Damn, that first half was quite something, I didn't expect that sort of tone from the show. We got a handful of intense action scenes from Kudou-san's point of view and the inner battles of Mio-san. Strong words from the alter ego of Mio-san, I suppose it's only natural given her harsh upbringing since her mother's death. Accepting those feelings inside her helped her unlock her full abilities, and all that in lieu of the desire to save her husband, that's a really fitting way to tie up the knot on that part.

We never got to learn much about the villains, though. Why did they want Kudou-san down and out, I wonder. Guess it came down to a power struggle and the futile attempts of the emperor to consolidate his power. Don't know if releasing the leaked souls was the best way to go about it though. Anyway, we got the string of fate reference, so who cares, lol. That's how you know they're meant for each other. And it was nice to see that the apologies and misunderstandings were cleared up with relative ease.

Always glad to get something more after post-credits, and this was right up there too. Mio-san looked really pretty in that dress. No regrets, let's wish them all the happiness ~ But wait, Season 2 announced!

So, initially this would be an easy 8/10 for me, but i must again complain about the supernatural element of the anime.

While the fantasy aspect certainly was an important part of the story, and the characters, i still would like the show more without it. Somehow the whole supernatural felt odd, every time it took focus, it just all felt really cheap, and out of place, like if the author had it all planned and ready, and then the editor was like "add some magic so its more marketable".

I don't know, maybe it would be better if this was just about Miyo rediscovering what it is to be human, and her struggle in a "new, for her unknown life", and that would be enough.

Still 7/10.

Wow. This is how you do a romance story.

With the the power of dream-sight, Miyo might be able to wake up Kiyoka from his coma. She promises to bring Kiyoka home with her, and Miyo gently closes her eyes next to her. In the deep darkness, Kiyoka was fighting against the strange versions of Grotesqueries that appeared one after another, and when he felt Miyo's presence, he became inspired. However, the place where Miyo, who was supposed to have entered Kiyoka's dream, was standing was the Saimori family's mansion. There awiated her biggest hurdle to succumb so far, accept herself. After accepting herself and accepting that she no longer is the person she is from the past, she awakens a strange new power, and heads toward Kiyoka.

Man, the moment when Miyo confronted her own reflection was executed beautifully. Her realization that she was no longer just a humble servant but now the cherished wife of Kiyoka was depicted masterfully. It was heartwarming to witness everyone's tears of joy and enthusiastic cheers as Miyo and Kiyoka emerged from their slumber. The post-credit scene showcasing the eagerly anticipated party that Miyo had been meticulously planning was a delightful touch. She looked absolutely stunning in that dress. Finally, their marriage was officially confirmed. What an incredible finale.

Best romance of the season easily. That OVA in Winter can't come sooner.

We knew it’d something along these lines, Kiyoka fighting some horde of grotesqueries within his dream and while Miyo trying to get a hold of him using her dream sight, she herself succumbing into one of those sessions of her frequent traumas.

The trauma of thinking nobody needs her, the trauma of thinking it isn’t nice enough to concern others with her problems, but.. that was in the past, for all of that time she spent with Kiyoka and others throughout this season, she has grown past that phase and has become an able person who now knows whom she needs to be with.

Liked how she countered her subconscious self first and foremost, and then proceeded to even save Kiyoka from all that trouble… in a miko outfit. Though again superpowers lol, just a slash of hand from Miyo and it was already over. She’s OP, we know but don’t make it a point lol. A kind of sweet hug, and the couple is through all those misunderstandings.

Not sure how and what the Emperor was supposed to do in this story, but okay, the kind of “Happy Marriage” we were promised, we might not have gotten that, but at last Miyo and Kiyoka became all closer. Goodbye glasses, and I pray we may not see you again.

We did get the promised party though, only a bit… the western style. And of course, Miyo looked good in her dress.

