A lot of people are also critiquing the slow pacing for some reason? I actually adore it a lot. A slow-burn pace that slowly builds up the relationships between the characters and allows the audience to fully soak in the world around them is so delicious. Chef's kiss, if you will. Like, I would argue that the main criticism I have for this episode other than the shitty scene at the end where Ranta pervs it up on those two innocent little girls is the fact that the Goblin slaying scene had clunky pacing. I mean, it went from happiness to a sudden dramatic shift where all of a sudden Ranta begins slaughtering this poor creature. All because the goblin nicked him on the leg. I'd even say that the scene itself could've been handled with more care. What if Ranta got hurt even more? Like, the goblin stabbed him really bad. It would've given him more motive for why he absolutely decimated the goblin, and then if plot armor is the problem, Manato could've just healed him and everything would've been fine.

Another criticism I've noticed is the fact everyone seems to be happy after that traumatic experience. No, they're coping. Yume and the purple haired bitch were shopping and hanging together, Ranta was eating and sulking alone by himself--which is pretty normal, and the main character took a walk to observe the town. It was the perfect mix of character development and world-building. I'm surprised it got so much shit.

Overall, a great episode. Like, it has minor flaws and the ending was pretty unnecessary, but it was good.

Oh, and before anyone critiques the fact that Ranta bounced back pretty quick, his reaction to it is pretty normal. A lot of people tend to use friends and their surrounding environments as a distraction and even I have found great comfort in continuing to be my bubbly, energetic self if it meant making others happy and distracting me from the trauma.

Yo this was actually nice. Normally I'd prefer to not watch a slow-paced anime, but I believe this one did it right. The montage in the middle with the music, just felt nice and atmospheric. I'm down to watch this more slow-burn of an anime, something therapeutic and REAL about it. Hopefully it maintains this sort of aura and doesn't trip and fall on its face in later episodes.

other than the ridiculous usage of the insert song, good episode. did A-1 run out of budget for the seiyuu for this episode?

but maybe it wasn't kill or be killed..they just needed to say that to get through... or maybe it was cuz they will starve to death if they don't earn money...either way this whole thing of not having much option to choose is fkedup ain't it

Exciting episode
The goblin battle was pretty intense (as expected), but it was nice to see the group enjoy their earnings, even if it wasn't much

The fanservice is still strong .. Like every time that mage girl (Shihoru?) talks, her chest bounces..

that kind of super long insert doesn't really have the impact in episode 2 of an anime. really oddly placed and far too long. at this rate by the end of the cour they'll kill a whole TWO goblins. wew.

A very interesting and strange developement. The contrast of a brutal killing to the beauties of life is not what i expected but i was very pleased. Im excited to see what this show does as it seems as its gonna ask you educated questions and still have the weird things that make anime anime.

weird how they spent most of the episode on a song. I also have a feeling that Manta guy is stealing their coins. Let me see when I progress on this and see if im right

There's that one series about a guy and his crew slaying goblins effortlessly and then we've this... our team of six fought tooth and nail just to take one meager goblin down. Quite honestly first ever isekai I've see where they're trying to show any bit of realism involving fights.. with a sense of struggle that is.

Slow paced but I'm fine it. Also from my understanding that insert song was just their way to give us viewpoints of our characters after their first EVER kill coming to this world.. though agree it was a tad long lol.

I'm loving the slowburn but Ranta is murdering these series for me.

I swear, if this keeps up then I'll probably end up dropping it in an episode or two

I'll also immediately rate it a 10 if Ranta dies.

In an episode 2 you can only allow yourself to make that succession of images if it serves a purpose. I liked the fight with the goblin. It's still very sad that they still can't face one but I like that they are improving little by little and that the anime is quite realistic, that it seems like there are no abilities that they may have.

The story is quite realistic when it come the aspect of fighting and character interaction. I love that the monsters are actual creatures and people actually feel them.

What was with the insert song over some random montage of very casual and inconsequential scenes? Seems out of place.

Strange that none of them seemingly give a damn about killing some goblin minding its own business either, since this series is otherwise evidently approaching its character psychology with a sort of theatrical realism-based approach you sometimes see in isekai scenarios. If the goblins are sentient—which seems very likely—then you would think there would be more apprehension from the less enthusiastic members of the party about the prospect of attacking someone unprovoked like that. Was it even established goblins were a universally hostile species beforehand? If so, I can't recall such a detail.
