This is certainly shaping up to be interesting... Not sure how I feel about the transformation just being the same one reused from Gogo. I would have liked it if they at least redrew it in Nozomis adult outfit but ah well. The action was great however and gives me high hopes for the future *wink*.

I fell a little disturbed that Precure were drinking alcohol... especially beer.

You are to old to be Precure, we need to make you a child again XD.

Make an adult targeted Precure animation. But need to make everyone drinking alcohol. Meaning that the production thinks that being alcoholic is to be adult. Such close-minded take. I guess people that don't drink doesn't exist.

If a baby need to get older to be a precure, an adult need to get younger.

Oooooh. So they de-age in order to transform. I... don't hate this. In fact, I kinda like it. Honestly, while I get people's desire to see their adult Cure forms, I like this both thematically and diegetically. I like that they're literally tapping into their childhood optimism and positivity in order to face the challenges of adulthood in a "keeping your inner child alive" kinda way - something that Toei/Bandai obviously wants to promote.

In terms of lore, I haven't seen every single Precure series, but this is in line with how Kaoruko also has to de-age to 17 when she transforms into Cure Flower. I mean, we even have a Cure who ages up into a teen when transforming, so there might even be a default age for one's Cure form. While there are some criticisms that can be made about how they're implying that all Precure must be physically young (and pretty), it does mean that you can still be a Precure no matter what age or physical condition you are.

Well, so they go back to being younger before transforming, not even getting younger while transforming, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

@KanameYuuki the funny thing about cure dream transformation is her outfit is the GOGO outfit while the pose she did at the end is from yes 5

@BlichoBoy

Alcohol is a huge part of Japanese culture, nothing too concerning here.

My biggest issue is that Toei most likely has some executive meddling going on and didn't deliver entirely what the fans wanted, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of fans wanted adult Precure forms not the teenage forms of the original. Talking about missing out on some unique scenerios as a result of the decision.

Mixed feelings…. The episode was great, but seriously they simply recycled Nozomi’s transformation and attack from the original… Also, why not stay adult and transform anyway? I know it’s not Nanoha StrikerS, but still…

I was so happy there'd be a magical girl show with adults... And they end up changing them to kids in order to transform. This really made me lose interest in the show.

I would be interesting if they power up later and gain adult forms even as magical girls. Their Precure forms should mature with them. I don't think it's gonna happen, but that's what I would like to see from here on.

I dunno you shouldn't expect too much.
From the first episode this was already expected and the precure premie still keep the same.
It is kind of too bad with adult form but I also like this kind of nostalgic feeling with transformation.

They struggling throught life as an adult and find they old self back .

Now I’m not a big Precure fan or anything (have only finished Hug tto), but the premise of mature Precure seemed interesting. But with the way this is going, it seems it will simply adhere to the exact same formula as every other franchise entry with the adult cast being reduced to a gimmick. I was expecting something along the lines of the girls becoming the mentors of the next generation of Precure, or even it just being simple fanservice of where their lives and dreams have gone since the original series. But having them reverse their age to transform again just screams the question: what’s the point of the cast being adults now? They might as well make a direct sequel of the previous anime with them still being young and continue from there. Maybe my assumption of what this was going to be was wrong, but it seems terribly underutilized.

Yuu Yoshiyama scene was good that about it.

I'm not surprised at all about the de-aging, wasn't expecting them to make new henshin sequences in this anyways.

Things are getting action packed! While still uncovering what makes the original PreCure 5 unhappy in their adult work life, Nozomi gains her powers once again with a spectacularly animated first battle as the old Cure Dream.
Felt like I was 10 again watching 5 for the first time, loved the series so far but I'm not a fan of the idea of the girls being reverted back to their 14 year old selves for the transformation, I much would have prefered a new revamped design for the now adult Cures.
Still, a very nice episode with an extremely cool fight.

>The episode got more childish than even Delicious Party Precure.
>The "Mature" themes of this anime are incredibly childish and unecessary even for an Precure anime for adults.
>The cast from Yes! Precure 5 GoGo have even worse character development here than the previous two season 15 years prior, especially Milk, who's getting me on my nerves by now.
>Nozomi suddendly turns into a teenager by the power of some fucking flower just so she can turn into a Precure instead of becoming an adult Precure? FUCKING REALLY, TOEI!?!?

