Takaaki is such a bro, a fking SSR, at least hoping he doesnt have any bad intentions.

Watching this really makes me feel nostalgic for my love for fishing I used to have.

I see this episode hit too close to home to some in this thread. I've know people who accumulated debt. 1 who unfortunately did the deed out of desperation at the end, because of debts.
If only they met someone like Takaaki in their lives, maybe things would've gone differently.
Anyways, let's not get all gloomy.
Takaaki is a perfect bro. He's dragging Sasaki out of swamp. But Takaaki alone can't fix shit. Sasaki must fix himself. Problem with gamblers (with ego = deadly combo) is they assume they'll get lucky next time, or next time, or next - but they never do and debt only increases. I've gambled myself. I know the feel. Luckily I had enough resolve not to lose too much and realized chasing after loses can lead to worst outcomes. Sasaki must do the same.

He has debt but now no one's gonna chase after him. Sasaki knows he'll die soon, so I assume he'll feel bad for Takaaki and may gamble more (with unfortunate results) trying to repay him before he dies (I still doubt this anime will end with MC's death)

Wonder if this'll go a different direction though...

The social life of college for Tsunehiro is too boring to the point where he starts foraging and investing in the forex market, and that's where his world slowly crashes down after realizing the disease within him. But a fishing competition for a million yen for catching a houndshark, it's fierce...and Hiro wants in too for the money.

The upset of a fish reeling in for Hiro has both Takaaki and Hana profusely in concentration, even the loansharks that hound Hiro for his ever-growing debt that run as far as they can through the night. In the end, it's Takaaki who manages to catch up to Hiro after a long run and give him a piece of his mind, plus givng him safety and comfort through lending his home for stay with a lifetime replayment.

At least for the time being, Hiro has a home to return to, even if it's not his.

Long story short Hiro only has himself to blame for all his misery. Takaki's been a great bro and guy in general and looks like he went through similar stuff in life and wants to help someone else going through similar problems. Hana's only ever interested in fish.

We didn't get to see the ray!

Why hasn't he told his parents he stopped going to school? Or about having 2 years to live?

Takaaki is such a real dude. I love him. I think he's trying to help Sasaki because either he was in the same situation (suicide) or had someone really close to him (brother or friend?) who killed themselves. Poor guy

I agree that everyone needs to empathize with Sasaki. He did fuck himself over, but give the man a break. Anyone in his position would react the same way tbh he did get diagnosed with some illness and only has 2 years to live, he has persistent loan sharks after him, he lost his home, the guilt from having your parents pay for school, not having a job, being in crippling debt at only 20 years old? That shit is scary

Tbh, I think this anime is a little too real for some of you.

Dude. I hate characters who literally run away from their problems and also annoy others.
I understand that he is desperate but I dislike him acting that way.
It's not the first time I dislike a main character for the attitude. He's lucky that others care.
