Saki talked more about herself to Yuta. She asked Yuta for some advice regarding part-time jobs. She decided that she will cook too. Maaya is here. She now knows about Yuta.

I absolutely love it so far. It's so unusual - animation, pace, characters but I enjoy it.
Can someone explain me their conversation when she was talking about selling herself and he apologized? I didn't get it.

I love it the episode focus a lot on internal conflict and there are so much inspiring words you can take away and use them in real life honestly the anime itself is a masterpiece but I would say only for people who like to be alone, people who like piece and quiet environment

Ok so after the first episode was so depressing I had to reach out to local mental health providers to keep myself from hurling my body off the tallest local building I decided to go read the manga… I really wish I had a friend or acquaintance who was Japanese so they could confirm or deny that THIS is how 17 y/o Japanese youths think and act.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ No spoilers but let’s just say not much is going to happen in this season. We have 2 kids who both have parents that have been through a divorce. This event has effected them so deeply that both need EXTENSIVE psychiatric care in order to lead normal lives. Both children wholeheartedly believe that allowing themselves to be happy about ANYTHING, even the smallest thing, is on the same level as killing an entire pediatric ward of babies.. it’s beyond silly and just plain strange. Neither of these have been abused, mistreated, neglected, or any major reason that would justify this intense desire to see any kind of happiness as the greatest evil one could commit. The strangest thing (for me anyway) is how the author flip flops from them acting like 35 year olds who’ve finally given up on their dreams to 12 year olds that balk at the most basic level of communication. We’ve seen this literally a million times in anime. They like each other but by god the sun will burn out before they tell each other anything. The entire story is so strange and awkward I kept waiting for some giant twist like one would kill or assault the other. I was 17 once. My parent went through a divorce. Sure I acted out some but it was a far cry to the dumpster fire our 2 mc’s are going through. Either way there’s no reason to strap in for this ride as the vehicle will only be traveling about 6mph lol.

@Myetx In my opinion Saki found out that Yuta was asking about her work but it turned out the rumors were false and he apologized for believing them but I honestly want to know too cause this is what I assume happened

I don't know how I feel about this show so far. Its not bad its just kind of there. I find myself comparing this show to domestic girlfriend and super cub. Domestic girlfriend for obvious reasons although aside from the stepsister thing they do feel pretty different and super cub because they both have very mellow and calm atmosphere's which in a way is realistic because most anime are over the top and eccentric were this and super cub have a more mature and realistic theme to them.

I find Saki very relatable, She like to be alone, She wants to be independent and she listens to music outside and nearly gets hit by cars (Yes I can relate to that). If this show continues this way like super cub did ill love this.

Side note: That red haired girl is absolutely gorgeous

I did feel less awkward with how the step-siblings were interacting with each other.

But again they seem eerily similar, with both wanting jobs to be independent in this episode.

Just like in the previous episode, with them sounding very similar in their characters and thinking when they were talking.

"Are you confessing to me", that line did crack me up, perfect timing.

The male MCs boss seems intelligent, but kinda of a strange girl, with her jokes and all.

It was fun to see the dad all excited about his new step-daughter helping with making food.

"Sniff Sniff, I can smell the rain", is she related to Tanjiro from Demon Slayer? 🤣 Just Kidding
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

@The_TFM_Hunter So that conversation was Saki teasing him?

No it was a misunderstanding, remember: Maru (Yuta Asamura’s friend) told him the rumors surrounding Saki, so when Saki brought the “selling” topic up and “job” Yuta assumed that the rumors surrounding Saki were true. In the end, it was all false so when he realized they were talking about a regular job/work, he apologized to Saki.

@The_TFM_Hunter Maybe it was lost in translation I watched.
Saki asked about very highly paid part -time jobs and Yuta replied that there are no jobs that pay so much money (obviously). And then Saki said that she could sell herself. Is she so naive not understanding how it sounds?
Yuta already answered her about regular jobs. Saki also mentioned her mother and that people also made wrong assumptions about her.

No no, she actually brought it up, she mentioned that because that is indeed paying very high unlike most jobs so that’s why she mentioned that, however, to Yuta it sounded like she was confirming that she’s selling herself, so he jumped on that conclusion.

