According to the the official website, Kurumada-sensei is focusing on one of his earliest works, Otokozaka, to its final conclusion.

Hence it is unknow when Kurumada-sensei will come back to the last 8 chapters of Next Dimension.

Damn, so the rumors I read were quite accurate... They mentioned that the final manga season of Next Dimension might appear in late 2023 or someday in 2024, to commemorate 50th anniversary of Kurumada-sensei's career as a mangaka. Welp, it can't be helped.

From what I gathered, Otokozaka was cancelled a long time ago, before completion, and was Kurumada's favourite work, so he is taking this opportunity of someone with such a long career to "finish" a story he always intended to tell, but couldn't.

(Apologies for the late response. I remembering reading your post shortly after you replied to mine, but I must've forgotten to reply, haha)

Yes, that's what I heard as well. Otokozaka has always been special to Kurumada-sensei (which he also expressed directly with word: "I became a manga creator to draw this manga"). That's why, even though it was canceled years ago, he wanted to wrap it up. I think the last chapter before it got canceled, so years before its return in 2019, had a line teasing that perhaps one day the story will be continued. I can't verify it myself, though. I have neither read this manga nor been interested in it.

Anyway, since the final bit of Otokozaka's story has been finished (according to the information from AnimeNewsNetwork, it ended on 11th November 2023), I think it's safe to think that Kurumada can now fully focuse on working on Saint Seiya, be it Next Dimension or both Next Dimension and its sequel (aka Zeus arc). That's what I want to believe in, anyway, haha.

Also, I guess it deserves a separate post: according to the information posted by MangaMoguraRE on X (formerly Twitter), the final manga season of Saint Seiya: Next Dimension, consisting of eight chapters, will start releasing weekly on this year's summer.

@Adnash Yeah! And alongside the return of ND, Champion Red, which MangaMoguraRE had an early access for the January issue, said we will get "some surprising and important announcements". Do you have any expectations? I would say we will get an official announcement of the next manga, less likely would be an anime release for ND and even less likely would be a 3rd season of Lost Canvas, I think Shiori Teshirogi deserves it and Kurumada also wins with LC getting a 3rd season, but as I said, It is very unlikely to happen.

@curvedtree I think it won't be anything as big as we'd like it to be. I've learned in the past to not put my expectations too high after seeing information about such announcements when it comes to manga. But who knows? Maybe it will be indeed something actually surprising and important.

I think the most positive scenario would be to have an anime announcement, preferably Next Dimension animated series. The manga is about to end, so it's the best and, to be frank, last moment to at least announce its anime adaptation. I'm saying "last", because I doubt that anime released years after the final volume would succeed in boosting the source material's sales. Especially when we are not talking with rather new and somewhat viral series.

I doubt there will be The Lost Canvas Season 3 announced. It'd be nice to be surprised in such way, but yeah, like you said, it's very unlikely to actually happen. Low sales of Seasons 1-2 OVAs years ago is one thing, but priorities is another aspect. There is the main series waiting for its own animated adaptation, so it has priority over spin-offs.

In my opinion, the announcement will be nothing else than official and solemn announcement of the sequel manga, aka Zeus arc. We've been already teased about it in the last months, so I'd rather count on that rather than on any anime (at least any anime except Next Dimension one).

Many of my friends with whom I discussed it pretty much had the same thoughts about it. I had in mind an exhibition of some sort, related to Masami Kurumada's works, to commemorate his 50th anniversary of being a mangaka. However, my friend told me that no huge exhibition like that had been planned to be organized in Japan, and that the announcement will be specifically dedicated to Saint Seiya and only Saint Seiya.

We will find out soon what the announcement will really be about. The most surprising, unexpected, mindblowing even thing to me would be hearing about... Episode G adaptation being in development, just with art style resembling more the classic Saint Seiya anime than the one known from Ep. G manga, haha.

I guess many already heard the news, but it's worth sharing anyway. Saint Seiya: Next Dimension will resume on 16th May 2024.

@curvedtree You're welcome! There have already been two new chapters released since 16th May 2024. The story is emanating with the climax atmosphere, haha.
