Never thought I’d see this happen. Maybe if it’s popular it starts a trend with other kids IPs.

Wow, does that mean we might see Milky Rose again? Because if so, NICE.

Hopefully it's either

1. More violent with a darker story than Heartcatch.

2. Keep the light tone but add some fanservice, make it a more sexy installment.

This looks like so much fun!

I hope Toei doesn't butcher this because I love Yes! 5 so much.

I haven't watched any new Precure since the Kira Kira one but I'm really happy to see that Toei is making both groundbreaking choices such as having a male precure and an adult magical girl and are going more into showing the lives of cures years later. They started doing this with Princess Precure if I'm correct (well technically with Heartcatch but that was only in the sense that we see a face-hidden Tsubomi sister as a child holding what Tsubomi used to transform into Cure Blossom) and to see them go "We're going to show you how cures from Precure's earlier years are as adults" is awesome, I hope one is done for the OGs Cure Black and White, and Fresh Precure next.

First order of business, clearing up misconceptions in this thread: 1. This isn't the first 'magical girls as adults' anime Toei has done, they did a movie with Ojamajo Doremi a few years ago based on this premise. I figure it did well enough they decided to greenlight these Precure series (Precure is such a big franchise I can't imagine them doing something like this just as an experiment). 2. By calling it 'Adult Precure', they just mean it's aimed at the girls who watched it as children and are adults with nostalgia for 'their' Precure season now. There's absolutely zero chance of anything sexy or ecchi being in this show, Toei isn't going to abuse their cash cow like that. A solid 75% of the reason this is being made in the first place is so they can cash in on selling merch to a demographic they've become more confident courting lately (I'll bet anything for this series they'll release ~subtly themed~ jewelry, perfume, maybe purses or shoes).

The interesting part of this is seeing how the characters will actually end up shipping-wise. Given Toei's track record I think it's equally likely we'll see Rin as a housewife as it is we'll see her as a big jewelry designer with stores in Paris. It seems like a given that Nozomi and Komachi will be married to their respective groomer mascots, and I would like to hope that Urara/Syrup are still together. The dream is that Karen and Milk are unmarried 'roommates' (lol) but I do feel like Toei is hideously likely to marry her off to some random guy she met in medical school so her character isn't too progressive. All that said, it's difficult to get a handle on things this early in the project, without even a trailer or any idea of the tone they're going for.

I haven't seen Mahoutsukai Precure yet so I can't speak for it, but I think Yes Precure 5, at least the first season, is a perfect choice for this sort of continuation. It's literally about what careers the girls want to have and what kinds of adults they want to become. GoGo lacked strong theming and the ending was a confused mess, so I figure it might get somewhat ignored plotwise (I do think they'll scoop Milk's human form as Kurumi and Syrup from it, maybe some stuff about Cure Rosegarden).

Anyway, as you can tell, I'm not at all cynical about this. I'm still gonna watch it, though.

That Ojamajo Doremi movie didn't show the girls as adults. Rather, it's set in "the real world" and follows the lives of a group of women who grew up watching the show... it's a nostalgia thing*. That aside, everything else you've said is spot on. Besides the original cures, I'd also like to see this sort of thing for Heartcatch (gotta know if Tsubomi ever became an astronaut lol).

*For anyone reading this who hasn't seen Ojamajo Doremi yet but is interested in that movie, don't worry, you don't really need to be that familiar with the show. You'll get it if you've ever been a fan of anything. Though, I'd still highly recommend Ojamajo Doremi anyway because it's a damn fine show

My bad lol. I haven't actually seen it, just seen the poster going around and a few people talking about it.

I think that Heartcatch is a strong candidate for a follow-up if these first two are successful, I've heard it was titanically popular when it first aired.

I'm actually excited for this especially now that they dropped the first teaser visual with Nozomi as a grown up adult with a city silhouette and her precure silhouette under her. I'm aware of the previous precure series before but Yes Precure is the first that I watch at the same time as it airs in Japan.

It's not the first time they've done this in general. Many of their old show fan merchandise is promoted under the idea that their fans have grown up to be mature women.

While I am excited to watch this since yes precure 5 was my introduction series into the precure rabbit hole. The plot summary simply says "A new anime project that follows Yumehara Nozomi as an adult." Not a new project that follows all the girls but they only mention one. So I'm a bit worried because I'm hoping to see everyone so I'll keep my fingers crossed for a trailer soon to clear that up.

Edit: not long after I wrote this post I found this link - https://prettycure.fandom.com/wiki/Kibou_no_Chikara_~Otona_Pretty_Cure_%2723~

Which better helped my understanding that all girls will indeed be in it yay...

I'm not sure they just didn't copy the original show's cast. But I think it's obviously not going to be a show just about her.
