Theme Song MV: "Oarana" by 春猿火 (Harusaruhi)

More information:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-10-26/denno-coil-mitsuo-iso-reveals-extra-terrestrial-boys-and-girls-anime-new-studio-early-2022-debut-/.165621

NGL, this is Mitsuo Iso re-engaging his most famous original work: 2007's Den-nōu Coil in this 6-episode movie (screened in Japan as 2 parts) 15 years later. And like Mushoku Tensei, this is Production +h.'s (founded by Fuminori Honda, ex-Production I.G and Signal M.D. producer) debut work being formed specifically for this 2-part movie.

The E.T Boys & Girls: Taiyo Tsukuba, Mina Misasa and Hiroshi Tanegashima onboard the Anshin space hotel for minors, and Eureka Seven's Kenichi Yoshida's character designs help create this NASA-like atmosphere for kids. Heck, there are references from the greatest A.I. Seven technology that has some foreboding in the naming, much less a dystopian space future where technology is commonplace in space and kids are the first to experience this newfangled experience from winning this Youth Space Experience Campaign from Deegle (which is an obvious nod to Google). Each kid has their own drone to converse together on peer-on-peer fashion (think of it as like Bloetooth or Infrared, but more primitive).

The one outlier is Touya Sagami, the moon-born human whom hates Earthlings. And that a comet is striking the Anshin so evacuation is in full scale, and unfortunately the kids were involved subconsciously leading into dark waters.

Yoshida's designs breathe so much life into the whole setting and tone of the show. Even if these designs are more Honda Takeshi inspired than solely his own style.

Animators did good job with noses. At first characters have noses and second they look nice. I will finish that anime just because of that.

Touya spewing some Char Aznable nazi anti-earther stuff, one of the drones being called Bright...among other things this show loves its Gundam references.

lol Toya watching too much Gundam for sure Earthings vs Spacenoids

his special AI implant may awaken him to become a NewType? lol

but the characters are lively for sure like those from Denno Coil

i wonder if this will go supernatural in the end too like Denno Coil was especially that God was mentioned

A okayish start, 4/5 for me!
That ai fight was very typical and interesting as well, I found the pacing little but slow for a 38 minute episode. Let's see what we have in next 5 episode!!

Really like the look and idea behind this but it was ruined by the agro moon kid and the media maniac who sees everything as media to exploit. Visually really impressive, but it seems like something is missing. Hopefully it will get better from here.
May the Uguu be with you.

Skytuber. Nothing quite screams 2022 sci-fi series like that xD

Pretty fun start. Kinda like Dennou Coil was thrown into a mixer with Mujin Wakusei Survive.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Damn this is quite long so I'm gonna say the fight looks interesting and the supernatural element is very well executed here.

The premise has me hooked, as well as the character designs by Kenichi Yoshida.

Touya is a Zeke in the making. Similar to Mitsuo Iso's previous work, Dennou Coil, hands can be used as phones. Touya's hand has TOR installed!

He has surely read the Contolist Manifesto

On the opposite end of the stance-towards-gravity axis; Kensho Ono's character doing a cardinal sin of space travel. Please avoid nuts and crumby foods in microgravity!

14-year-old Touya, the last person born in space, flips the bird at the Earthers' spacecraft while alluding to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky's quote "Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot remain in the cradle forever."

Konoha's middle initial is in Cyrillic. Moon-born Touya has to undergo therapy as he's not used to the same level of gravity that Earthers are. The situation kind of reminds me of Nono the Lunarian from Planetes.

No wonder the boy is going full-Zeon.

It seems that the space hotel has different floors for Earth, Mars, and Moon-strength gravity. "Nasa Houston", what a befitting name. Is this the dreaded Kessler Syndrome?

Disrupting the construction of large space-related projects rings a bell... and it was done by the same "John Doe" pseudonym Touya mentioned at the beginning of the episode. Really got your priorities sorted there, Mina.

Touya refers to himself as the last kid born on the moon, not space. Konoha (who I suspect is a Martian) looks younger than him, so it could be that the Earthers are misinformed and are unaware of Konoha's existence.

The young fan's over-enthusiasm for meeting his dark web rebel idol lands a spot of trouble. What could be this "Seven Poem" they keep mentioning?

Undercover cop...I mean "ethical hacker"....Taiyou pits his cube against Touya's sphere. So far, the combination of 3D and 2D in this anime works, especially for dynamic scenes set in microgravity like this whole sequence.

From a purely visual standpoint, this scene with the pair falling and wall-jumping in microgravity was what I enjoyed the most. Konoha's initial is in Cyrillic because she's named after the famous Байқоңыр/Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

A cliffhanger...kind of. Well, episode 1 has got me hooked and met my expectations.

Kenichi Yoshida's designs stand out. Very dense throughout the entire episode even feeling overwhelming in the beginning and ends with a cliffhanger. The visuals are decent enough but definitely not up to movie standards when you consider who the director is. 4/5
