Given the amount of new anime exclusive content that we are getting do you believe that yhwach will surpass aizen as the best villain in bleach and the big 3?

Yhwach, Kaguya and Imu are the "big bosses" of the big 3, but i think Madara, Aizen and Blackbeard are more iconic antagonists, Bleach was at its peak of popularity during the Espada arc back during the golden era of anime, it basically had kinda the soul thematic of the series

Yhwach is better in terms of power, preparations and sucesses. But Aizen is more iconic, he was present for more episodes as antagonist than Yhwach, even with reveal of relation between Yhwach and Old Man Zangetsu it was too late/not that impactful to the Aizen's famous betrayal.

Aizen is my goat for a reason but to be fair yhwach really is being portrayed in a way it possibly could rival or surpass Aizen.

agree with this, I also just don't think Yhwach is interesting, but regardless I think it's true

Aizen is iconic, cool, and timeless. He has 28 times more favs than Yhwach does here on MAL.
And Aizen still makes Bleach fans go nuts just be sitting in a chair and smiling. He'll never be dethroned!

Nah, Aizen was way more interesting of an antagonist, Yhwach is kinda boring.

Aizen because he had more time to develop and is an intelligent dude like Light Yagami, you get that same vibe from him which is a good thing IMHO, Yhwach on the other hand just feels like the usual boring OP last boss.

Aizen by a mile.

Yhwach is quite literally a walking powerscale with very little going on in terms of personality or charisma. He is the type of last boss who makes brainless shonen kids go "oh he is the best because he is the strongest" like Jiren, Kaguya or Kaido do.

The only thing I like about him is the Quincy Prophecy, but Aizen (and maybe even Ulquiorra) are better written.

yhwach has more actual foreshadowing than aizen ever did, most of aizens plans dont actually make sense. but the sheer fact that we met Yhwach, that hes old man zangetsu was actually ichigos quincey blood resonating with him... it all becomes a lot more consistent. plus his feats are objectively better than aizen

Aizen is a Nietzschean figure written around the concept of the Ubermensch, while Yhwach is an inversion of Jesus Christ—two of the most important philosophical figures in Western civilization. This is the type of high-art you don't see in 99% of animanga and 100% of LNs. Kubo is well-cultured and injects this sophistication into his work despite it inevitably going over your average anime fan's head. They're both peak shounen villains and which one you think is better ultimately just boils down to which type of villain you prefer. Personally, I prefer Yhwach, but Aizen has higher highs in the series like betraying the Soul Society, making quick work of everyone trying to stop him before proceeding to ascend to Hueco Mundo as he says the famous line about standing atop the heavens.

Aizen will always be more iconic because he's been the main villain for much of the series including during the peak of its popularity thus has a greater cultural presence in the animanga community than Yhwach. But Yhwach has the potential to be a better villain by the end of this arc.

Yhwach serves as a much-needed parallel to Aizen in the series. Aizen is a methodical slow-burner who plans behind the shadows. You can see his machinations all the way back to the Turn Back the Pendulum mini-arc. Yhwach is the opposite: He's introduced in the final arc, so we get to know who he is almost immediately. And in many respects he is immediately more impressive than Aizen. He's boots-on-the-ground and kills Yamamoto—the pillar of the Soul Society—before targeting the Soul Palace. Actually, he and his soldiers accomplish more against the Soul Society than Aizen and his army could in just the first invasion alone.

All of this makes sense as well; Yhwach is a warlord, whilst Aizen is a scientist. They both want the same thing, but for different reasons with different endgames; and the MC has a personal relation to both of them for different reasons. Kubo even tells this duality visually, with Aizen dressed slick in all-white, whilst Yhwach in all-black as he dominates the page/screen composition.

Yhwach has better lore and better motives (it's literally 'Elder God Tier' in the villains tier-list meme: Motives that are hard to find fault in and arguably better than the protagonists). Meanwhile, Aizen has a better personality and charisma. Both have great villainous teams (for different reasons, once again) and power designs, but I prefer Yhwach in both aspects. Yhwach being directly involved in The Blade Is Me—the most important moment in the entire series—as OMZ himself is also more centralizing to Ichigo than Aizen ever was.

Is Yhwach supposed to be german or jewish? I don't get it. I don't know how to even pronounce his name.
Cool character tho.

Aizen is iconic and charismatic and will always be my fave villain of the Jump series, but Yhwach's sh*t talking is pretty funny too haha. Can't wait to see it animated and hear his VA say the lines during the climax of the arc.

On paper, Ywach is the better villain, but Aizen has the better execution. That's why Aizen's iconic moments are remembered to this day while Ywach(s more enduring moment eas talking to Aizen that one time.

Yhwach is bad written/broken villian, he his a mixture of plot armor and deus ex machina... Aizen on the other end is the complete opposite, well written, there's no plot holes with him at least when Bleach was good. Cunningness vs convenient power to predict the future, it's a no brainer
