lmfao. that bark cutter turned out to be a huge fking humongous beam laser, jesus christ. i almost laughed from the absurdity of it all. 7/10. only cared about a few select supporting characters, plot was written poorly, its romance was actually quite terrible... or difficult to buy into. and the messy conclusion was wrapped up with an equally as disheveled bow. it's hard when the main character, from which the show's title is named after, is unremarkable... i'll be watching the movie. polygon pictures, we can still make that work.

Even given that there will eventually be a sequel movie, this really needed that 12th episode. There are so many interesting places and people that we just fly by because of the short runtime.

I get what they were going for with Kaina, but it would have been much more interesting if he could fight a little bit. I mean he should at least be able to defend against giant bugs a little bit. His instinct always seemed to be to lie low and wait for an opportunity. And especially once we come to the climax, I'm just waiting for him to do something cool. The giant laser was, but it also feels like a major ass pull.

Ririha is a cute princess of action. She kills soldiers and goes on quests, so her character is inherently more interesting. But after she's rescued from the cage it really felt like there wasn't anything left for her to do in the story. And it was extremely frustrating that her relationship with Kaina got little to no development after the beginning. We get a hand touch on the raft and 30 seconds in the sauna. Like come on give us a little more. Her little brother got closer to her than he did!

The final battle was cool, but it honestly felt like it dragged on forever. We spent so much time watching characters run around, seeing red herring after red herring, watching the map burn knowing there's an extra one, saving random NPCs we've never heard of, etc. etc.

It made zero sense how Atland was ever supposed to stand a chance in the first place. They got annihilated in every battle before the last one, and it makes sense. How exactly is an archer/gunman on a horse supposed to beat a fully stocked warship? It doesn't help that their own cannoneers and archers can't ever hit their mark unless a dozen people die. They couldn't even hit any of the catapults. It made absolutely no sense why the king was still on the beach once the Developer stormed it. He could already see that all of his soldiers were gone. Who was he commanding? He could've at least picked up a cannon himself. And how did Ririha know how to fire it? All the target switching was terribly convenient.

Maybe it's just me, but I also really wanted to see Amalathee and Orgundo get together. He's no match for her at all, but it's also kind of not fair since her armor is a lightweight super suit. She doesn't really have any better options, and I want to see her with someone. Might as well be a guy she can spar with.

6.5/10

Well, that sure was a (non-)ending.

If you can put up with the cartoon villain, shaky CGI, and generic plot this series has a pretty interesting world to spend some time in. Ultimately reminds me a bit of an inferior Gargantia.

No way this is how it ended. Definitely it´s missing an episode 12 here. It was as if the last chapter of a book was torn off to never be found.

I would have rated this anime 7/10 if I didn´t know there wasn´t a movie as a sequel. So I think I will forgive this episode 12 missing here and rate this anime 8/10. Yes, abrupt endings usually dissapoints me and so reflect in the final score. I think the final scenes (conclusion) are one of the most important parts of an anime; it weighs more.

By the way, I think the art/animation is nice or good enough. Those who are talking bad about it don´t know what they are saying and probably aren´t aware how there are truly bad CGIs out there.

I specially enjoyed the characters, they didn´t dissapoint.

Animação não combinou com o cenário, roteiro mal traduzido na adaptação.

Amazing series. The bark cutter being a GBE was awesome. Also cool that the commandant must've had the net terminal gene. Wonder who the traveler was that taught the Sign Keeper how to read the ancient symbols.

Kaina was a super kind and likeable main character much more like Etherow than Killy or Zouichi. I do like the light era of Nihei Tsutomo works a lot more than others seem too. Really enjoyable series so far.

Liliha and Yoana were also great. No one else really got much characterisation but the sporadic side characters like the captain and the older ones in Kaina's village were cool. This is the first time I've watched an anime based on Nihei's works although I guess as this was an anime project maybe it's not exactly accurate to say that. Still I'm looking forward to the movie and will continue on to the manga afterwards if it's intended to continue publishing. I'm sure Nihei's art will be far superior to the shoddy cgi in the anime for bringing the characters and environment to life.

Kaina just had a fucking pocket wave motion cannon then, damn. Could've pointed it at the Admiral's ship earlier and saved a lot of trouble.

Was initially going to complain about the ridiculousness of the second half of this anime compared to the more deliberate and scenic storytelling of the first half, but I think it leaned into this sort of bombastic action intentionally. After all, many did have an issue with the slower pacing of the early episodes, so this battle gave them the explosions they were looking for.

Decent anime, and I enjoyed it, mainly because of the enchantingly structured beginning. The scenery and worldbuilding was competent throughout, and the characters were tolerable. Fantastic OST that contributed immensely to the more atmospheric scenes too. It did, however, have a lot of silly moments later on, and I felt the low framerate made the animation look worse than it actually was. Hope the movie has a higher framerate.

I enjoyed this series. Not Nihei's most complex work by far but it gets the job done. I love how there are always little tiny overlaps from one of his stories to another. Thank god there are still authors like him who like to do a proper fantasy/sci-fi setting instead of the generic isekais of the week. The world building always leaves me wanting more.

The writing and characterization could have been better tho, but I know that's not really his forte.

looking forward to an eventual sequel.

It was okay. I like the use of 3d animation in anime. It makes the action scenes look fluid. The story is interesting but the setting doesn't really feel post apocalyptic when you have a snowy sea world with water scarcity. As for the characters they were alright. I found Kaina's character to be somewhat boring and poorly written despite him being the main character the show is based around. He just goes with the flow and his bland personality doesn't really stand out compared to other characters. Also after the first few episodes he just feels like a side character for the remainder of the show. The last episode was quite rushed and I feel like there should've been an episode 12. Hopefully the movie sequel can fix some of these things and provide a backstory of how the world ended up this way.

I watched and watched, I didn't see anything about this master, I didn't like it. How can the princess lift that cannon alone, she wouldn't have the strength. I expected more 5/10
