Gun Gale Online adapts the spin-off light novel by Keiichi Sigsawa (Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World), which has been published under the Dengeki Bunko imprint since December 2014, featuring illustrations by Kouhaku Kuroboshi (Princess Principal). Kadokawa published the 13th volume in March 2023 and will release the 14th volume on October 10. Tadadi Tamori drew a manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh magazine from October 2015 to January 2021. Kadokawa shipped the fourth and final volume in March 2021. Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga in English in 2017 and published the 13th novel volume in November 2023. SAO original movie coming soon too and I'm sure they'll adapt the final bits following the Aliciazation arc as well as churn out more of those progressive movies. |

| @malvarez1 Sometimes I think it's not so much the show itself that people love, but the fact that it's a unique opportunity to get SAO without Kirito. I still remember threads on Reddit where people cited the absence of Kirito and related elements of the show as practically the main selling point of the anime for them. |
