Batch release for all six episode, this didn't look bad. Though definitely different from the usual.

This is beyond epic, the graphics, the cinematography, the acting, you can really feel the pain and suffering of war and the gray morality of each side.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

This shit is so ass. Pure fucking Zeon-wank propaganda. Oh those poor oppressed people who the show never acknowledges their warcrimes. Operation British? The Zabi family? Not important cause they just want to go home now! One of the shittiest endings I've ever seen too. My expectations were low but holy fuck.

Okay, I work for the Nazis from outer space but I'm still on Earth fighting a pointless battle because I want to pretend I'm a hero. The Zabi's brainwashing is very powerful.

The animation looks like a PS3 game and have a lot of uncanny valley.

The fights scenes and "EX" model killing zeonics every time is the only good thing in this show.

I finished watching it and for me it's better than Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury.

Interesting setting with us looking more deeply at the Zeon’s perspective. Some of the details like a professional violinist holding a rank of captain while also being a mother of 12-14 year old. And to top it off she’s an ace mobile suit pilot. Too many back details on the MC. This series feels like a mish mash of War in the pocket and 08th MS Team. It’s a bottom tier Gundam ONA, but not the worst. Enjoyable, but nothing to brag about.

Iria's anti-war message is laughable!
Poor series!
Bad animation!
Worse music!

My notes from the episode:

Wow, the poor Feddies can't even sweep a forest properly.
Imagine the group of Guntanks not being guarded by GMs.
Imagine even worst, the back sensors of this Gundam not working, making its backstabbing pretty easy.
And of course the NewType precognitive powers never work when the plot demands it.
Seriously, what's wrong with Iria? The mental contact with the Gundam pilot made her a traitor or something?

And my impression from the season - it could work despite retreading this UC period is kind of boring now.
It didn't.
- One major problem is the lack of certain degree of military realism. There were some weird and outright stupid moments. They should've have on board a military consultant or two...or maybe they had, but didn't listened to them at all times.
- The characters talked too much even in scenes they shouldn't, like in battle or while infiltrating an enemy base. This is a Hollinwood syndrome tho.
- One of the goals was to make Zeon's soldier somehow sympathetic, but also to push an anti-war message. This is hard to achieve and they failed.
- The Gundam pilot was a total weirdo, They totally failed to present him as a human being. Maybe he was a CyberType?
- The captain of the "scrap base" was interesting till certain point - evil, petty, but fulfilling his duties...than he stopped making sense.
- One of the gaols was to get interested some noobs into the Gundam lore, that was shoehorned and forced.
- I kind of liked the designs, but the character animation was horrible. also some of mobile suits changed characteristics on the fly.
- And last but not least the story made no sense to me, like Iria going suddenly anti-war? I wasn't convinced. The rest were some tired war tropes and going from point A (in Romania) to point B (in Ukraine) with side quests.

So, it was a trash show, but I enjoyed all those clunky rusty mechs doing improbable parcour around, also a UC reference or two.

I didn't hate it, but it was a jumbled mess of gundam tropes, all explored better in other gundam anime.

I enjoyed it, a Zaku I made a brief appearance. I guess Iria will fight in ZZ Gundam, still it was stupid of her to not leave and be with her own son.

That was decent, it wasn't bad, but it definitely could have been better, MSIGLOO was much better, for example, I wish they made a direct sequel to MSIGLOO covering the retreat of Zeon in space instead of this.

I actually thought this was a pretty good series. Like objectively it was well written and the CG was really good as well. I wanted to be like "Teehee, western Gundam anime equals bad." But it I really can't think of any genuine criticism. It was especially neat to see the Gundam as an antagonist.

It was an ok mini-series. Story is nothing special, seen many times, but it's not boring either. 3D was good, I see people complaining, but I haven't noticed anything really wrong, only doctor's face looks really weird, even in comparison to other characters. Diversity emphasis though was higher than I would like for a series, and that pink hair in the army is no-go.
Music was good though, I liked the OP.

The story was cringe-worthy, the characters unrelatable, the human animation meh, but mech fights were good.

I quite enjoyed that series, the human animation could have used some work but the animation on the vehicles and mobile suits was great. The plot was pretty good as well, fairly simple but it didn't need to be complex. The ending with Ilia joining up with the Zeon remnants to continue fighting I felt didn't quite match what was set up, with the way the scene was initially framed I thought she was going to abandon the war and live out her days in rural isolation. Still, I enjoyed my time with the show. I've not watched much Gundam myself (Just G:Witch before this actually) but I felt this was a pretty good entry point to other parts of the franchise.

