show. The fuck do you even use this site for if you don't want it to be accurate? It's not like OP flamed out about it, they literally just asked.
Also it literally does not matter what the manga has or when it starts being romantic in the manga, that has it's own tags. Also the people claiming it's not a main theme, it's mentioned and referenced quite a damn bit and the romantic subtext tag exist for a reason as well.

@RobertBobert "it was obvious to everyone" That doesn't help in 10 years when you're looking at GL tags for GL and it's not there. The site has a 20th anniversary celebration going on right now, I assume they hope it reaches another 20 and then another 20, if someone is for whatever reason looking for top GLs from 2023 or 2024 or 2002 or whatever year in 2039 it being obvious but not tagged does literally nothing for them. Being stingy or dismissive about it is dismissing a giant reason why this site is even valuable to begin with.
This show is going to end up one of the top rated for this season, one of the most popular and a great reason for that is because of the chemistry and romantic subtext of these characters but, lets go back to my example up above, if it doesn't have the romance or romantic subtext tag then when people are looking back in 2039 to see what the best romances are of this season or most popular they are not going to get a complete picture because one of the most popular and most well done at least in terms of subtext ones will be missing because 15 years prior a bunch of people argued that it was "obvious" or pointless. It's fighting against the usefulness of the site for no reason other than to fight. This site and sites like it are made for autism and OCD not being like meh who cares if the database is complete or correct.

| @Spitonme What you describe is more than covered by the possibility of creating custom stacks. So free and wide that you can find a bunch of BL/GL stacks, half of whose titles don't even have any romance and were simply added due to shipping goggles or headcanons of their creators. The tags themselves usually give general information, especially if the show itself has never been promoted in this way and did not consider these topics to be the most important to them. |

| Because the main focus of the plot isn't a romance? It's way more action and dealing with supernatural. Btw, I see a lot of crap post up there, some people really never watched romance anime when they think that some elements of romance in story means it's a romance genre. Btw, why Code Geass isn't a romance or harem anime? Lelouch had so many romantic interactions, and so many girls were in love with him. |
