So without spoiling anything what's this show like? like compare it to another romance anime. Or is it totally unique?

cause I'm really exited for this I love the 2 mc's design's. I was about to read it when the anime got announced. So ill probably hold off until the anime airs.

finally a guy without a generic af design

Idk know how to describe but there’s just this emotion in the dialogue and the situations that makes you care about the characters and how they feel more which is great for a rom/com drama

I think the best place to start is reading the synopsis, if there is one. I would say you could argue it's unique, but at the same time I feel like it's just different compared to other romance anime. It has no fan service, no tropes, just wholesome relationship building and a lotta "real" moments. I would also argue that the one thing about this manga is that the side characters actually play huge importance compared to other romance shows, maybe even outshines them in some aspects. Every character plays a part and also for manga readers Waguri's face expressions are so good.

I can't say particularly what makes it different, but the MC couple is great, no bs that comes with them. Every character actually feels like an actual human being. Even the parts that have no romance are just so great and make you happy.

I take no credit for the writing of this synopsis found it from Amazon when I purchased the first volume..

Chidori High is a boys' school that takes in the dregs of society with the lowest grades. Next door stands Kikyo Girls' High, where the wealthy, high-class families send their precious daughters. Chidori second-year Rintaro, who has a fierce face but a gentle heart, is helping at his family's patisserie when he meets a girl named Kaoruko. The two hit it off right away…but this blissful peace is quickly disturbed when Rintaro discovers that Kaoruko is actually a student at Kikyo. Worse, she doesn't seem to realize what a huge problem this really is! Will these two be able to forge a path for themselves, and sidestep the traps (metaphorical and literal) laid by their classmates?

You should've ask this on the manga forum but o well, some things i mentioned might be wrong cause I read the first few chapters long ago and now we're in 100+ chapters. It's a manga which is realistic in most of the ways. It's very similar to the season 1 of horimiya. It's a very wholesome romance with no bull shit or whatever. The concept is like boarding school Juliet, the female lead belongs to an all girl school which is known for it's smart kids and she's the top student there if I remember correctly and the MC belongs to an all boys school which is not that good i think, the school are right next infront of each others, the girls look down on the boys and treat them like some insects. The two of them have to hide their relationship so they talk to each other like how many fking far away like running from a country everyday just for them to find a coffee shop and talk. The mc has friends. The mc doesn't listen to the female lead's best friend when she tells him with a tragic backstory and tell the mc to don't talk with the female lead anymore because he's a giga chat.

It's kinda like Horimiya. The relationship between the main two is different though because they are, essentially, different characters. The cast is also different. But if I were to compare it to another romance manga, it would be hori

Its definitely a very unique romance story. But more than just romance its also a very wholesome story about a friend group trying to hang out despite the boundaries their surroundings put between them. Idk how far the anime is gonna adapt but i hope it gets as far as it can!

I agree. As a fellow Horimiya fan, this manga gave me similar vibes. Though where Horimiya prioritises being funny, this one tries to be serious and mature and emotional. And I am loving it. Though the only criticism I have for the moment is that the female mc is too perfect. She is great but feels a lot like Mary Sue. She is beautiful, exceptionally kind, and all around perfect. I am hoping there will be more developments that explore her character.

@Ramen2222 Well I'm happy its got no fan service I don't mind that stuff but its not really what I want in a romance and I'm sick of common troupes so I'm glad this one has none.

and yeah I've seen a few panels from the manga the art style looks amazing and Waguri has a contagious af smile

I’d say it sometimes gets to be too verbal with the real bits, like teetering on the edge of uncharacteristically insightful and honest, but I’ve definitely seen that kind of thing done worse and I’ve never doubted that those moments do come from the character and not just the author saying something using the character.

I think the characters really stand out for me, pretty much everyone is well written and have a personality of their own, plus it doesn’t drag out, every chapter feels fresh and new.

Lastly, it’s just too wholesome to miss out.

Imagine if there was a manga where everyone just fw each other? This is that anime. Some ppl may find it boring with it very dialogue heavy and it being a slow burn romance but i swear to you all, this is the best feel good manga I've read.
At the end of the day, we all love watching trash.

@GRG3 I agree with this. They're kind of like two people from two completely different worlds. Rintaro is an extremely kind guy who is always mistaken for being a delinquent and attends a low ranking public school which gets hate from the next door prestigious school. Kaoruko is the biggest damn glutton of all time, extremely kind and innocent girl who attends a very prestigious girls school on a scholarship located right next to the low ranking public school. She herself, is unaware of the hate against the public school and doesn't share the same opinions but later comes to realize how bad the relationship is between both schools and works on finding away around that to maintain relationships with her friends from that school