That was so bad, lol.

Iria was a terrible MC. The writing and dialogue was ass.
The human animation is so stiff and janky, its so weird. CGI movies from the early 2000's have better animation.
Despite all of this the MS' looked great, and the battles were quite enjoyable.

Very disappointing.

Not good, not terrible. 6,5/10 i would say. Plot is quite simple, nothing special.
Animations of the character expressions is certain emotional scenes were just bland...
Highlight was definitely the mech combat.

They actually went with that route in the end, kinda liked that its actually not a fairytale 'good' ending, though it felt kinda cheap in a way too.

The OP theme was well done. Seems wasted on this show though.

Despite being 100% CG, it was better than expected...mainly because my expectations were rock bottom to begin with for any CG show. The human animations still looked like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within levels of jankiness.

I thought the main protagonist Iria Solari, was going to be a woke feminist with that god-awful side-shaven head fashion faux pas hairdo that refuses to leave the early to mid 2010s. But she turned out to be quite likable, character written-wise, with the shaven head able to be explained by the scar there, as it helps to heal without long hair in the way...maybe happened hen her husband died which was apparently recently. Still hate the look though.

Pink-haired Lt. Arhun Hailey on the other hand, has that honor of being super ugly AF, as if Stephanie became radicalized after Lazy Town got bombed...Especially with that hideous bull nose ring. Is she a cow? Grass-fed, no doubt. Her looks just scream of modern-day California liberal, rather than a believable sci-fi near future soldier in a quasi-Nazi Germany-inspired army. If she were a freelance contractor (mercenary), I can understand, and even excuse her overly chaotic character design, but as a mid-rank Lt. soldier in the Zeon army that demands uniformity, I'm not buying it. It breaks the lore of not only Gundam, but virtually every standard army in the world. The tattoos were fine (except the face tattoos, that's an out). Even the pink hair was fine (Lacus is my oshi). But it was the combination of all of the above; the excessive face tattoos, pink hair, and nose ring altogether, that pushed it over the edge. FFS, pick only one! And how the hell is her armor supposed to be suitable for space as a spacenoid anyway? Simple...it just doesn't. She should be in a space suit like the Red Wolves or army uniform. Just looking at her breaks my suspension of disbelief, and honestly it makes me want to gag. Her written character isn't a problem though; just her hideous character design.

As a stand-alone series, it wasn't super terrible, but wasn't the best either...far from it. Basically "War is bad..everyone sad"...a recipe that anyone could make, so long as they don't screw it up. They didn't exactly break new ground here.

I can see why they killed the Gundam kid even though it makes zero sense with his super-human abilities, they needed to close this story and wrap it up. But since they killed off the kid, I don't see it getting any kind of sequel, not that it should get one in the first place, ha...no, absolutely not. Still, the story itself was pretty okay, and better than most other CG-made series. It was an ambitious project, and one that I think the team should be proud of all the work they put into it...although they should be ashamed of whoever designed Lt. Arhun Hailey...If I wanted to see characters like her, I'd scroll through Twitter or Facebook's Threads. No thank you, Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura. Even if I wiped my ass with your character drawing papers, I'd see no difference after the shit smear.

That 6.5/10 overall rating here sounds about right, more or less what I'd give this series as well. 6/10.

Not the greatest story in the world but I liked a lot more than the usual seasonal stuff. That ending reminds me of War in the Pocket. I have to admit it felt a little manipulative.

Unfortunately, that kid ended ended up the same way a lot of pilots in Victory Gundam did. Mercy on the battlefield only goes in one direction. People with plot armor live and everyone else dies.

It's been quite some time since I watched MS Igloo, but I think this anime was much better than those two were. An understated newtype ace survived with plot armor and connected with another newtype that died. They also respected what a Gundam can do and explained how it could operate for so long. (Willpower, a lot a of beam sabers that were put back in their rechargeable racks, and real careful use of munitions)

It's a Gundam fact that well animated Gundam shows are on their way out. The last crazy well animated Gundam was G-Reco and it made no money. I myself still haven't made time to finish the movies. Plus, considering the glacial pace that Thunderbolt's manga gets published, Gundam Thunderbolt works better as a one and done story in space than a disappointment on earth.

If stories like these are what we will see in the future, I could accept more Gundam animated in this fashion. You better believe I'm gonna be rewatching the well animated Gundam shows tho.

Final score 8/10. Gotta rate it higher than 0083 and other Gundam OVAs.