Series was good on its own, though these last couple of episodes with Usubas and pseudo sympathetic speeches didn’t do much for me quite honestly. Rest was good enough, though it’ll take some time to get used to this supernatural stuff lol.

There’s already an OVA coming sometime next year, and then we might see a second season too, I guess.. It's already coming, season 2.

“But I believe I can change… I’ve decided not to give up anymore”

Very fitting that Miyo has to confront the physical manifestation of her fears, doubts and insecurities within the dream world. The whole point of this season has been Miyo moving past all the pain of her past and accepting that she deserved happiness. No one’s worth is determined by a supernatural ability

The scene of Miyo grabbing the thorns, literally accepting all the hurt of her inner self and making the dark version of herself disappear was so well done and poignant. All of that pain and suffering is integral to who she is today. But it doesn’t have to define her.

Unlike, the beginning of the season it’s now a very confident and powerful Miyo coming to save Kiyoka. Even the emperor’s meddling wasn’t enough to stop Miyo. I doubt this’ll be the last we see of people coming after Miyo because of her abilities, but one thing is for sure, she and Kiyoka’s bond will be ready for it.

“Although it was my job to protect you, you saved me” “I want to be beside you”

Both Kiyoka and Miyo voicing how they felt and apologising for the misunderstanding was so sweet. The thing I like most about this story is how their relationship is handled so naturally. Yea, there’s magical abilities in this world, but fears and concerns they both have feel so real and they talk them through like normal people. Love is patient, love is kind. We see that on full display in all of their scenes.

You can already see how much more expressive Miyo is in those last few scenes with Arata and then Kiyo. Speaking her mind without fear and even her facial expressions have much more dynamism to them. While Kiyoka’s love and patience was massive, it was ultimately Miyo who had to confront her metaphorical demons in that dream world and overcome them. Again, this is one of my fave representations of PTSD and abuse in anime. Very realistic and well done. Amazing story, beautiful visuals. And a season 2 announcement, we’re eating good.

The post credits scene 😩Miyo looked absolutely stunning.“I know how troublesome I can be but will you marry me?” Man these two deserve all the happiness in the world.

Onto the LN.

This was impressive. Not only was Miyo able to use her powers but she's also grown to a person who can look after herself.

The finale had her and Kiyoka fighting together. They were able to overcome their obstacle and showed their strong connection in the end. And we finally get the two walking in peace together as a couple. It's a type of happy ending this season deserved.

That sure is a unique dreamland that Kiyoka ended in. Who would think the power to enter dreams would come in such dramatic a fashion. Miyo being able to confront her past self was a nice touch and a great way to show how much she had grown. Miyo's miko form though was pretty nice. And the battle against the evil emperor was a great way to deal with that scumbag. With this i hope that Miyo and Kiyoka would enjoy a long life and a happy marriage that would last many years and enjoy the peace they fought hard to achieve. Miyo looked gorgeus in that dress.

To save Kiyoka, Miyo would use her Dream-Sight to pull him out of the darkness of endlessly fighting against Grotesqueries and her treading through the old Saimori house to see the memories of people and even the dream sequence of herself, being full of hatred and the old, tormented life. But the current Miyo is done playing the victim, and she wants to be Kiyoka's light, which she finds him and unleashes her powers to bring him home, back to reality.

Against the Emperor who utilizes his sorcery powers to stop Miyo at all costs, she asks that Kiyoka trusts him while she uses her Dream-Sight to deflect his evil powers away. With the scenery purified, Miyo asks that she be entrusted to him with her life, and with everyone calling them back to reality, they're really back, safe and sound. Arata's job is done, and both Miyo and Kiyoka can finally have a life of peace.

There may be a lot for Miyo to learn, but her happiness story with Kiyoka starts here.

Quite the technical show, a Cinderella story of the immaculate kind. With Season 2 on the way, Miyo's life is about to be a lot more vibrant than ever.

