I first started this manga about 6 months ago but got bored in like 13-14 chapters so I put it on hold. I forgot most of it so I started reading from the beginning again like a month ago and read the first 4 volumes and put it on hold for a few days. Like 3-4 days ago, I thought of continuing it so I started reading and again I noticed that I had forgotten most of the events and names except for the major ones so I re-read it all over once again (I don't have dementia). I continued from volume 5 today and had again forgotten a few things. I also noticed that my comprehension is quite bad in this particular manga. I don't get why is it happening. Nothing like this has EVER happened and I still remember a good portion of most of the animes and mangas that I've watched/read in the past few years.

^ I have to agree with this. It's also possible that you read mangas just to complete them, so when you struggle to comprehend some panels you just quit/abandon it instead of reading slower and processing what's going on, and that maaaaybe makes u feel like the manga is longer and more dense than it really is. I consider punpun to be a masterpiece, so don't miss out on the experience and train your attention spam and reading comprehension at your own pace. So, it is a fixable problem and not the manga's fault (although it made me take a few breaks because the plot can get really dark, that's super okay, the style and the weirdness of the manga can be confusing but it's part of its essence and everything will come up together at the end)

It sounds serious. I think you should see a doctor and get it checked out.

@miloversutia Honestly speaking, I read all the sentences properly and don't just hover my eyes around them to read fast.

Yes. Dude has zero attention span: my advice?

Get off TikTok
Pay attention
Read mangas to read mangas not to get rep/complete them

If your attention span is this low that’s really concerning to be honest

to be fair y'all pumpkin does have an interesting way of portraying certain events and key details so I can see some stuff being lost on someone or misunderstanding or being confused.

All of these replies are terrible. There’s nothing wrong with you. You’ve already gave the series plenty of chances. I’d say move on if you have no interest to continue

every Inio manga i read took me some time to start reading through the whole thing, didn't happen with other mangakas. and the realism in the mangas may be one of the reasons for you forgetting the previous chapters you read because nothing unique happens in the beginning of his mangas, it takes time for him to set up the pace.

i think if you really wanna read, force yourself through it by reading a few chapters daily.

Honestly it’s neither your attention span or you’re on a burnout from manga. If I were you, I would probably read stuff I already read and enjoyed to see if my experience and memories of that manga you enjoyed compared to the manga you are struggling with are any different. It might be because you might not enjoy it but another possible case is that you just might need a break from reading manga and maybe other forms of media for a while. Often what happens to me is that I read mangas every now and then rather reading mangas continuously.

Also you might just not enjoy the manga as much as you thought you would maybe. I don’t also tend to remember mangas or animes that I don’t enjoy, don’t find them memorable.

I just pushed through the chapters which I didn't understand, well you don't really need to remember everything to understand it since it's like an active commentary

If it happens with every manga/anime then go get checked out by a neurologist ASAP. If not then just try to improve your attention span by uninstalling TikTok and other social media from your devices. Last but not least it could just be that Punpun is too difficult for your grade, that’s a possibility…

maybe you're just not interested, hence why you don't retain information about some events
just put it on hold and come back to it when you really feel like reading it all the way through, or drop it entirely if you think that its just not your thing

Everyone in these replies are just making fun of you icl. I would say just drop the manga cause clearly it’s not interesting to you and perhaps the reason why you keep forgetting everything is because you’re not enjoying the manga enough to focus on the events that are unveiling. I say go read a different manga.

It simply means the story or writing style isn't clicking with you, there's nothing wrong with that, don't force yourself to read it just because others hail it as one of the best manga of all time, everyone has different taste, and that's ok

My god, the amount of condescending and immature a-hole comments in this thread are unreal, "too difficult for your grade"? Are we seriously resorting to insulting other's intelligence just because they don't like a manga you think is great?

Seems like you dont like but you are forcing yourself to like it if it really didnt happened with other manga. However, if it is something common then your attention span or something worse may be going on, or you are just not into manga anymore, OR you are more focusing on completing and rating an manga than actively engaging with it.

And that is coming from someone who doesnt think this manga is great or anything like that, though i still enjoyed it.

You accurately described me. I was forcing myself to like it. It was good but it didn't hit me hard enough (I wanted it to tho)
