The first few episodes are shounen but the later episodes are so shoujo.
The protagonist is way too K-POP-looking that I lost interest cuz I always avoid series which the protagonist portrayed like a k-pop star and this also why I don't watch k-dramas.

The world is cruel, ugly and pitiful. Let's watch anime and make it colorful

Usually you can tell the target audience by character design. This is why I consider jjk and oshi no ko a shoujo. Bishounen gives it away.

As a representative of the Shoujo demographic, we humbly decline your offer 🫸

It’s just the Korean beauty standards being reflected in the artwork, which most fanboys really love (just watch a Twice fan chant video lol: https://youtu.be/DC8H-rp-k9A?si=5hpjdQ93_NVP3MUY).

All central themes are more relatable to a typical shounen fan, nothing about it screams shoujo.

Ofcourse it’s k-pop looking, the original manhwa was made by Koreans. I’m confused here, the anime will obviously reflect the origin. Simply just don’t watch lmao and stop complaining.

Korean manhwa doesn't have the shounen, shoujo, seinen, josei, and kodomo demographics to them.

The only thing I was able to find about Solo Leveling target audience is that it's aimed at 10+

And that's just my opinion, but I think it's kind of retard to give assign Japanese anime & manga demographics to non-Japanese fiction. In general, the whole demographic thing is also retard. If you watched enough from any demographic you won't see anything that unites them.

It's a Korean webtoon so ofc it'll look k-pop like. And Solo Leveling isn't shoujo. it's shōnen. But it goes beyond that as there are fans from across all demographics.

Animations and musical score carry hard, the work the animation team did is somewhat outstanding

I think by ‘Shojo’ he meant the anime became more feminine, because the mc suddenly turn into an attractive guy like in k drama which are generally liked by female audience

you literally cannot judge an anime's genre from its art style, it doesn't make sense, jjk and onk character designs look nothing alike, jjk has more in common with code geass' artstyle but that doesn't make it shoujo now does it; something is only shounen shoujo josei or seinen when it's marketed towards that audience, nothing else is a deciding factor

No... like not even close. It's not even published in Shoujo magazine and doesn't remotely fit the definition. Like it's not even Shonen really, it's just power fantasy webtoon with demographic targets probably being young teens. It doesn't really fit both common definitions of it.

Every editorial work (and more than that, works of the entertainment industry,) has demographics aiming at kids/young man/young woman/man/woman (and sometimes even more procisely), which they are specially targetting. They obviously won't use "Shounen" and the likes, as more than demographic, they are literal Japanese words, used in everyday sentence.

Demographics targets are only very rarely publicly revealed, tho.

More than the Action itself, it's what it means and what it's used for in the story that count. In Solo Leveling's cases, it's mindless (and not so violent, both physically and psychologically), and used for a power-fantay story, which is typically categorized as works targetting young boys (Shounen).

So ?

He's a grown man due to his age, but he's still doubtfull of himself, and search a place for him in his world (even if it's very quickly forgotten, to make place for the power-fantasy). That's very typically a theme of Shounen stories.

And the age of the protagonist doesn't matter. Generally, he's the same age of the readers so that they can immerse themselves in the story more, but that's all. What the story is about, and thus, will categorize it as X or Y demographic will be the themes. There is quite a few (certified) Shounen which have adult protagonist (30 years old, more or less), like GTO and Rurouni Kenshin, or the more recent Kaijuu n°8.

Shoujo is targeted towards young girls. Usually stuff like romance.
This wasn't a manga but a manwha originally, so korean beauty standards will be reflected in the main guy.
Its not a shoujo just because the guy looks good. Would the guy have to be "non kpop" looking to be a shounen?
In that case nearly every action manwha out there would be a shouko