Miyo finally confronted herself and broke out of her shell. The whole conversation felt kind of dragged out but whatever. She saved Kiyoka and finally told the truth. Good to see the two of them back together. Post credit scene was nice. Miyo looked pretty in dress, though I prefer her in Yukata. They looked cute together.

I had pretty high expectations going in with this one and it started off pretty good but gradually got annoying and became boring in the second half with the bland drama but there were some nice stuff here and there and most importantly it was nice seeing Miyo grow as a character. The supernatural/superpower was probably the weakest part of the show followed by the drama. I mostly enjoyed the character interactions and the sweet moments between the main couple. Seems like their happy marriage will finally begin following the end of s1 and hoping to see some sweet stuff next season but I'm quite sure we'll get more drama instead. Atleast hoping that it'll be better.

Btw the production of this anime was really good. Animation/visuals were real pretty with good osts and both OP/ED were good. Props to Kinema Citrus for the good adaptation.

Miyo's dialogue with herself was really good. Happy to see her being confident.
10:02 These are Miko clothes I think?
10:40 Kumihimo (組み紐) is a traditional Japanese artform of making braids and cords.
Really cool to see the female main character saving the male main character.
I love Godo lol. And Arata is cool actually.
Fyodo- I mean the prince seems like a really interesting character. Will he become the emperor (Mikado) now that the current one lost his power?
The scene after credits is so wholesome.
A very well-made episode.

This was a beautiful anime, both story and production. And the was a lot of drama, but I liked it.
But ngl I liked the first half more. First it was a 9, then I wanted to give it an 8, but now I feel like it's a 9. Sometimes I think my ratings are really lousy.
9/10

Miyo was infuriating with her excessively softspoken, timid personality, and the guy was pretty much nothing more than the stereotypical biseinen love interest you see in shoujo titles. Objectively speaking it was probably a good anime, but personally I was bored to death, even annoyed at times. Will not watch the second season.

Art is very good, animations are good, voice acting is very good, miyo va is perfect. Story is decent and the drama is good. 7/10

Miyo uses her powers to bring back Kiyoka. I knew it. Bloody emperor is evil. He wants Kiyoka dead. That’s why he wanted to separate Miyo from him. But the prince was good enough to warn Kiyoka earlier in the episodes. Damn, the prince has eyeshadow and lipstick 😅. His voice actor — Ishida Akira, a guy who voices the evil characters I know.

Arata left on good terms, so I guess I don’t hate him as much as I used to.

Miyo got a glam up at the end. Regardless of the dress and her hairstyle, her eyes and face seemed to be glowing. Especially with the smile.

The finale was definitely my favourite episode of the second half, with Miyo and Kiyoka's inner battles, which served as good development. A lot of wholesome scenes after the fight ended as well. I wish we did get to see more depth from the villains other than a simple power hungry motive, but it is what it is. Hopefully the next season has a better balance between the themes. That said, this was one of the consistently best looking shows of the season, and the first half was very solid. Looking forward to more!

Must admit the whole supernatural angle and the emperor's beef against Kudo felt a bit odd in the overall story. It was never really developed properly. In that sense I got more enjoyment out of it when it was purely a romance/cinderella type of story

I felt the ending of the season felt a bit rushed, and the villain was almost completely not extablished, so him dying like that with almost no setup was weird. I also wished we got to see Miyo using her powers a bit more before being so strong on her first try. Overall really great, I think the end part subtracted a point from 9 to 8 for me. Also the feminine prince is pretty and seems nice, I really hope miyo and kudo get married soon and the second season will be more of them working together settling out the consequences of season 1

This title could've been so much better, but never wasn't. Thank god it's over. It was an ok ending after the previous shit show. It had so much emotions and potential just to loose it all half way. I haven't and obviously wouldn't read the source (if there's any), but I hope that it was better there. Feels like they've cut something out and just left bare bone of the plot and told it the most boring way possible. Kudo's fight was a single interesting moment after they've burned her family to a crisp.
So I'm just glad it's over and they don't make it even worse. Should've stopped somewhere halfway or even just make a movie. I have no idea how this title got 8.24 rating. Arguably most bullshit numbers I saw on the title in almost 10 years here. It was a solid 9 before, but the plot after burning down her family's land makes it 7-6 tops.