I can see that some people are getting disappointed about the pacing of this anime or how by watching it they are getting depressed but for me, it's just the perfect pacing that I wanted. But I can see why some people are complaining about why the story feels depressing. But people need to know that it's not always fun and games when it comes to romance like Roshidere ( Another good anime this season). In reality, there is no such thing as that because all people face hard times in their lives even teenagers for me this perfectly represents how people may react when put through hard times and having people to help them like having a problem with a new family to live in. People might be relieved because they have a new family like Asamura's dad but some people might dislike it like Saki and Asamura because they don't even know each other. I like how the author represents it because for me it's like Oregairu (Oregairu is Better for me though) and I also like how the author gives light moments to make the whole story not too depressing or too slow by having some teasing to each other or having quality time together. So even though some people might dislike it. For the people who like it or even love it then let's strap in together to watch this anime about how this romance unfolds.

Truck-kun almost making a comeback in this episode😆

This is a decent anime, however convoluted at the same time, you sorta have to ask yourself how complicated can exploring a new relationship get, especially a sibling one, imo I don't think its that deep, this anime is somewhat frustratingly making it seem uncharted, I agree in the case of step-siblings the family dynamics might feel weird and awkward at first but that is the extent of it, but somehow with "Days with My Stepsister" these emotions and feelings are exacerbated and made to appear alien and insurmountable.

Not sure why literally nobody is flagging this but surely I'm not the only person with an issue with the tag "Romance" on such an anime, like yo siblings are not meant to be fucked, blood related or otherwise.

Still mad at her replying to every nice thing he does with "It's a waste". Judging by the end of the episode, it's going to be about him learning to care about his sister (which is nice), and her opening up and learning what it's like to feel cared about, which is alright, whatever it takes to not make her so stuck-up. I just hope we get to see more of the light to this gloomy world that are these side characters, mainly Maaya-chan and his work partner, I'm in for this ride.

- "Thanks for the bathwater." Yeah, out of context that sounds like Yuuta sold Saki a streamer's troll merch.

- Rumors has it that Saki is a prostitute?

- Can't blame Yuuta getting this impression that Saki would be the center of attention.

- Turns out Saki's mom is a bartender. Which would explain her unconventional routine.

- I found it amusing that the translator had to note that reading in the dark isn't recommended.

- Saki is looking for work that would pay about $62 for 1-2 hours. Considering that Washington DC's minimum wage is $17 per hour, her aspiration for $62 feels impractical. Yuuta is right to point out you can't get that with a normal job. Yuuta's remark has Saki blurt out about selling something. This clearly leads to a misunderstanding about Saki selling off her own body in the red light district. Thankfully, that misunderstanding wasn't dragged out... with the next scene clearing things up that Saki wants to stand up on her own two feet.

- Saki talking about her outfit being an armament causes Yuuta to describe it in gamer terms. 🙃 What a dork. And I like it.

- Surprised to hear the word "nonsense" being clearly said in the audio. With the discussion shifting to female stereotyping, sounds about right.

- The "miso soup request" and "finding work favor" instantly reminded me of Higehiro.

- What would you like with your fried eggs? Soy sauce, or salt and pepper? I'm with Saki on this one.

- Turns out Yuuta also has aspirations of living on his own. His female, earl grey drinking co-worker suggests to rely on family first.

- I totally did not expect that truck-kun would make an apperance here. If not for Yuuta's actions, Saki would have been isekai-ed. "I Was Going To Be A Villainess In My Next Life, But Destiny Intervened When My Stepbro Came"... might as well have been the title for this episode.

- Yuuta must have been very impatient to go home when he decides to lend Saki his umbrella but goes off in the rain anyway.

- Saki invited her red haired friend over. Stay tuned for what happens next....

@Naniivalentino From what I understood, Saki meant 'Selling yourself' in a figurative way, like you have to be presentable and make yourself look like you're worth a lot etc. Because normally you don't get paid enough. And also could mean you give your time and effort etc so = selling yourself... But everyone misunderstood it in a direct way like selling your body.

I didn't really like the choices they made with this episode, like Yuuta diving to save Saki from truck-kun but not actually showing us what happened. It's like it skipped a massive chunk of useful exposition. The same with the misunderstanding about Saki saying she'd sell her body, he apologises but we don't see how they cleared up the misapprehension or if she even realised what he was implying. Maybe this one is just too subtle and nuanced for me to understand? Or is this more cultural and it just doesn't translate well?

I know what you mean. They take their sweet time for little, minute actions and hold onto certain scenes for quite some time, but skip through others rather quickly.

