Meh, a rather mediocre anime through and through. The humor was not funny to me, and the plot and characters were lackluster at best. I regret picking this anime up.

But now that I picked it up I will finish it, but just like you said, not being able to connect to the comedy or characters, this feels just soo dumb to watch.., Maybe my opinion will improve when I reach this last episode, but I dont understand what others are seeing on this. |

| I liked this anime a bit more in the second part, when the focus was less on conquering BS and more on Renge, but then the show dropped the ball, focusing on it again. In the end, I just cant take this show serious at all, you are not supposed to, but if you dont even like the characters... I though these final 3 episodes would be the saving grace but then the villain revails itself and no fucks are given, it is just absurd what happens. His father is ready to kill him, no fucks given, then powers up with smoke (?!?!), and all those White Light "heroes" now turned in bad doers not even realizing what the fuck they are doing that is WRONG. And you can't forget Miki, what a bitch she turned out to be, no explanation whatever for her behavior, she might be the character that most disappointed me on this show, since I was getting interest on her part on all of this. I might have enjoyed this show more if I was a kid, or if I was in for some absurd comedy, but it just did not land, and it doesn't help I don't care about Kate and her delusional crap. If Renge was the heroine and Asuta had chosen her in the end, if the whole show was more focused on their relationship, this would have been a way more enjoyable show. Checking the staff and who came with this script I'm baffled that they failed this much (how did they think this was a decent story and script?!), then again, I have myself to blame, I read the synopsis and thought this would be more fun, and if I was able to like the characters (outside Renge), this would have been certainly at least a decent watch, but when I m seeing the final episode, Kate's getting OWNEDs and rejoicing on that, thinking serves you right... something is wrong when you reach that point. Also, the outfits are retarded, overall a very poor execution of the concept and it doesn't help when I already don't like Chuunibyo's shit, if only this show had turned into a more cliche love story for Renge and Asuta, a lot more would have been salvaged. I much more enjoy anime isekai full of tropes and braindead characters than this. 4.8/10 = 4 |