lol old man jenkins really took matters into his own hands and actually be there to pull off his shippuden amazing naruto jutsus and weeb'd his way to make the uglies more powerful or whatever tf was going on with this whole plot

I love it that Miyo appearing to Kiyoka as she was like I'm coming to take you home is like man, she's like a knight in shining armour I can't 😭

And Miyo's final move as she's all like Be gone!, she really be giving the same energy as Begone thot like wow, Miyo's such a queen along with her sailor moon priestess transformation like yasssssss queeeeen slayyyyyyyy you go gurlllllllll 😍🥰🤯🤮🤩💅✨✨

I feel like it woulda been a good point to just end it here, this ending is satisfying in itself that wraps everything but for some reason we're getting a season 2 too, I honestly have no idea how they can add to this story but knowing there's a season 2 I am scared about new insufferable characters appearing because this is the kinda show that could easily include such people so I hope there's nothing too grating and making me wanna punch the screen-inducing characters appearing next season
But hopefully we get to see Kaya and Kouji again, they felt so important at the start but then when the plot thickened, their appearances weren't needed anymore after they transferred elsewhere lol but I hope Kaya changed for the better and her mum gets punishment through karma

I was very impressed with Miyo in this final episode. She was able to face down her dream sequence version of herself, all full of despair, and was able to deal with that issue. After that, she finally reached Kiyoka, who was fighting for his life against an endless hoard of Grotesqueries, and helped him clear the enemies quickly.

Unsurprisingly, the old emperor himself went to intervene, but even he was unable to handle how strong Miyo and Kiyoka were together and were able to take him down. With that, the pair had a nice moment together before they both woke up in the real world once again.

The post credits scene was really sweet, as we see Kiyoka and Miyo together had the formal event that Miyo was practicing hard for with Hazuki. Miyo's dress looks amazing on her, I must say! =)

Overall, I've really enjoyed this series. The story was good, the characters were mostly satisfying to watch and the production quality of the series as a whole was very impressive.

I think I'll settle for an 8/10 as my final score. I look forward to watching the upcoming OVA and 2nd season in the future. =D

I'm so glad there will be a second season! Even though it was quite a satisfying ending already.

I wasn't really a fan of monster things among the romance, but oh well. The romance part was still excellent! Maybe they'll delve more into political intrigue later on, and it could be interesting. I also hope for more exploration of happy marriage now that they both finally seem on the same page.

It was a fine show for what it was. I feel like the proper resolution is missing however. Miyo facing down her own trauma is all well and good. The half-assed villain plot was whatever. But the true 'villain' of the story is how everyone treats Miyo as an object. That works for the first part of the story where her family is obviously evil, almost to a cartoony level. But even after, Miyo is still being treated as an object by the Usaba family, and to some degree even by Kiyoka. Them fighting over who gets to keep her made me think of Jasmine's "I'm not a prize to be won".

All in all, it was entertaining. I just wish Miyo had any agency at all in her own story, outside of the last episode.

My love for it fell off quite a bit as it went on; perhaps I preferred the simpler times before the supernatural stuff really started to come into play. I'm sure most didn't mind it and instead thought it offered a cool spin on the whole story, but I thought it was a little wack and out of place for this setting and tone. Nonetheless, still a good watch, did get me in the feels a handful of times. Also I really appreciate the after credits scene in which they show a bit of that party which Miyo was supposed to go to all this time, and showing her and Kudo renewing their vows to each other to marry. It's a great way to end the season, and is satisfactory enough even if there never were to be a 2nd season. The wholesome relationship between these two which makes you cry a little inside with pure joy is the core of what holds the whole show together, and makes the experience very much worthwhile.

6.3/10
