MHA is done and JJK is ending in 5 chapters. That leaves Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, One Piece, and Chainsaw Man as the 3 most popular Shonen mangas still running, by far I might add. Is what I was going to say and then I realized that Boruto is actually better than all other mangas and is actually the Big 1 and therefore is in a league of its own and cannot be competed against because it is the best manga of all time and all history it is number 1. Do not even argue with me on this. |

They were never a new big three. The only big three it's one piece, Naruto and bleach and nothing else and that it's a fact. It's the big 3 for a reason that no new series reach because what those 3 did they were the only one to do it since they were there are the right time and place. |

@Otakupervert890 I look at the view count on the Manga Plus app and all 3 of the ones I listed are virtually tied around 300k to 400k views per chapter and fluctuate within that range. Only other mangas that do that are MHA/JJK which as I said are ending. Every other manga can’t break 200k. |

@Krystopher and the view doesn't count because it's not what made the big 3 the big 3. Instead of trying to push a new big three you should look into why the big 3 was the big 3 in the first place it would be a better use of your time. |

@Otakupervert890 What made the big 3 “the big 3” was most definitely the fact that were all the biggest shonen titles in the 2000s. |

@Krystopher Shonen it's a demographic so what you are saying it's just lip service you should actually look into because the real answer is way more simple and have more ramification that your attempts to create a new big three without even understanding why the big 3 was one in the first place. |

There's nothing worse than labeling random series as the "next big thing" for no apparent reason other than roleplay. |

@Otakupervert890 It was the Big 3 because those were the 3 big mangas in shonen jump and in general that everyone talked about when the internet was still brand new in the early 2000s and the anime community was finding each other on forums/image boards. Bleach, Naruto and One Piece were the 3 most popular mangas at the time, hence they were considered the Big 3, each with rabid fanbases that often fought each other over whose manga was the best. |

I added an image showing what the manga plus app looks like, those are the top 5 mangas and 2 and ending. Therefore the top 3 will now be known as the new Big 3. |

Everyone knows what the big 3 was, the 3 top, best selling and most popular manga 2 decades ago. @SimplyBrazen exactly, so the new “Big 3” is Boruto, Chainsaw Man, and One Piece, as Bleach is long gone, Boruto is doing as good or better than One Piece on apps, and Chainsaw Man has basically replaced Bleach. JJK and MHA were up there making it more of a top 5 but now they are over. I’m not reinventing the wheel here. |

Manga Plus' userbase is very small in comparison to the actual amount of anime fans in the community currently. I think a better way to determine popularity would be through manga sales, both in Japan and worldwide. |

The reason the big 3 were the big 3 was because they were by far the biggest shonen (and anime in general) for years without competition, Boruto isn't that big compared to other anime and chainsaw man is way too short |

There's always talk of a new "Big 3" but it's not about just sales numbers or popularity, it's about a generational series that sent ripples throughout media worldwide, it's likely a once in a lifetime happening. I like Chainsaw Man, but in what world can you compare its influence to the likes of One Piece? Naruto? Or even the smallest of the three, Bleach? |

You can personally consider them that way if you wish, but the thing is: for most people, the "Big 3" doesn't just mean "whatever series are the top 3 most popular at any given time". That title was specifically attributed to One Piece, Naruto and Bleach because they ran almost uninterrupted for years and years in both manga and anime form, and consistently competed with each other in popularity for about a decade. Those kinds of conditions have never really been recreated for later mainstream shounen titles since their anime adopted the seasonal approach and the options became much more numerous. Looking at your own candidates for the "new Big 3", I just don't see it: - I mean, One Piece is the exception. That one's still huge and it obviously retains its spot still. - Boruto has never quite captured the same level of popularity as its predecessor once did, nor has it managed to overshadow any of the more recent popular shounen contenders. Also, isn't the anime on hiatus right now? - I dunno much about Chainsaw Man, but didn't the anime's first season get blasted by most fans and manga readers? I also read that its Bluray/DVD sales severely underperformed, to the point where a second season follow-up is now in question. |

@Krystopher Yeah, from what i picked up here and there, a lot of people were hating on studio MAPPA's use of CGI models (which I can believe 'cause I remember Attack on Titan fans having that same attitude towards MAPPA's handling of the Final Seasons), and I think I read some criticisms about the anime director's Hollywood-esque, cinematic style not meshing well with the manga's visual tone and presentation. @Krystopher Huh, that's interesting. I didn't know Boruto's manga was doing that well. So I guess most of the issues people have with it are coming specifically from the anime side of things? From what I heard, the anime fell into the trap of having to put out endless non-canon filler, because it didn't go with the seasonal format route that would give the manga a chance to get further ahead. |

@Stygian_Prisoner manga physical sales are bad, the digital sales are doing well according to Jump+ and other manga apps. I hope the anime makes a return in seasonal format, you can’t do a monthly manga and a weekly anime doesn’t work like that. |
