Well this training camp session episode turned into more of a joint training camp.

Still, it's nice that the cast had their chance to improve and prepare themselves more. Plus, the setting is kinda refreshing. Kyoto Animation did a good job at expressing the feeling of nature imo. And it's nice to get to know Eisuke more in this show.

Seiya being a little shit. The "big guy" a total dork. The two teams having some excellent interactions, mingling almost seamlessly. Nikaido growing up, his fate entwined with Minato and Shuu. Masa-san not able to help being a coach through and through - doesn't seem to want to, either, just coming through with his usual gentle determination.
And such stunningly beautiful sceneries again.

Again, I really love all the interactions with the schools, there's a lot of mutual respect, which is good to see. Finally, we got to see Nikaido's backstory, and it's a tough one, as his uncle was the reason Nikaido pushed himself so hard to learn and master the shamen form of Kyudo. The jealousy seeing Saionji-sensei teaching Minato and Shuu was his push, yet he was also the one that pushed Minato and his team to get better as well, so it all comes full circle, and now Masa-san pushed Nikaido forward as well. Should be a nice match next episode.

Also, I can't help but continue to gush about the sheer beauty KyoAni can create with its animation, excellent depiction of nature's beauty.

KyoAni loves creating PC's wallpapers while making their recent shows I see... for real tho I though it couldn't get more beautiful but they proved me wrong. Seiya is being quite arrogant in this episode but regardless all school members keep having super fun interactions between one and other despite being rivals. Looking forward for what the next competition will be like

I love the dynamic between these two schools. This training arc gave more of an insight on why Nikaidou is the way he is and also a look at the other members of Tsujimine. More than the upcoming nationals, I'm curious as to how this part of the story would develop and if it will ever be resolved.

Would have been great if Nikaidou's uncle would have told his nephew why Saionji-sensei didn't teach him. Classic KyoAni drama based on miscommunication.

Other than that, decent episode overall.

Why didn't she teach him? I think I'm forgetting something

What was supposed to be a nice training camp turned out to become a joint-training camp with Nikaidou and his fellow teammates from Tsujimine High. for the most part, both teams got on really well in terms of practicing Kyudo together as well as when it came to making the delicious-looking fish buffet. It's always satisfying to see the many interactions between both clubs like this.

However, Nikaidou still feels rather distant here, where his call to his uncle doesn't lead to the answer that he wanted to hear. The small flashback showing what got Nikaidou into Kyudo in the first place, along with his uncle's health slowly getting worse, was intriguing, as was how Saionji not offering to teach him at the same time she was teaching both Minato and Shuu led to him wanting revenge even to the present day.

So it felt fitting that he would agree to Masa-San's request for a practice match between both clubs with the national tournament getting very close now. I do look forward to seeing how this match will go hopefully with Minato's group winning here.

Lastly, I have to praise, for the millionth time, KyoAni's beautiful visuals during this episode, especially with how pretty the night scenery looked and how lovely the water was animated as the quite tide brushed the beach backwards and forwards. =P

Nice training camp since they end up sharing the room between classes, I especially liked getting Nikaido's backstory with his uncle and their whole relationship around archery

(Saionji-sensei mentioned this in Episode 6)
Basically because Nikaidou's uncle wanted to change his shooting style but Saionji-sensei didn't want that to happen. She found his "Shamen" style extremely beautiful and thought it would be a waste to change such perfect shooting style.
So yeah, this is the reason why she rejected him but Nikaidou assumed it was something money-related. That's why he's such a hater of everything that exudes "high class".

Ahh, right! I remember now, thanks!
But yeah, I don't see why Nikaidou's uncle didn't tell him either

Nikaido needs to open up his eyes and broaden his mind; he won't get anywhere with his current mindset of playing kyudo because and for his uncle.

That’s way too much of a coincidence lmao

I kind of felt that Nikaido wanted to avenge his sensei. I wasn’t expecting him to be his uncle, though, and I think she didn’t elaborate clearly. I think she mentioned before that she didn’t teach him because she didn’t want him to stop using his current form.

Oh my gosh, that’s why Shu is very wary of Nikaido, he had met him before.

I’m hoping that they can get a coach eventually, the guys are really fun.
