Thought they will delve in deeper in to Ernie's insanity over the mechs in spite of the danger. I felt like that would be a good point for some characterization. but they ignored it... Why did that bring up some hope...
At least I am excited for next week's battle. They got mech cavalry now!
And not sure what made him think rockets on limbs and stuff will be practical.

Extremely boring episode.

Ernesti is annoying as usual. Can't stand him.

I was really excited for this show after last week, but this episode just crushed that.

Thinking about dropping this show... if it weren't for the giant robots, I probably would have dropped it a long time ago.

Nice to see the new designs. They're slowly but surely turning into modern day mechas. I really hope we get to see his dream mech in full before the show ends, shown in the opening and pretty fucking bad ass.

Episode 8 or 9 should be the ones to feature Ikaruga.
I shall know no fear as I am fear incarnated

Ady is one of the most annoying and cliché character of this season, everytime she's here, all her poses and interactions are so"dumby girly" I want to slap her...

That's crazy how we can hate a character and just don't like the entire show because of it. Some japanese men should just learn how make interesing female characters.

I know it's basically a fanservice show, and shouldn't be taken too seriously, but it's getting pretty hard to watch with all the "genius" kid thing and the rushed pace. That's not to mention the child commander bulshit or that he almost got himself killed withoht anyone noticing he got a fucking SK out of town. Just when i thought the show was starting to be solid, there comes episode 1 issues again.

It's a light novel adaptation, one of the lowest tiers in Japanese writing and only a small step above web novels. You say you didn't expect anything serious, but it seems clear to me that you still haven't adjusted your expectations low enough.

The improvements weren't clearly explained this time, seems saving for surprise at the end, but makes the ep feel boring. Like why 2 reactors & 2 seater? How the controls split? How do they fix the previous fast mana drain (lab made their own fix, huh? 'Blame'?).
key dagger is useful tho.
Addy on motorbike simulator seemed fun.

Now that was a weird dream to start the episode with. I think the only thing Addy needs in her life is Erne or maybe a lifelike replica of him. Addy is weak to tickles eh lol. Hmm it seems that the countries best labs are full of ancient fossils that take ages to design and create new mecha. So it seems that the lab isn't quite unified in its intended role eh. The lab must feel threatened that a new knight order has been created by the king that will share their job of creating new mecha's though. Hmm the western nations eh. Since they are behind the frontlines and are at low risk of attack from the beasts what reason would they have for wanting to steal new mechas i wonder. Hmm they seem both worried yet eager to see what Ernie will create now that he commands a new knight order. Ernie's parents reaction to the news that he is now a knight commander was pretty funny. Lol as a knight commander Ernie now has much more access to the resources that he needs. Still a gear that has a miniature magius engine eh an interesting development. This will really improve the work speed of the smiths to be sure. Ernie and the order really are motivated in their determination to develop a new unit that can compete with the lab thats for sure. So option works will be attachments that can be equipped to give units increased abilities eh.

The boss looks like he's having fun scaring the new kids though lol. So the king has given the order permission to use the facilities of the school as their main base eh. Hmm and a new character appears in this arc then eh. So Nora's a member of the order of Azure hawk whose specialty is Espionage eh. Having a spy hunt down enemy spies to protect Erni's new order and its facilities was a good move on the kings part. Wow Addy gets jealous quite easily eh. Still its surprising how far she will go to maintain the distance between her and Ernie though. Wow i guess this time Ernie really underestimated the force that those engines would add to the suit. Man i can't believe this time he managed to wreck a brand new suit though. Still its nice that Addy and the others managed to snap him out of his development phase of his though. Given the fact that Ernie was knocked unconscious this time after wrecking the suit its understandable that Addy will be upset. He's just too focused on making new things and risking his life to do so while disregarding the worries that others gave for him. So a two seater mecha is the new invention eh. Hmm using a dagger as both a weapon and a activation key eh smart. Ernie really learned from the fort incident eh. The old man really is trying to get fame isn't he. Hmm that was quite the entrance from Erni's team though. So the two manned mecha was the one dragging the carriage eh. Looking forward to see the contest next episode though.

well, this despite looking dull is a very interesting episode that explains lots of things in 5 minutes. first off is made clear that the country of Fremenia is the only one fighting monsters and that is why other countries do not attack it and probably even pay tribute to it. Second we see that except for a few Silouhette Knights they have no real army. So if the monster danger goes away or other countries can fight the monsters too fremenia is fcked. The other countries do not seem to like it too much and will destroy it if that happens. This makes you wonder two things:
1. if the evolution of the robots went so slow so that the monsters will never be wiped out just kept at bay
2. if the monsters were not directly created by people that lead Fremenia in secret

Another interesting thing is the fact that all the robots before the kid came into the picture where developed based on human knights. This suggests initially they were used to fight other similar robots exclusively. They are not optimized to fight beasts but to fight humanoid enemies. Just look at the weapons, almost totally useless against monsters. So I smell something rotten in the country.

well, is quite easy. The model is based on a centaur. So one person would control the legs while the other the arms basically.

The lab fixed the previous lama drain by making the robot much lighter . They removed some of the armor and some of the muscle. They even explain this. Because the robots use their muscles more efficiently they do not need so much muscles. Basically as total strength the lab robots can produce less power but still more than the previous models they made and because of increased efficiency they can make the robot more agile so to speak. Remember in the first episodes the red robot crashed after moving too fast? That will not happen with the new robot developed by the lab.

The key dagger is useful but is a key very easy to replicate. This makes it a bad key. The key should be as hard to replicate as possible. But the dagger key is a start.

This is one of the best shows out. Sure the could have put in more of a story from the manga but I like it regardless. It's only half way through yet I am looking forward to a few more seasons of this anime.

Pretty sure the matching glyphs make it a little hard to replicate the key unless you have studied the original key.

Based on what is known making a wax imprint would also copy the glyphs so not that hard.

Honestly my biggest gripes with this series are the random cuts to 3rd person narrator and the ludicrously fast pacing. They had decent source material to work with, but it seems they went out of their way to make the adaptation terrible.

I agree with you there, the ever-present, omniscient narrator is real annoying. Television/anime is a visual medium and should follow the rule of "show don't tell". The narration is always about stuff the audience could figure out on their own, or at the very least would better glean from dialogue. It feels a bit like the show either has no faith in the viewers intellect or is just being lazy with its exposition.

Also, "Ernie is Ernie"... is that a reference to "Baka and Test"? The old "Hideyoshi is Hideyoshi" joke about traps? Or is it just a more general reference to traps in all of anime?

i just enjoy nerd-ing out seeing all these meches being made, rare case i'm okay with Meches being the ones that are op since everyone's reactions are great to all these rapid advancements in the tech behind them.

Pacing is very fast but kind of work at the same time. It might deter even more viewers if they decide to slow down.

Somehow my eyes are shining like the King when I see the new mech prototype!

Love seeing the new developments! The Silver Phoenix entrance has such an impact that the king looks excited while the old geezer from the lab "probably" is about to die from shock as his supposed "state-of-the-art" upgrade from Telestale is light years away from the bleeding edge innovations introduced by the Silver Phoenix! Only the old Marquis is unsurpised at this point, the look on his face was "not-this-shit-AGAIN!" LOL

I don't really like the SK Lab old fart, but I must acknowledge that he indeed made improvements worthy of mass production. Not everyone can handle a custom mech. Or deserves to, for that matter.