I'm literally two episodes in and already this anime is shaping on becoming one of the worst Precure anime series ever. Or hell! Maybe this could be even worse than Delicious Party Precure because of how lame and childish this sounds. And it's a Josei anime for adults, for christ's sake! You'd think that TOEI Animation would redeem itself after the atrocity that was DPP now that they are getting some help from Studio Deen. But nope! They can't even get an Josei anime right!

Glad to see more people here are questioning what exactly makes this series "adult"... I agree that it is not a Josei at all.

Drinking beer but keeping the same screaming teehee personality is not how you portray an adult character. Granted, I didn't expect the writers to fully change their personalities to show their maturity but the girls have kept the same childlike mannerisms. Ironically enough, they still don't have the charm they used to have in the OG series. I would go so far as to say they've gotten worse.

This episode was a huge disappointment. After the first episode in which we heard "time cannot be stopped, cannot be rewound" literally every 4 minutes, in this one we get some CGI monsters, a few seconds of action and a reused transformation sequence. I can't believe I was excited for this.

I'm hoping it can get better but I doubt it.

@TayPhox agreed. It was literally the Y5/GoGo transformation in 1080p lol

As for the comments on their adult personalities, they're like what? 25ish? Their personalities seem mostly fine in that case

I fear I'll be dropping this one already. The flat out weak writing and the only-mediocre animation were already a bother in episode 1 but I was willing to see where it would go, instead of something interesting it seems that their answer is "nostalgia pandering disguising reused footage'' and throwing away the idea that the magical girls will need to solve their problems without just punching them in the face.

Very poor product, very witless product, hopefully Toei's Maho 2 project coming next year is significantly better.

It supposed to be adult Precures, just like a title says, yet we got some time changing flowers/butterflies and... old transformation. I was counting on new transformations, new outfits, new attacks etc.

I don't know what to make out of this second episode.

Firstly, the weird emphasis on alcohol wronged me out, I get it, you're adults, but you don't have to spend 5 minutes getting your drinks. Also, every girl is struggling with the SAME problem which is "I got my dream job but it's not as smooth and easy as I planned" which is really redundant.

Second, I'm so disappointed she turned back into a teen to transform just to have an excuse to re-use the old stock footage from the original series. I can stretch it and said that thematically it means she holds on her teen ideals even through adulthood but at this point I'm just giving Toei excuses and that's the last thing I want to do when we all know the truth behind it, aka saving on animation.

Which is my third point, that CGI is horrendous, BUT the fight was really nice and it was cool seeing the the old Precure fighting-style again, which was my favorite thing about the early seasons.

Overall it's very disappointed especially after the first episode which I liked so much, but I guess that's my fault for having high expectations. I guess it's easier to fall into fanservice than to develop interesting theme. Unless the rest of the series proves me wrong, which I doubt.

I'm a bit sad that they chose to de-age the girls to be pretty cure. On some level I understand, and I knew it would happen but..... it just gives me the feeling of "They have to return to being kids because adults are boring and can't use magic" come on precure ;-; you were supposed to let me believe

So it followed the idea I was fearing: finding one's inner child/lost hope back in order to get back one's power... Let's see how this is ported to their current life and thoughts.
(The "lack" of new transformation or accessories to sell is not a loss though. Skipping the scenes in later episodes would be even better.)

@BlichoBoy Where did you see the characters "being alcoholic"?
To others with a similar weird reaction: as for "after work gatherings" with alcohol: since they're now grown-ups, it would be weird to not see them observe the typical rituals of japanese adults. I never liked alcohol and won't even drink a drop of it but there's nothing wrong in seeing that kind of events when they're relatively common there.

really don't know what in the heck they were thinking with the CGI monsters
other than that, pretty darn good ep. thoroughly enjoyed the bar scene and the music, and that music when Nozomi reawakened to the Precure was gooooooooooooood
man really wish they would have made new henshin animations though, sad!