I guess they focus more on reflecting about certain issues before and after the fact instead of showing us the inciting incidents?! But it's a shame because I really like the dialogue in this show, it feels so down to earth and authentic. It's mostly cold and distant, not to overstep their bounderies, yet there is a wish for company present. In both of them.
Still, my mind wonders how they would interact under emotionally charged moments...like a near-death experience for example.

Really liked how she phrased it and the overall conversation that followed.

Much better than the first episode as we got to know more about Saki and got more interactions between the two. Good to know why she's like that, she's a strong girl but also seems fragile at the same time. They also nulled any sort of allegations of that sort on Saki. Senpai once again was fun to watch but I had a feeling she might be talking about herself there?

Things picked up this episode specially at the end there. I wonder why they made him saving Saki from an accident into sort of a flashback and colorless transition. Any bigger significance of it later on? Anyway for now Saki brought her friend home so things should be amusing.

I don't think I really understand what drives Saki. She seems like she wants to be self reliant to the extreme of pushing others away from herself on purpose, but she still accepts Yuuta's help. I guess it comes from her seeing others disrespect her mom and so she wants to be just as stylish and intelligent but on her own terms. Maybe she is not trusting of others to protect herself and she would prefer if Yuuta and his dad were bad people so that she wouldn't have to think about trustworthiness in the first place

On another note it's obvious the pacing is slow and meant to give the viewer time to process what's being said and felt. I'm cool with it, I like when anime makes an attempt to be meaningful and uses occasional symbolism. I just hope it continues to execute these things with finesse

Another good episode, builds off the start well and the sound direction and live-action level cinematography continues to shine here. Pacing is slower and makes the show feel a bit dreary and depressing tonally but I do like what I'm seeing so far with the adaptation for the most part. The lack of monologues at times bothered me a bit in the first episode but it is a different take and it is still doing a solid job for the time being with the characters so I'll wait and see how the rest of the season turns out with this approach. Some scenes linger a bit but in a way, feels a bit more awkward in a real way given their relationship and adjustments still being made. Was nice seeing a bit more of Saki's characterization here and understanding why she is the way she is, even with flaws being defined early on and her showcasing glimpses of how fragile she is internally and how she has to wear her clothes, style her hair almost like armor and even have her demeanor to protect her mentally in a way. This show definitely won't be among the most acclaimed of the season given the topic at hand and how its pacing and direction can be too dry for a portion of viewers but it feels refreshing in how everything is handled and I'm liking what I am seeing so far. The communication and openness through the awkwardness works for me to get to understand who we are following in more detail.

The relationship between the two seems to be going well but there was some drama.
The misunderstanding about the part time job was one of them than there is the rumours which is just a guy being angry about being rejected.
Now we have a friend coming home making me look forward to next week.
Also the dads reaction to Saki cooking was funny, he was really happy with that.

Yuta is seeming more genuine while Saki is still staying in her shell. Feel bad for her though subject to such rumores her way of approch in life is not wrong but maybe he will start depending on his brother more
It's a slow burn SoL rather than typical romcoms. Unique approach and so far it's good.

What was this episode trying to convey? Felt like the dialog was all over the place trying to convey something deep/philosophical/pov but not knowing what conclusion they were going for.

Be independent.
Rely on someone.
Prove others wrong.
You don't need others.

Are they going for paradox?

Followed by quite a few 'he will save her' trope scenes.

Again... What was this episode trying to convey?

p.s.
Have to watch this at 2x speed else it becomes so tedious to watch with how dragged on and slow every single scene is.

Pretty good episode with both Saki and Yuta learning some life lessons especially Saki with needing to be aware of her surroundings when crossing a street. But seriously though, it does seem like both of them were somewhat neglected coming from single parent households but they are slowly starting to rely and trust each other which is great to see. Maybe down the road they will share an umbrella too.

I still don't understand much about Saki, like she doesn't really care about herself. The point is that in this episode there is a little progress between Yuuta and Saki.

Being independent is Saki and Yuuta's principle, but they both can rely on their family if they doesn't want to burden others. And I hope some progress can be made soon.

What an interesting anime, I liked the clear difference in the VA of the background character in school and the 2 MC, they really feel like they aren't the same. Saki has a lot of hidden things, I wonder what she was refering to before she said nevermind. We are also left with an epic cliffhanger, what will the reaction of the popular red haired school girl be to learn that they are step siblings !? We will know next week.

that truck-kun scene gave me a heart attack lol, and ended with a cliffhanger that turned out to be Saki bringing her friend to their house. Saki really is a person who has a lot to hide.
