We turn our attention to Fezzan where they continue in playing both sides in supporting the Empire and the Alliance, but it seems they have set their sights on the Empire in hopes that they would become the future rulers of the galaxy while the Alliance continues to be on the decline. Meanwhile back on Odin, Reinhard didn't take the news of loosing the Iserlorn Corridor very well and was considering executing Muller, but he decided to spare him and let him recover from his injuries. Schaft was accused of leaking information to Fezzan and was arrested. There seems to be tension brewing in the Empire as one of Reinhard's subordinates in not satisfied with the new leadership within the Empire.

On the Iserlohn Fortress, Yang and Julian have an honest conversation about Julian's future in the military. As Yang reminds him that things don't always goes as they planned and that the power of the Pen is mightier than the sword in any human conflict.

i remember some people were hoping for Rubinski to get involved in the war in a more direct way, i think those guys are gonna like this season
im actually interested on what Hilde plans to do about best boy Oberstein, like really what can you do? you are completelly outclassed here, even Reinhards admirals fear him
unlike the OVA Yangs cat got no screentime

Reuenthal keeps showing desire to chalenge Reinhard, if only Kircheis was here

Basically after battle episode.

Lady Mariendorf will start to make her move soon. And Reuenthal teasing~~

I have to say... Oh boy Kesler have that big daddy energy in this Remake design 🥵

Also I don't know if this is canon in the novels, are we going get that episodes of Julian watching historical porn while traveling lol

This episode was slower paced but lots of information to ponder. Especially Looking forward to see what Reuenthal will decide.

damn will Reuenthal fight Reinhard since Reinhard only see them as pawns now

but Oberstein loves this kind of Reinhard though but Hilde plans to change that

its funny that both Fezzan the capitalists and Reinhard believes in meritocracy so their successor will be chosen by capability rather than nepotism

meanwhile Yang when recruiting people

Another great episode.

Mostly dialogue, as it's the aftermath of the battle, but it's very nice to see after many action-packed episodes.

At first I thought that Hana Kana was a bad fit as Hildegard von Mariendorf, but she's done a superb job here. Japanese voice actors have such crazy ranges.

What I liked the most out of Reuenthal and Mittermeyer's conversation was Mittermeyer's little reflection afterwards, "Am I just simple-minded?". It highlights just how different their aspirations and mindsets are as individuals, yet despite that they make a great team on the battlefield and are very good friends. I'm a sucker for these "yin & yang" seemingly mismatched type of friendships in anime, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how this version continues with their story.

After such a battle it's good to have a laid-back, dialogue heavy episode.
I don't remember the Hilda thinking about Oberstein scene and the Reuenthal and Mitty conversation on the OVA, did I just forget?

Hilda starting to suspect best boy wasnt in the OVA, i liked that new addition i think the other admirals dont intend to do do anything about him even though they do fear Oberstein
twin stars convo was in the OVA down to Mitt telling Reuenthal that Oberstein might purge him

im just watching one OVA episode after im done watching the latest remake episode, just to compare them, to me the most notable difference thus far is that best boy Oberstein didnt try to save Reinhard during his assasination attempt, understandable change since he shouldnt have enough time to react

finally got to this point of the ova

"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

Nice. This follows up on the previous episode where Yang had the dialogue with Merkatz - and the remark from Merkatz that it would not be democratic to forbid Julian to join the military. (Which was funny - cause Yang is the guy from the democratic country and Merkatz is from the Empire. :D)

Other stuff was nice as well.

I love this episode. It gives a nice update on all sides involved in the story. These recent developments will sure make the story even more interesting and this kind of explains the title of the sequel "intrigue". Oberstein might have managed to change Reinhard in many ways, but that change is starting to raise conflict and possibly a split. So glad to see that Hilde caught up to that and is trying to oppose Obsertein. What I'm really wondering here is whether or not Reuenthal will switch sides. It's become clear that Reinhard only sees the pillars and his subordinates merely as pawns. They don't get promoted alive, but get all kinds of honorary titles after dying. Treated as tools, I wonder which one of these admirals will stay by his side.

Fezzan makes a comeback in this episode. It could be just me, but I think Rupert is after his own father. He has been orchestrating lots of Fezzan's moves and carrying out their schemes, and once they gain the power they're after, I'm almost certain that he'll dispose of his father.

When it comes to Yang... It would have been out of character if he turned Julian away from his request, but I still expected him to fight back more. I hope that by joining the military, Julian and Yang won't be separated. I am personally counting on Julian to protect Yang from his enemies within and outside of the military.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

We’re getting to see more of what’s going on in the Dominion of Fezzan. They seem to be more in support of the empire than the alliance, since the alliance is currently suffering internally.

The guy in the glasses is the leader’s son, which is interesting, but it seems the son might have interior motives. I could feel the tension when they were talking about taking the spot of leader of Fezzan.

Reinhard is extremely mad with the outcome, especially since Kempf lied to him and said they had the upper hand. I’m glad he didn’t punish Müller, it was not his fault since he was following orders as the vice admiral. He’s also a great soldier. The engineer is being punished tho.

“l promised I’ll avenge dad” and the cycle continues.

So Reinhard is against dynasties lol. Also, on of his most loyal subordinates is starting to question Reinhard.

“That’s why I wanted to be a historian” what if…

Reinhard stopping and thinking what Siegfried would say :)

Watching Kempf's family made me tear up, why would he want to die on battlefield leaving his family behind, I'll never understand.

Love how Hilde is worried about Reinhard and cares for him and even is determined to go against Oberstein to do so.
