It's something that really bother me while watching this. Honestly playing favourite in your harem isn't completely bad consider how the early setting goes especially in this anime, but please keep it not TOO one-sided like this. As example, look how DxD harem goes. Rias is oblivious Issei's favourite, but other girls have decent amount of flirtating/bonding too throughout the anime airing.

I get it, this whole season premise is precisely for collecting the rings. But still Hime x Satou takes too much in my opinion.
Hopes that they fixed this issues in the next season, especially since the latest cliffhanger ended with 'let's have more bond with your wife'.

it's his girlfriend and he actually likes her unlike the other girls who just married him for the rings

highschool DxD doe's work as a comparison because Issei isn't going around collecting women for a purpose or something, nvm how he's a pervert unlike Satou

@Saimatsu_Fan you know that this series is basically classic fantasy battle ecchi + harem formula right? There is no way to play dumb here. Then if that is not convice you, umm......maybe Arifureta harem is more acceptable comparison for you?

I also gladly happy if they go on that route

yes it's a harem series but there's a reason why the MC is focusing on one girl in the beginning, which you ignored

also stop with the Arifureta " hate " lol

It's because everytime Satou got a new girl for his harem, he kept saying they didn't matter and that only Hime was the only one for him. They didn't get much attention as Hime did.

Oh don't worry, it pretty much fixed itself later. I won't spoil anything though. "Interesting" things took place in the manga, lol.

Satou is the type of guy who will creampie every girl and still say he loves Hime.

Satou is a damned moron. He gets told he literally gets more powerful by deepening his relationships with his wives, and then... chooses not to. They've got the BBEG breathing down their necks and nearly killing him more than once, and he's still hemming and hawing over doing the deed with his childhood friend whom he's been in love with forever, let alone the hot catgirl who's totally DTF and has a bad case of baby rabies.

Shinzo Abe would be disgusted by this idiot.

Yes!! It's awful! He understood that he would have to have all these wives, and kept moving forward, but then treated them like they were so inferior to Hime. How could you have such a disregard for your wife?

And Hime is bad too for acting jealous. She was raised knowing full well that her husband has a very real chance of having 5 wives, but she behaved as if she was from a culture that was all about monogamy. It's literally her 1 job to be with the guy who will be with all the ring princesses.

It was absolutely awful watching this when it aired, especially since it was like the season right after 100 Girlfriends which handled harem 10000x better.

In fairness, Hime's jealousy does sort of make sense, since she was expecting a loveless marriage to prince what's-his-face rather than the guy she actually loves. Having to share a power sink with legs rather than her crush is worlds different.

I hear what you're saying, but then Satou would have a similar excuse. He understood that he was only interfering in the wedding to get the girl he had a crush on, not all these extras that he doesn't have eyes for.

I know that emotions don't follow the logic of situations, but those two hardly tried. It's not just Satou gets stronger with his bond with all 5, it's the fate of Hime's entire world. Every life is in the balance, and they both are fully aware (Hime more than Satou), but choose to act as if they are the only two that matter. Do they have to watch a surviving nation get wiped off the map before they think, "Oh, I guess maybe I should be encouraging him to deepen his relationship with the others and work on fixing or, at least, hiding my jealousy."

Hime's first and I'm slow burning things with Hime even though EVERYONE approves and all their lives depend on me moving forward, but I'll take any excuse to do things slowly. Satou is a selfish idiot.

It's hard to take the Ecchi formula serious when the exact and proven premise is that deeper relationships equal more raw power...

and we still have the MC refusing to do so like a classic Ecchi protag, which badly hurts the overall energy of the plot.

To make matters worse, he ends up basically being quietly abusive to the other 4 wives because of 1 of them. Which again, hurts the overall energy of the plot.

Like everything hurts the plot, its so weird... Like how they went back to the other world, but instead of deepening their bonds or even doing basic training... He literally wastes all his time ignoring the girls and catching up on homework. I'm so confused by so many plot points that the list feels excessive.
